He should mention the crown alignment issue when he gets it serviced because there is an issue with that. The threads are fixed, so the crown orientation should be the same every time. If it is changing, then most likely the crown tube is loose or has some play in the case. It could be that the threads are stripping out, but more likely a loose crown tube.
It’s perfectly fine to be honest, both of my subs are exactly like this smuf
The Smurf is the Sub we all want but can't afford, even if we don't know it yet. The perfect stealth wealth piece.
need to disagree on this. Preferring the black date steel only version and other watches with this price tag
Agreed, that's why I got one. I actually purchased mine from my dealer 2 weeks after it was discontinued. I couldn't believe they still had it in the case. He called me and offered it to me and I was no dummy, so I bought it.
@@damachine3 if you spent over 30k on a watch that gets destroyed by a Walmart quartz mechanically then you sir are most definitely a dummy lol
Beautiful! But you just can't beat the deep blue tones of the two tone bluesy!
Im wearing my two tone black one, I prefer this to the blue one as it's a bit more understated and subtle.
@@admiralcraddock464 That's certainly fair enough, it is definitely more understated however realistically you can never really be understated wearing a Rolex.
@@Watch-Crazy just wear it and enjoy it. I still feel 99% of people don’t even know or care what watch you are wearing.
@@tkm3207 As much as that would be the ideal it's far too risky. I don't know if you have visited London or most places in the UK for that matter of late, as there are gangs more than willing to kill you in broad daylight with people around just to take your watch and we're not just talking Rolex they know exactly what to look out for. A good friend for example was bashed over the head for his Rolex and several months later at gun point for his Patek, he's since sold all of his watches and Ferrari's, and he's not the only one.
nah fam
Woah, that is really weird...I thought the crown position was locked. Interesting...
Absolute grail watch btw
I purchased mine from my dealer 2 weeks after it was discontinued. I couldn't believe they still had it in the case. He offered it to me and I was no dummy, so I bought it.
No resell value, so yes you are a dummy
@@leep_uq It sells for thousands over. You look like a fool in front of everybody. Look it up.
The resell value is quite Limited in comparison of other Submariners
@@BobGolob Wrong, they command an absolute $ premium of the green bezel Sub, at a minimum...and generally much more. Why comment when you obviously don't know what you're talking about? The MSRP was $39K and they are listed for $48K to $60K. I already sold mine for $6K profit ($45K). The only dumb thing I did was not hold onto it longer since prices went even higher. I didn't buy it with the intent to sell it, but my dealer pushed it on me and I knew it was a safe buy, so I went for it. He knew that I wanted to sell it several months later and he was cool with it because he knew the backstory.
So, Peter Lee, again....you are an idiot.
I think these newer watches grow on you the more you wear them. I know because I’ve owned both varieties over the years. I wear my GMT Master 2 Root Beer the most of all the watches in my collection followed by my vintage Sea Dweller 16600. I think a two tone or solid precious metal is a must have to any collection, choice on which watch is personal as is vintage versus the newer version. Wear in good health. Mind you depending on someone’s wrist size these newer watches being 41mm plus might steer someone to the vintage decision.
I really enjoyed this discussion Austin. Please stay safe.😷
And people bang on about Seiko QC issues.
Own and have owned couple of Rolæ, never heard about one second a year.
Certainly an anomaly, but it looks like I have the same thing going on with this GMT: ruclips.net/video/6g_vYuDsHn8/видео.html
The only Sub I LOVE
Very nice to hear you with an owner, “Stealth wealth” I love that phrase, And at the recent BQ watch fair in the UK I tried on two of these heavy hitters. This Smurf, nice but even if I had the funds that blue was not for me, However 18K white a new GMT Pepsi with a much deeper dark blue dial on an oyster braclet. On my wrist the GMT defo had me with it looks, more features like dual time zone and “stealth wealth” it gave my pickle a fizzle!!
Cheers
Pretty much the king of the Submariners
The Smurf is truly amazing watch but I'll my Bluesy any day. To me it's the most beautiful watch Rolex ever.
The Bluesy does indeed have it's own merits. As much as I appreciate the stealthy aspect of white gold, you miss out on that nice warm hue of the YG.
Beautiful 💙💙💙💫
This is my new grail watch (the new model 126619LB). Previous grail watch was the platinum Daytona, which is still on my list but many years down the road.
You can call it lock-in instead of backplay😉
the crown thing is odd. my daytonas are always fixed at the same position when closed. If he serviced it, rolex probably would change the crown likely (nothing to do with the position, but more of a perishable part) haha
About patina and precious metal, yes it’s true and lovely. Even if you get a SS Datejust with the WG fluted bezel, the white gold will turn a warmer patina tone in contrast to the steel.
