This one is all about the thrill and not the theory! We took a stock version of every SUV, you’d find straight from the showroom, and plunged into the mud for some serious fun! No off-roading masterclass here-just a wild weekend romp with the most capable 4x4s!
Bingo! This guy's are just punching the acceleration as fast as they can. This is not offrorading! I didn't see many shift, traction control disconnect, switching to lower gear, locking the diff.
Some observations/suggestions: 1. Strangely there is no objective discussions regarding the mechanical off-roading performances, parameters of these vehicles, and more importantly, there is no such demonstration either of any actual parameters, e.g. axel articulation, low speed-low RPM torque delivery, undercarriage protections, chasis strength or bend, getting stuck in 2wd, and getting out using off-road hardware, approach, departure, ramp-over angle, cross axel tests to determine traction on loaded wheels in 1, 2 & subsequently 3 wheels under slippery conditions, low speed water wading, gradeability and so much more! This review is a purely subjective exercise that doesn't add true value to anyone who was not present there. 2. Rather than bashing the cars through muddy trails with great momentum to go through the trails (which, by any means cannot justify the nitty-gritties of a car's actual off-road potentials), please go in depth with the nuances of off-roading. Even open-diff. 4wd cars can cope this trail in the way you are showing here! 4. If you run out of off-roading topics to cover, without ego, you can refer to SUV Battle, CarExpert and other Australian channels, Carwow, Autocar India off-day videos.
Why is Top Gear brand getting so diluted ? So many big ticket trucks in one place and the content is so watered down. It is just as it says, a sludge fest at best, with mud flying around - no new learning. I'm sorry I got talking cars ,watching the OG Top Gear, I genuinely feel you guys are capable of much more with the brand TG. We all owe that much to Top Gear which made many petrol heads

@@swayam759i own one. I've been to places that the hilux will beg on its knees to not be taken. While Gurkha wades water above its top bonet indicator at 20kmph for at least 800 m without struggle. I've driven it where I can only see the sky but not the surface I'm driving on the stairs of a hill. These are just unbeatable by any other brands. Show me an offroader with high end individual suspension, show me an offroader with full fledged optional differential, show me an offroader that can do 14kmpl mileage driving at 100 constantly. You can't. I even own a force one that gives me 16 kmpl hauling 2 tonne unladen along with beefy 8 guys which is 2tn + 600+kg. Cuz it's all run by the tried and tested oh610 Mercedes engine that just didn't give up. 3rd gear 100 kph. At less than 3.5k rpm. The luxury is missing but instead of a shitty 45 lakh HILUX (i respect the OG HILUX) of today I'LL buy a Gurkha and mod it with all the luxury of audio with offroad dampening and still have money for a base CURVV.
Toyota Hilux has been doing this for almost decades in the most rugged countries across the world.Nothing comes even close.All other Vechiles are very capable.
The Thar you see was one of the rescue cars - and wasn't in stock form unlike the other cars. Mahindra didn't have the Thar or the Thar Roxx available on the day of our shoot unfortunately
Where the Jimny got stuck, other SUVs should have also been tested to check their ability and see if they would get stuck in the same spot or not.. Though Jimny's Highway tyres are the big disadvantage for jimny especially on such muddy roads

As a frequent Offroader and automobile enthusiast myself, I just wanted to tell you that if you really want to compare these cars offroad then you must put all these cars on same track. I mean like you haven't shown g wagon, wrangler, thar in slush. And in slush if you rev the car, it will definitely get stuck by wheel spinning, so you have to leave the car in 4x4 idle and just apply soft rev as required. And to be honest Apart from Wrangler and g wagon the cars in india which are true offroaders, i mean pure blood offroaders are Maruti Gypsy King and 2015-2019 thar crde with diff lock..these cars will get you anywhere if you have the skills in yourself to drive these technically and not by just revving and rough handling.
A suggestion Just bring a video of proper off-roading where cars are competing at same obstacles with their max. Not just telling that what these can do, what are its characteristics. Also please upgrade jimny tyres before that or get a little lifted if you can

I think, Gurkha is the best Off Road Vehicle. No one in going to do typical Off Road in expensive vehicles.

Diesel discovery sport has 430NM not 360NM as mentioned at 10:56. Petrol version has 360.
