      It’s the best watch for everyday wear it’s so dang comfortable it’s hard to take it off. Hope you’re enjoying it and enjoying being out of the army. Well deserved and a perfect field watch that really can be worn doing anything.

    Congratulations on the upcoming purchase. While vintage will always have unmatched character, there is also something special about a modern Rolex that will perform at spec - and into which you can embed your own memories and moments and sentiments...

    Yes you guys hit the nail on the head. We as watch enthusiasts collectors forget that some of these watches are very special for many people. I didn’t buy my first new Rolex until I was 45. Many men grow up with the “one day I’m gonna get me a Rolex when I’m 40/50/60 years old”. It’s more special when you approach watches (Rolex) like that. This is why many AD’s prefer to sell a Rolex to that working man who turned 45, or the new grandfather at 55 years of age. Rolex was once the go to brand for older adults.

    The blue and red bezel with the blue dial is very nice (much better than a black dial IMO), and white gold elevates this watch above just common steel. Great watch!

    Christian, this was one of your best videos - very authentic and real. Congrats in advance on your white gold Pepsi GMT, it is a stunner of a watch. My favorite Rolex is my latest one - a 124270 36mm Explorer. It is effortless to wear all day, but still feels robust, the way a Rolex should.

    Bought my first Rolex (I have a vintage watch collection and a few lower priced modern watches). Traded in a diamond bezel Omega and helped cover the costs of a 2000s 36mm Day- Date in white gold with the oyster bracelet (I don't like the president as much) and pie pan bezel. It's not as attention grabbing as the yellow gold, as was my intention. I love it, wear it every day since I got it.

    Chris love your quote: “Watch should means something”. My god how insanely true is! Sometime I feel like in need to detoxicate myself from the watch community. I have spent so much time following others tastes instead of understanding mine..Guess what happened? I had 16570, 216570, 16710, 216710, 116500, 16600 x2, 126334, 116518LN, 116610LV, 124060…now only one of those it’s with me. Which one? The one i got for my 35th birthday from my AD: 124060. Lesson learnt.

    Christian I must say I have a new respect for you with buying what you love to impress yourself and not others when purchasing a watch. Most people who purchase gold watches want yellow or rose gold in order to impress others and to flex. It takes a person with confidence to purchase what "they" love and not others. I too love white gold watches.

I wanted to hold it to value and yes, it’s a Rolex, but having the precious metal gives it another angle of beingmoney/appreciating and value. As far as the gold content, it’s only like a couple of ounces or something. Of course, there’s videos on it.

    This is a good take on Vintage vs Modern. Christian's Dad has a great (vintage) GMT Pepsi and now the son is going for the same great model but modern, in White Gold. Great move and I love that Christian will swap the GMT's from time to time. No guilt! In fact I think Christian's Dad would feel guilty if this new watch wasn't purchased because Christian may feel like he is upstaging him. Most Dad's, that are comfortable in their own skin and in their life, want their son's to do better than them. And I'm not saying that Christian is doing better than his Dad (Wealth does not equate better). The future story is yet to be told! The story now is that Christian was raised by a great family and Mom & Pop, and he turned out pretty decent (no felonies so far, that I know of, LOL).

    I had a Baselworld 2014 introduced 116719BLRO and it was initially 20-seconds-per-day fast and they replaced the mainspring and fitted a weaker one as the only way to slow it down: they couldn’t do it with the balance wheel inertial micro-stellar nuts. Make sure you ask before buying or if it’s been checked on a time graph machine , as within Rolex’s Green Seal 5-year-International -2/ +2 seconds-per-day ‘Superlative Chronometer rating released 2015-16.
    This was the black dial original Pepsi GMT-Master II with the 3186 GMT-Master movement introduced on the 50th Anniversary 116718LN yellow Gold 2 models: one black dial with green ‘GMT-Master II’ dial text; 24Hr GMT hand and date wheel figures: The first Rolex in Baselworld 2005 with Easy-Link tool free clasp micro adjustment -/+ 5mm (one link); Parachrom Blue Balance Spring; Paraflex shock absorbsion system; Cerachrom ceramic bezel and the Supercase. It also has a Maxi-dial introduced in 2003 with the Kermit 16610LV in 2003 for the 50th Anniversary of the Submariner with oversize 12-Hour plot indexes and hands. The 2005 GMT-Master II has a green dial variant but without Green dial text and date wheel figures. The Baselworld 2014 white Gold 116719BLRO (9 suffix = white Gold; 8 suffix = yellow Gold;
    5 = Everose Gold) had the 3186 GMT-Movement. It was discontinued at Baselworld 2018 when the stainless steel/ Jubilee-Only 126710BLRO was released, with the new 3185 Chronergy GMT movement. The 2014 WG Pepsi was replaced by a collectible anomoly watch:
    It was replaced my a Midnight Blue dial (without the Rolex coronet insignia at 6 on the dial, indicating the new 3185 Chronergy movement had been fitted. It remained in production for 1 year until Baselworld 2019:
    Midnight Blue dial
    Old Ref No: 116719BLRO
    No Rolex Coronet at 6 (😢indicating presence of the new 3185 Chronergy GMT movement) because it continued with the old 3186 movement until Baselworld 2019, when it got the new 3185 Chronergy GMT movement and Rolex Coronet on the Midnight Blue dial and a new Ref: 126719BLRO. Platinum is the ultimate white metal and the Platinum Day Date 40 228206 was £9.5K cheaper than the Platinum Daytona 116506 at Rolex UK RRP: £48K to £57.5K. Look at the Platinum DD40 but you need a spare link for summer as it doesn’t have Easylink.

But then they didn't go that way and now all hell has broken loose. Rolex must have some real internal fighting going on about it all. But they sell everything even when the phuck up. The market is fickle, and Rolex is fickle also.

    It wasn’t “funny” how he said he wasn’t on the market for quite sometime and then immediately talked about multiple purchases within the last year. It made it feel like honesty isn’t understood or appreciated. Never watching a vid again. Too much good other watch content.
