Took home bent the spring towards and downward so I will try it out. But I'm really waiting for Smith and Wesson to make the new sdve 2.o in a 40cal

It's good to see an update/refresh of an older model from Smith & Wesson. I like the new slide serrations. They look better and the serrations added to the top of the slide help prevent glare. The updated trigger shoe look just like the M&P 2.0 trigger shoe. Flat profiled trigger shoes are a nice upgrade. Overall it's a decent looking pistol. This one will appeal to those who want a modern 9mm pistol for self defense. I think these will sell well. I have seen them on several websites for sale at $299.00.

Nice looking gun. This the RUB. Mine I bought from Academy was a Dud.. Went to Range 2 days after I boughtit. Shot a Mag of Blazer Brass. 3 times the Mag fell out onto the ground!! WOW!
Turned Out Defective Mag release Button. Called S&W Warranty. Said they will Send a New Nag Release Button. NEVER got it. I ended up Buying a Used Mag Release Button from Ebay. Fixed my issue. Shitty Service from S&W!!
I took my gun apart after testing the new(used Mag release button) cleaned and Scoped my Barrel to Find half the Rifling Wasn't There!! WOW!
I Just about POPPED a Cork over that crap.
Do to my Prior experience with S&W Warranty People. I Refused to deal with them! I Bought a Brand New Replacement Barrel it it. Few days later it arrived. Scoped it. Excellent Barrel.
Couple days later went to Range. NOW I have an Real Gun. Shoots good. Huh!

I own the generation just before this the SD40VE. I have Steadily improved from factory (or should say enhanced it). The biggest enhancement was obviously the trigger. Apex duty / carry kit with the "ultimate striker plunger & spring" (also from Apex). In addition polished all internal contact points. The results were no trigger creep, no grit no striker plunger hump, super crisp break and a reduced reset. I was getting a 4lb trigger pull. The reset was tactile but not as tactile as I wanted or felt it should be, IMO it was also a little light for a carry pistol with no other redundant safeties. How I remedied this is I switched out the Apex trigger return spring with an M&P 2.0 spring. Now I am getting consistent 4.5lb trigger pulls and a nice positive & audible tactile reset. If I could figure out a way to shorten the reset a little more It would be absolutely perfect, But this is the nature of the beast it's designed into the SD line. I could tell you just by looking at the video. My trigger pull is much better and the reset is a bit shorter than the one that's featured here. So before all of you go and throw away your pistols for the latest and the greatest. Consider what I just poste.

Oh god, they ruined it. Sandpaper grips, yet another staplegun trigger, only one mag and cheesegrater serrations. I have an original and it's awesome. Dropped in an apex trigger spring kit and never looked back. More intrinsic accuracy than an M&P, and in 2800 rounds so far, of mixed ammo, not a single stoppage, not one.

I make the slides for a living. The new serrations are MUCH improved over the older generation. Its also easier to machine now and it takes us less time than before. The trigger is much better too but I would replace it still yet with an Apex one. The only thing I really dont like about it is the grips. That polymer grip pattern is so bad, especially if you have sweaty hands. It becomes slippery as hell when the gun gets hot and your hands get wet.

"S&W has affordable mags."? They charged me $50 for an extra 23 round mag for my FPC. Compared to Glock mags, that's pretty steep.

Accessories are interchangeable....it looks like the holsters will work as well from the older SD9 series.

I liked the SD series except the trigger so I’m interested in this new model. I’m going to wait on the .40sw version.

Flat face trigger instead of hinge design. Still has SAME EXACT spongy take up as SD9VE and only comes with one magazine instead of two like the VE.
Better off buying an SD9VE and putting in an Apex trigger.
    This gun is a gimmick.

      It’s not the weight.
      It’s the shitty trigger pull.
Relay that to your bosses at S&W!

@@justinhronchak9275 lol i dont work for smith homie, i have caniks and glocks, the trigger is not bad, but it does some dead space its not a problem at all considering ive put 250 rounds in it before cleaning and not a single hiccup

The sd series are great guns regardless of budget. It's great that there are reliable firearms that don't cost the same as your mortgage payment.