I think polishing steel and gold is different. When you polish a steel watch you have to remove some metal with gold I think it's soft enough where you move the metal around instead of removing it. Correct me if I am wrong
Superb watch, very valuable, understated and beautiful!
If it helps I just tried to wind my crown back in all 4 positions and every single time when screwed up the Rolex crown faces 6 o clock,I think this is normal but agree that facing 12 o clock or 3 o clock would be more satisfying
Mine always faces 12:00, Rolex doesn't really seem to regulate the direction of the crown anymore tho which kinda sucks. Weird that Marcelo's changes every time, might wanna look into that.
@@vt_fox5483
I Agree with you mate,I’d definitely get that checked👍🏻
When the insert is set into the bezel it’s either going to hit the mark or it won’t. If it was a real Rolex they would have caught that. Just because you purchased it at an AD doesn’t mean it wasn’t swapped out with a counterfeit super clone by an unsavory employee. He won’t know for certain unless he sends it to the factory.
QC issues do happen on real Rolex. And this was the real deal - 100%.
You know u have problems when the crown on your gold Rolex isn't straight 😁
Really . Think of the people dying from covid ! Crazy stuff .
@@davidcoleman2796 So all we have to do is stop worrying about the crown position and the deaths from Covid will cease?
Austin, with the backplay on the bezel and the misaligned crown in the rehaut (frankly that is shocking) it is encouraging to see Rolex (snark alert) is getting closer and closer to Omega quality in the entry luxury segment.
Lol, I'm not taking the bait!
@@watchsymposium Well done!
I had this watch in my hands in 2016 , I put it on and it was amazing. The blue dial, the size, even the weight… but it was out of my budget. The prize was 27000 euros.
Per Austin's earlier Seamaster video and this one it is clear one can get Rolex quality control at a much lower price!
Hi Austin, i dont know if you recall my earlier message to you about my 126711chnr regulation , but you had advised me to seek a +0.5 sec regulation from my RSC . I did ask for it, but they made it +1sec fast. I questioned the watchmaker as to why he did not make it my spec, so he showed me a slip which had 9H, 3H etc rate reading from a timing machine and he said when he tried making it lower than +1sec a day , it would go onto -0.6secs per day territory. However, when I hear you talk abt your A series watch and marcellus Smurf, I wonder whether I should give this regulation another try? what do you feel? your thoughts please
I'd be really happy with +1 a day - that's great. If it was something like +4 a day, I'd broach the subject, but +1 isn't something you can really complain about. So, I'd leave it as is.
@@watchsymposium hmm. I wonder whether this near 0 secs per day accuracy can be done by a skilled watchmaker. I was wondering whether you had your watches regulated to give you that kind of accuracy?
The crown of a solid gold Sky-Dweller should always align perfect due to a patent no other rolex (and non precious metal SkyD) has.
Austin is in big love
Stealth wealth. Yup. I LOVE this F Off piece.
Hmmm… yes a few alignment flaws that need to be corrected come service time, especially with such a hugely expensive example.
Jesus . I also do this . So a $40 000 rolex has the same problem as my $500 steinhart ! Lmao
how do ladies get hold of marcello? fine rolex gentleman that he is
Jesus Austin, your rehaut obsession is ridiculous 😂
Why can't Rolex just get this right?!?
I mean, you pay thousands for an otherwise perfect timepiece - is a centered rehaut too much to ask? And so many watches have the issue...I just don't get it.
@@watchsymposium it doesn't actually bother me..... But I ALWAYS check!!!
@@watchsymposium You know I’m the same. I wanted an Explorer II where it was exactly lined up and I found one.
@@Tone_Jammer I just checked my Yachtmaster and 2008 OP.. Thankfully perfectly aligned. Crisis averted!
Just buy the pelagos: same type of blue, titane, 2 strapes, Nice bezel clic + lume, mvt more performant, better water résistance And available + less less expensive!🤣
It's close...yet so so far away.
On your death bed and you only have 2 years to live ? Lol . A death bad is when you only have a few days to live ! Ha ha ha .

Woow what a beauty,, perfect to be stolen
Marc Goldberg wrapped his full gold Submariner
Does he have a video on that?
Yeah, the bluesy’s blue is better. The smurf’s looks plastic.
tudor to rolex is toyota to lexus. not a thing wrong with it just the truth. i got out of my tudor by making a sale to my neighbor for cash and an i watch. Was thankful to get out of it and now will be buying a daydate yellow gold.
That’s defo fake.
It came from the Rolex AD in Ginza, so it's as real as they come.
