Sometimes Whatsapp is unable to complete the call using the Whatsapp "network" and will route your call to a Whatsapp server anywhere in world it sees fit using your phone number; it's the reason you needed to enter your phone number when you downloading the app. This will result in a charge on your cell bill to a country or number you do not recognize. A lot of of our ("insert phone provider here") customers get dinged this way but the charges are valid.
@@nextiva I think I can tell now by how the caller responds, that it has a pretty good relay time. I've used online calling from apps and noticed the delay but it seems the direct calling runs faster. 👍🫡
My iPhone won’t let me connect to wifi call on airplane mode its says this when I tried to make a call “No Network Connection Connect to a Wi-Fi network or disable airplane mode to place a call.” Even when i am connected to wifi network!
Thanks for this video. I’ve spent the last hour trying to solve a telephone problem on my iPhone. Cell signal is one bar or less in the house. Has 3 bars for wifi throughout the house. The iPhone is setup for wifi calling. Calls work fine when I am in the room with the router but not if I walk to another room. My question is how do I verify that my phone is actually using wifi rather than cell for phone calls? Thanks
Hey there, we recommend checking with Apple on ensuring your iPhone is using the feature properly. Otherwise, we have a more in-depth article on wifi calling technology here 👉 www.nextiva.com/blog/what-is-wifi-calling.html
I have the opposite problem. I’m in a brand new suburban apartment complex, and nobody wants to lay the ground lines because they assume people will just use 5G Home.
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps a 5g signal booster with the antenna mounted on your roof might help? They are generally good for an extra bar of signal given the same amount of RF interference. If you get better signal outside the house I would think it would be worth a try. Good luck!
did you mean using wifi calling, i can received calls and make calls to anybody else to any carrier or same carrier not just in emergency calls? please clarify
Wi-Fi calling simply moves the connection from your phone to your carrier to your wifi network instead of the cellular network. Everything else works the same, and you should not notice any new restrictions. You should be able to call people on other networks if your plan supports that, as nearly all do.
The iPhone still prefers to have cell instead of WiFi calling. I see it go from Verizon is VZ Wifi constantly. Wish they would have a standard WiFi call all the time option. Airplane is great solution except when you leave the house it’s on and you may forget which you don’t realize ironically not getting calls again.
Wifi Calling is only designed to assist the cellullar network if you happen to be in an area with low cell signal, so once the cell signal is strong enough (to support the call) the call will then be completed by the cellular network; if you're on airplane mode when you're abroad, you'll still get roaming fees.
Is this why it shows up as PVWIFI on my text logs?? I went online to see why my calls were showing up at PVWifi.. I use wifi calling all the time and it doesn’t show on my phone bill.. So if I’m using wifi why does it still show up as PVWIFI?? What the heck is PV?
i have a problem where when i try to turn wifi calling on it just keeps telling me to contact verizon. and i’ve tried going to verizon to connect my plan to wifi calling but the verizon app says the page is unavailable. how do i fix it? 😣
this content is incorrect, you cannot make wifi calls without a sim and contract, an agreement was made with most mobile phone co's to prevent free calls!
Hey! You're right that you still need a carrier contract to make calls using a phone number. This video was about how to enable wifi calling to overcome challenges with weak cellular signals or to avoid roaming charges. If you're looking to make calls without a sim card or contract, you may want to look into WhatsApp or Skype, which allow you to make calls on wifi without any carrier contract or sim.
@@nextiva yes but only to numbers with the apps installed! I think that the carriers who paid billions for all the GG's want to make their money back why not, but poor people cannot take advantage of wifi which is now every where
Remember it may not be this easy. Why? Well when airplane mode is turned on often it also turns off wifi! So it will need to be turned back on. There may be some other hiccups but keep trying and eventually it should work as described in video. Thank you. Also swipe from top right and up top beside carrier name a moving banner should say wifi calling on so you know it's working. Enjoy. It's mainly useful if you have low signal strength like 1 bar and sometimes SOS only, then use wifi calling so you don't miss calls and can make them. Thanks again for video.
Everything is true. The problem with WiFi calling is the customer will chose a cheap service plan. The other was it’s only works on iPhone to iPhone like “ I messaged “
Just upgraded to iPhone 15 from a 6s, would not let me enable wifi calling and pop up said call Xfinity mobile, but they don't seem to know and when I get disconnected troubleshooting they never call back. So on a whim, I turned on Low Data Mode and it connected automatically to wifi calling. Cellular Data and roaming are still on, I'm hoping this lets me use maps/GPS and apps when I'm away from wifi, going to have to test that out. But hopefully this tip will help others experiencing the same problem.
i have verizon, i turned on low data mode like you said and tried turning on the wifi calling and it just said to contact verizon AGAIN. how do i fix it? 😣😣
You have to use your head. iOS updates and sometimes settings change. Also an updated tutorial will get people to click on than an old one. Don’t come to conclusion when u don’t know anything

you loved your own comment? 😅
If there is a way to just choose to force the iPhone to connect to wificall instead of the carrier network it would be great
I use WhatsApp for overseas calls or Facebook messenger, but other Americans expect normal SMS and calls so this information is very helpful.

Use that with fly mode to save battery life
Is there a delay with wifi calling or does it transfer at the same speed as a network call?
Great question! There shouldn't be any noticeable delay with wifi calling.

Try going to „Phone“ settings. It will be there for sure.
