Tried this on a 1 hour client session this morning. The recording is great quality. My phone (16 Pro) is having trouble transcribing any of the call. (It’s been over an hour now, and still no transcription.). Also… interesting to note… every 7 minutes during the call, there’s a little chime that plays to remind all parties that that call is being recorded. In some states, it is legal to record but only one person needs to know... if I am placing the call, I know and can record without telling others. I often use a second phone and use the audio recording app to record ... been doing it for years and is totally legal here.
Agree this would be a good feature. In most places it is perfectly legal to record audio as long as you are part of the conversation and you are under no obligation to advise the other party. It should be up to the user to enable the recording reminder or not.

Hi there! I have a quick question. After updating to Sequoia, I can’t use Siri to put my Mac to sleep anymore. Before, I could just say “Hey Siri, sleep” and it would work. Any idea what’s going on?
Great video, Gary. (And I just saved it to my MacMost playlist. 😀) And I have a question. Are there any hardware requirements? I have an SE2, which can run 18.1 but doesn’t, of course, support Apple Intelligence.
From its website, Apple’s actual position on AI support in various jurisdictions. Turns out it’s about language: The first set of Apple Intelligence features is available now as a free software update with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, and can be accessed in most regions around the world when the device and Siri language are set to U.S. English. Apple Intelligence is quickly adding support for more languages. In December, Apple Intelligence will be available for localized English in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K., and in April, a software update will deliver expanded language support, with more coming throughout the year. Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and other languages will be supported.
What if I set my iPhone to Russian/Portuguese/any-other-hard-to-understand-language, maybe the other person won’t notice the “this call is being recorded” message?
Remember that Apple makes privacy an important part of their ecosystem. Allowing people to turn off that message would probably be a huge problem in that regard.
Why not? If you intention is to secretly record the person, note that it is illegal in many places. But there are lots of good uses for recording that don't involve it being a secret. Some people just like to be able to have a way to review valuable information they are being given over the phone.

Why? You don't need to use this feature if you don't want to. And not updating won't stop someone else from using it. You could even be talking on a non-iPhone and someone else can record (they already can in many ways). At least this iOS feature always gives the notification.
@macmost - Gary please do a video to explain the numbering system of software…. 18.0 = first number = complete rewrite. 18.1. .1 second number = Feature added. 18.0.1. Third number = bug fix
That's a general guideline, but not a rule. In this case iOS 18 is certainly not a "rewrite" of iOS 17. It is just a "major" update. Then after the first -dot- is the minor version. Then more minor after the second dot. It works like outline numbers in text or chapters and sections in textbooks.

EWWWWWWWWWW and you can’t turn OFF that dumb “your call is being recorded” message ????
that's the first thing I looked for. Damn. Useless to me now.
It’s because it covers the law in some areas against wiretapping some places no consent needed some places only 1 party has to know call recorded some places both party’s must be informed it’s the law
@ well yeah that makes sense. I get it now . Thanks
That the reason iPhones now have usb c to comply with EU laws
OK, so she’s wrong if you live in California Florida, Illinois, Maryland or Nevada then you do need TWO party consent for RECORDING the Call (to stay within the law 🙄)but any other state you only need ONE party consent so just tell yourself that you’re recording the call and you don’t need to tell the other person ! ChatGPT it!!!
Wow! Note to self, stop updating at 18.00.
@@macmost 😀 I’ve worked at places where the rules outlined by @KE5ZZO were basically equivalent to Moses bring down the 10 Commandments from the mountain to other places where it varied from release to release.
Not in U.S.
I'm demonstrating it in this video while in the U.S. Do you have your system language set to U.S. English or something else?
