I ordered a Rolex Explorer 40mm 6 weeks ago got the call 2 days ago It’s now sitting pretty on my wrist 😁things are defiantly changing 100%
I have been in two separate ADs over the last three weeks, and both offered me watches. Now, they weren’t anything I wanted - a 36mm two-tone DJ and a 28mm yellow gold DJ. That aside, my wife and I both got the call in the last 10 months. All I wanted was an Air-King and I got it. My wife got the two-tone DJ with MOP dial and Diamond bezel/markers she waited months for - just under $20k MSRP. No prior spend in either AD. Things are loosening up.
A friend and I went to our local Rolex authorized dealer the first week of June and he put his name on the list for a Submariner. Exactly 3 weeks later they called and he got a black dial with date Sub. We were shocked to say the least.
Black dial date sub is what I was offered recently (a place on a list, no watch yet). Lists for green and no-date closed and ‚no chance’.
Black dial sub has always been easy

The Swatch looks very cool. I am supporting Swatch as I have a few pieces Swatch watches in my collection. They are fun and enjoyable to wear when I am after work or during weekends. They are amazing beautiful and comfortable watches to wear.

@@blake9181 no I do not have purchase history. I came in the AD introduced myself and expressed interest with GMT and sub SA said GMT she can get within the year for me but if I wanted something quicker sub is for sure. So I opted for that.
Grey market has dropped significantly, its almost the same to get the watch at AD vs grey + tax. That might be a good option.
rolex in stock make sense, my local AD display case is now fully stocked and the 2nd hand shops near by also always have some rolex in stock, still no steel daytona though
Christian has excellent taste in watches. My OP 36 green dial is my favorite watch in my collection. It was more difficult to get from my AD than my 126610LV. Cheers!
I couldn’t agree more. My green OP get more positive attention than any other watch in my collection as well. It pops!
In fact thinking about it and reading the comments… sounds like stock isn’t going straight out the back door to grey market from bent AD’s right now because dealers know the margins are dead on anything but the rare stuff so they ain’t hoovering it all up. Hence people suddenly getting the calls.
I asked for a Sprite on Jubilee the 1st week of June....2 weeks later I got the call to pick it up. AD said they were "surprised" it came in that fast after they ordered it. Funny enough I also ordered a Tudor Pepsi (new ivory dial) and that took 4 weeks to come in!!!

@@cuanboyz9956 Yes, I had purchased a DJ41 Blue Stick dial on Oyster plus a Tudor Black bay. So 2 watches prior.
I visited the AD 2 weeks ago, got the call yesterday & picked it up today! 😁 without buying anything before at that authorized dealer.

I got the call for my yellow gold day date white roman in december. Was very unexpected, then all of my buddies started getting calls on big pieces
I heard now you can report ADs to Rolex directly if they make you buy anything before you buy a watch.
I got the call for my DJ a month ago. 36mm, fluted bezel, mint dial, jubilee bracelet. Noted interest for 6 months, only previous purchase was a Black Bay Pro.
I expressed interest on the same 126234 May 2023. Still waiting. I did get a call after 6 months on a Black Explorer II.

DJ 36 with fluted bezel / jubilee was available even back in 2021 with minimal to no wait if you contacted enough ADs… now DJ 41 is a different story

Walked in an AD 3 days ago and got my Explorer 40, it's now my daily instead of my 41 steel Wimbledon.
I had my first preference, I wanted the one that looked the most G-Shock, so I got the Mercury.

One thing you guys missed on that Cartier - the Taureg headscarf is the symbol of the Dakar Rally. I think that watch is awesome...but only for Gaston Rahier and his family. On top of that, he won that second year on a bike he had wrecked just before the race, and the repair was so bad (though the best that could be done) that the bike left two tire tracks instead of one when going straight.

Who's "everybody" and why am I not included? No but seriously I just recently got a call for my 124060 Sub but that was AFTER 2 years+ of waiting with a DJ36 and an Explorer on the purchase history. Now waiting for the 126710BLRO and eventually the white dial Daytona (for retail).
Last Christmass my parents gifted me the mission to Pluto, and is actually the most dressy and fun of the selection, although a part of me wishes a mission on Earth one
If I can walk into a Rolex AD right now to buy a watch, I'd pick the explorer 36 in SS. Great size, great spec, go anywhere do anything watch!

