My highschool bff was gay and he didn't know, one time he wrote me a love letter I didn't want to offend him or hurt his feelings so I avoided that for a long time he brought it up in our senior year and we laughed about it but he went through a phase of dating girls, but then a year after highschool he comes out to us in the group chat and everyone was like we knew honey...and he was like and you let me date girls...

Switch the sexes and that is my HS experience. Except ours figured it out junior year. Cut to us being VERY stoned watching Boys Don't Cry cold no previous knowledge. DVD roulette. It's a sad film so we're all crying but she is BAWLING says I have something to tell you all. We knew. We let her tell us. We all cry and hold each other. It was great. Then we all alternated the role of her beard for the rest of HS. Ahhh the early 00's sucked.

@ohthelovelypoems Most people grow up thinking they have to date and breed or at least fug. Having a name for people who don't want to do any of those things normalizes not doing those things. I don't go around calling myself a-romantic (aro) and a-sexual (ace / lacking sexual attraction), but when I first heard these phrases it was really reassuring because then I didn't feel so weird about how I am.
