MV Britannic was a transatlantic ocean liner and the penultimate ship owned by the White Star Line before its merger with the Cunard Line in 1934, and was the third company ship to bear the name. Constructed by Harland and Wolff in Belfast, the ship was delivered to White Star Line in 1930 and assigned to the Liverpool-New York line, from 1932 she was joined by her sister ship MV Georgic. When White Star Line merged with Cunard Line in 1934, the ship's route changed to the London-New York line, and she later provided winter Mediterranean cruises.
Die Britannic war mit ihrem Schwesterschiff Georgic das letzte Schiff, das die White Star Line bauen ließ. 1934 fusionierte die White Star Line mit der Cunard Line zur Cunard-White Star. Dadurch kam das Schiff zur Cunard Line. Die letzten ehemaligen White Star-Schiffe Britannic und Georgic behielten auch unter Cunard-Regie als letzte Anerkennung bis zur Außerdienststellung das Farbenkleid der White Star Line.

Celtic was the ship of the Big Four that was lost. Celtic ran aground on the rocks near Cobh (formerly Queenstown), and ended up being slowly dismantled by scrappers where she lay.
MV Britannic is my seventh favorite ocean liner overall, and my third favorite ship from White Star Line.

A good example of a cabin ship (like Britannic) and superliner (Oceanic) duet is the the Mauretania 2 and the QM.

Hey Cronosdarth, why did the Britannic and Georgic had standard davits while most of other ships of the 30s had change their davit system to be gravity davits?
thats a very good question. i think white star never used gravity davits and they trusted harland and wolff using old but reliable technology. perhaps there's a financial reason for that. perhaps they wanted to keep the tradition and the classic white star look.
Because there were more efficient davits, called radial davits, (on QM). Allows for bigger boats and more efficient lowering.

All Germans younger than 40 speak at least basic English. It's mandatory from 4th or 5th grade onwards. Some just never use it and forget everything they learned
