Hi there, I live in New Zealand and have just purchased the Heidi Swapp Black and white Cinch. I am hoping for it to be delivered in 3 weeks. I have watched hundreds of video tutorials to see what alternative binding wires that will fit the Cinch. I haven't been able to find any this size Pitch 2.1 in New Zealand that you have explained.
Now I can look outside NZ. I am going to look at the site you gave for the wires, and if they have international shipping. I also notice that people don't say if any sample wires come with them. I am so excited and happily awaiting my new craft tool. I have just found your channel in 2022 and subscribed after watching this. Thank you so much for the advice and tips you give.
I just got my new cinch machine and it seems like you have to practice alot to get the hang of it so i want to thank you for sharing this great tip. The bee ring is cute too lol.
Finally, some one to show me the center! Thank you Ellen!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to learn everything I can about my Cinch before it comes in the mail. I have a lot of odd size things I want to bind, and I had never thought about running into this problem. Thank you for the heads up! And your bee ring is just darling!🐝💕
Thank Ellen, very helpful 😀
Thank you! I was wondering how to do the odd numbers! This was great help.
So good to see you Ellen! I've been missing you & your gorgeous journals! TFS Lyn

Great tutorial and helpful info. I just got my Cinch yesterday.
I have missed you so much, Ellen. I needed some help with my Cinch! Thank you for the videeo.
Yeah, Ellen! You're back! so wonderful to here your voice again!
Oh Lisa, I hope you are doing well and sorry I haven't been a good friend :-( I've just been so busy with work and Etsy. Once I retire I'll have lots of time and we can connect again. Big Hugs
No worries Ellen! I am doing pretty well. Work is getting better, and I am working on a couple of mini album projects, which will be my first two crafty RUclips videos. I am going to call my channel, "Full Service Memories" in keeping with my love of RV travel. I sure miss RVing. Luv, Lisa
Ellen Bee, I sure miss you and hope you are well. XO
Ellen, many thanks for this video, you helped a lot with centering. Many thanks :) x
Super helpful! (I was especially looking for what kind of wire to use since I am new to the cinch.) Thanks so much! :)
Thank you so much for the tips on how to punch custom sizes easily. It would be so nice if the instruction sheet that comes with the machine would explain things in a bit more detail! However, you have helped enormously, so thank you again.
Thank you Ellen--I am just about to embark on buying a CINCH machine and am curious how it works--what people like/dislike..etc.....so this was helpful! :)
Awesome Ellen. Super great tip. Thanks for the info on the wires I am going to their website now. Hope you are doing awesome.
Hugs,
Cindy Lou
Cindy Lou, Make sure you sign up for the emails - they gave me either a $5 or $10 discount. Hugs back!
Thank you so much for sharing I am new to this and your tutorial will help me so much just such a great idea
Ellen, thank you for the tutorial and hint regarding wires. I have just found a supplier over here in Australia and I can get a box of 50 1" coils for $36. ONE coil at the craft store costs $4.99 !!! You have saved me a fortune! I was not aware of the required pitch, so thanks for that info as well.
:-)
Awesome! Thank you soooo much for the tips!!! You helped me !!! Tfs ... Irene
Irene, all I wanted to accomplish was to help at least one person. Glad it was you!
Thanks for the great tip on the Cinch! Hugs!
Mary Allen, hope it helps a bit because the Cinch is a great tool. Hugs back!
Ok I'm not the only that had an issue with the odd numbers. Thanks for the vid!!
+Keshia Fowler So very glad I could be of some help! Happy Cinching!!
Thank you so much for those tips! Very helpful 😊
~Steff~
Love the center tip on odd sizes, I've not seen this addressed at all, so thank you! I like the tip about the wires too. So what all do you make that you use so many wires?
Wow. I just tried your method and worked perfectly. My question is how to use your method with 11 inch length. I want to do some vertical sketch books and struggled with how to do this. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing!!
Ellen can I just say how absolutely ADORABLE you are? Honestly you are just too cute for words! Your tip on punching the paper down the center of the machine is brilliant and I will be using that tip from now on when using my Cinch! I also loved your referral to My Binding. I am so excited to place an order for a box of 50 wires. Can I ask how much that box was? This video may not be new...I forgot to look before commenting but I was just curious how much the box of 50 were. Thank you for taking the time to share these tips..I for one really appreciate it. I'm your newest new subscriber! For sure I will check out your new videos you post in the future!! Take care!
Oh and can you give me your Etsy shop link? I would love to check it out! Thanks!
