    the "Abbey Road" EQ tip, which may also be applied to other FX, helps my "main" reverb sit so much better.
    gain mixing/level matching has been a huge help in getting a more consistent level throughout a mix.
    lastly, picking a main starting point, like kick & bass, then working everything else around that, gives me focal point to work with.
    these have been my biggest game changers since i've started focusing more on mixing. i hope one day to have enough proper knowledge, so then i can share what i know with others & help them out.
    anyhow, as always, thanks again Sara!

    My first big mistake was my arrogance.
    The thought that I already knew everything and that equipment would do the work.
    Today (not so much later) I know that I know (almost) nothing at all.
    This realisation is wonderfully liberating and the urge to discover and experience new things is immense!
    Thank you for your top notch videos!
    Cheers Lucas

    Great Videos Sara 👏🏼. One of the "best" mistakes I made was...to create a solid stereo Bass and then finding me wondering, where it has gone as I listened back the track in mono...😂😂 I didnt knew anything about phase annihilation back then. Im very happy, finding your chanel.

    Sage advice indeed! Early on, improper (or no) gain staging was hurting my mixes. I'm glad that's a thing of the past. Getting mixes to translate well over varying sources can be tricky but bringing reference tracks into the DAW project helps tremendously.

      Me too from time to time! Haha. The trick is to recognise you’re doing it and quickly switch back. That’s a step in the right direction!

    Thanks Sara. Love the tip about multiple eq instances on the same track. I have a question pls... do you personally record and mix at 48 or 96k at 24 bit? Ta!

    • @SaraCarterSimplyMixing
      @SaraCarterSimplyMixing  3 года назад +1

      I don’t record these days but if I did, I’d choose depending on system resources and track count. I’d always go for the highest my system allows. If that means 24/48 then I’m happy with that.

    Ironically this video needs a compressor on the audio. Your voice is soft and pleasant to listen to, but when you play the demo track it blasts uncomfortably above that.

      Hi, thanks for that but I don't think I play a demo in this video, what timestamp?
