    Found this and realised that I couldn't replace the bulb in my downlights as I have these integrated sockets in all bar about 2 of my downlights. Then you show how to find the K value which is exactly what I was after, killed 2 birds in one stone after 90 minutes going down rabbit holes on YT. Thanks!

    Do you have to yank it down? I am not trying to do anything with the wires only change the bulb.
    Thanks

      @@T-London You can't change the bulb. That's the point. It's like having a car and having to replace the entire thing when you get a flat tyre.

    Really helpful thanks! I need to buy a voltage tester but I doubt it'll get used much so don't want to shell out loads - can you provide any recommendations?

    Moved into a property with these installed, 2 failed so far - why would you fit something that you can't change the bulb in? Seems like a backward step. Thanks for the video, have now replaced them all with suitable fixings.

    What did you do after taking out all the cables from the connections? Did you put them back as they were or did you cut them a bit?

      Hi! Any lights can be controlled by a smart switch, there are some things to consider to avoid compatibility issues though. 1 - Dimming, if you are wanting to dim the lights you must make sure the LED fitting/lamps are dimmable. 2 - Some smart switches require a neutral at the switch. Hope this helps.

    Surely if i only want to change the bulb i only have to change the bulb cable and not the actual cable that goes into the ceiling?

      New downlights are integrated meaning they are fixed (no bulb)

    Is there an easy way of telling if it’s an integrated LED? I’ve been trying to change the bulb in a fixture and it’s completely defeated me.

    • @HowToVideosUk
      @HowToVideosUk  Год назад +2

      Hi Rob, if it’s not the integrated type the downlight will have either a twist and lock section holding the lamp in place, or a circular spring which you pinch and pull and the lamp comes down, another way to check is give the lamp a little push and if there’s any movement on the lamp it’ll be the type you can replace. I hope this helps

    Its a super bad idea if you are a tenant who just wants to use her smart bulbs without having to replace the entire unit! Looks like my new apartment has this type and Im not happy at all.

    So depressing that theyake these integrated lights. Why cant i just change the fxxxing bulb instead if having to replace the entire unit? So dumb.

    I think it’s absolute SHITE that these are even being manufactured. As a homeowner these may well have lasted five years BUT I don’t want to be getting an electrician out every five years years instead of just being able change the bulb myself! Even asked my electrician and he kept insisting the bulbs could be changed. Perhaps all these morons should grow a brain. Massively pissed off that I’ve spent months with no light and now damaged my ceiling wrenching the damn thing out. Never again.