I know I am replying late but the Binding shop offers a coupon. Check out their website. My Etsy shop is on vacation until September. Had surgery and am still recovering. My shop in Inside the Beehive.
great tips, Thanks!!!
Yes it was helpful, thank you so much!
Great tips!!
Hi Ellen Bee. I just found you when doing a search for the Cinch. I love your idea with the washi tape. With the angle of the machine on the video I can't tell if you centered the tape under the arrow, or set it beside the arrow. Also, I want to make some sketch books for my very talented granddaughter (I'm kind of prejudiced!). She likes the pages to be firm so I planned on using 110 pound weight cardstock and laminating the covers. Do you have any suggestions about how to judge how many pages will fill the book so I don't have to experiment and take a chance that I made it too thick or left it too thin. I like the idea of using the 3/4 inch wires. Thank you.
Im just waiting on my cinch ..the videos are great .i already have a binding machine and paid a lot of money for it but still wont close binders properly .The cinch looks more easy .Thanks for videos i will keep watching and learning . Im making 8/7 calendars so heres hoping i do well xx could you tell me what size of wires i would have to use on plain and glossy ..thank you
Do you still enjoy the cinch? I know I'm late to the band wagon but thinking about getting one.
Thank for the info...
So helpful! Thanks
Thanks for sharing this great information. Can you tell me please, How many pages( none embellished) does a 3/4 inch wire hold roughly whilst remaining flat? I'm trying to get an idea of the width. Kind regards Kate
I almost exclusively use the 3/4" wires. I make tons of journals and the pages vary from 85 (170) when using 24 pound paper to 30 pages when using heavy cardstock. Take a look at my shop on Etsy - Inside the Beehive - and almost every journal has been made using 3/4" wires.
Thank you!
Thank you sooo much!
Thank You!!
thanks Ellen from the UK. Just awaiting my new Cinch and am a bit worried about the wire binders. Not a brilliant person with numbers and so could do with a bit of help with the measuring and the pitch, what is that? Many thanks
2:1 is the pitch.
Thank you
Thanks again Ellen...so in your opinion if I am doing 20 pages of 60 lb ...3/4 inch is fine?
Yes. I use cardstock from Michael's which is 65 pound.
Thanks! I've had so much trouble getting the wires round that I use the coils that you wind up through the holes. How much easier are the new wires to use?
Liza, I have spent hours trying to get perfectly round wires and trust me, you and I aren't the only ones who have trouble. I even emailed Cinch and they told me that they would never be perfectly round! With the new wires I always get almost round coils. There is always a little wobbly wire either at the top or the bottom but that doesn't bother me. I have never had to throw away a damaged coil. Good luck and let me know your progress.
I want one
I am making a planner, the cover will be laminated, the paper part of the cover will be slightly larger than the inside pages by @ 1/8" all around. Once the cover page is laminated, it will be even larger because I have to leave a little bit of edge on the laminate so it doesn't peel apart. Are there any special instructions for doing this so everything ends up fitting the same holes?
Good question and this is what I do. I make templets for both the inside paper and the covers. I then fold the templets so that I have a center line. I make the holes for both and then lay them over the real covers and papers and punch. I know it sound confusing but it really does work. Good luck!
Ellen Bee Good Idea! Thanks
I am having a hard time telling how to line up my washi tape exactly in the center, I wish they would have put that arrow on the base to make it easier to line up.
Did the wires from Binding company work better?
The wires from Binding are just a tiny bit thinner and so yes, they do work better. About 90% of the time my wires come out completely round.
Can someone please tell me, what is the newest version of the Cinch, when I do a search I see yellow ones, pink ones, blue ones, and black and white ones....I went to the we r memory keepers website and typed Cinch binding machine in the search box and all that came up was accessories for the machine and not the machine itself. I looked on the Michaels site and couldn't find one, is this a discontinued item? Just to let you know, I am asking this question on other RUclips sites in hopes of someone answering me. Thanks
Sorry can't help you. Mine is the blue one and it is 2 years old. I got mine from Ebay.
countrybunkin 1974 , it's not the cinch 2. it's gray and blue now. hope, that helps. also check scrapbook.com
I mean, it called cinch version #2
Kiki Forrester thank you
Is this 3:1 pitch?
2:1 pitch.
How do you decide which size of wire to use? X
It depends upon the amount of the papers you are binding. Over the years I have tried many sizes and for me 3/4" is the perfect size for most journals. I typically bind 2 chipboard covers and around 50 tea dyed cardstock.
