for me I suspect it was skype, this didn't just kill the left mouse click, it also killed 'Enter' which is a mouse left click alternative. I suspect Skype was running as a 'REALTIME_CRITICAL_PRIORITY' process thus hogging the processor. I did a CTRL ALT DELETE and it brought up the taskmanager and although left mouse click was not working, 'Enter' was and I saw that Skype was running at 75% so I Ended the Task and suddenly my left mouse button worked again. Sometimes the left mouse button doesn't work and I hit CTRL ALT DELETE and even Task manager doesn't show up, so it's hit or miss.

My father with 37 years of experience using computers... Fixed it by hitting it from the top for some time...