Good to see dispite being poorly treated Rolex customers still gladly stand in line for one.
That’s the perception but I’m thinking that the reality is somewhat different. Potential buyers are getting the call as others have declined to take up the offer of the watch due to financial pressures. It could also be down to some increase in supply. Either ways it’s a load of hype by Rolex and their cronies.
Its because ADs were selling to the grey market over msrp (yes ADs charge grey market dealers more than msrp which is why grey market/flipppers are ADs preferred customers). Now that economic conditions have changed, grey market no longer wants to take on the risk of buying over msrp, So now ADs are selling that stock to retail customers at msrp.
The Cheich mirrors the old logo for the Paris-Dakar, so it’s intentionally very literal. The whole point is that it’s a trophy related to winning the race. I do wish the pictures would show off the three gold alloys that are used; in most of them it all just looks yellow, underselling the artistry of the sculpture.

I work in a watch ad for cheaper brands (longines and such) and I swear I see more Rolex then omegas these days. The standard line stuff really don’t feel that rare and they’re always for sale on marketplace and chrono in Australia. It’s all a fugazi

I just lived exactly what they were talking about in this video. Walked into the AD locally last week and sorta-joking asked, “what Rolex could I buy today?”….. and he whipped out a new DateJust with an RRP of $13500. Wife and I were split on it; walked out and thought about it……Decided to go back an hour later after some shopping. Sold to the guy who looked at it right after us. Kinda glad as I really want a GMT or Explorer II instead (which I know will not come for years, if ever… but I did decide to put my name on the list after that. Who knows if things are changing?

There are just too many affordable, quality options out there now to be paying all that money for a name. Those other options also don't spend all day sniffing their own farts with their "waiting lists" either.
That’s not how luxury products work, though. That’s not limited to watches - take bags, cars, luggage, etc. Very few people in those markets care about “affordable, quality options.” And, preemptively, the people that spend the most time with those products aren’t waiting (or at least as long) on “lists.”

There are so many other Swatch watches that would be more fun and worth a few $$ over the MoonSwatch.
That being said, had they handled the marketing and distribution of it a lot better and actually have them ALL available in both retail AND online and not unicorns to chase at the very few retail stores, they might still be relevant and hold interest longer. As they are, I instantly dismiss any new info on them cause it is really like "whatever".
As it is and still remains, it's like playing blind box collectibles game. You want a specific coll ctivle character(s), but, when you go to a Swatch store u never know what they will have and chances are it won't be what you really want. The game of uncertain obtainability gets tiresome and old fast. Forget even trying if it's on the next full moon day.
the daytona isnt interesting at 30,000 or 20,000...
the chronomaster sport is VERY interesting at 12,000 though. (imo)
maybe im just a sucker for the different colored subdials... hehe
From a value perspective its bang on the zen offers enough value for the price rolex doesnt but from a investment perspective rolex all day everyday
You can get a slider example of the Zenith for $8K now. I have one and it smokes my Rolex 126900 in fit and finish. Never held a Daytona but I’d never pay over retail for one so 🤷♂️

I texted the other AD and asked her is it even worth for me to keep on texting her periodically. I don’t think she liked it because she never replied to me.
Try another AD if you have one nearby. I also wanted an Air-King and got one last year after less than a week’s wait. They’re out there…

That CW&T solid state watch is interesting. You can't change any settings. So half the year it's unwearable due to daylight savings.

Curious why a Rolex made by CNC Equipment is so expensive. The Chinese can make almost perfect copies for $500 only shows how much markup is there. Remember you don't clone a watch, unless it has an inflated retail price.

Strange that manufacturing produces watches much faster now, but Swiss prices have only skyrocketed. Very good marketing must be responsible for these prices.
You are not being a watch when you buy a Rolex, you are buying an over inflated status symbol.

Slowly but surely people are getting the “call” but many are out of the watch game. Many guys gave up, gave into paying sucker grey market prices, or the economy is not going to well for many people unfortunately.

The Swatch executives successfully created hype for the $250 plastic MoonSwatch made by robots. However, when they said they were going to take orders on their website then reneged, I lost interest in the brand. Plus I was not going to drive 2+ hours each way to get to the nearest Swatch Boutique. The good news is I am still a loyal Omega customer, but have no desire to buy from Swatch.
Got the Air King in 3 weeks from the NYC boutique. Granted it's one of the less popular models.

Rolex did a great job with their marketing and making their products limited. But to be honest, I would take an Omega and a Grand Seiko any day. Personally think they are just higher quality and are a better products. But Rolex having their watches more exclusive is what most people want. 🤙🏻
