    Scorsese has dedicated his life to the preservation and exhibition of world cinema through The Film Foundation and World Cinema Project (fun fact: he helped restore The Housemaid which was cited as a source of inspiration on Parasite). It was so heartwarming to see a disciple who was inspired by his craft go out of his way to honor him which speaks to Director Bong's character. One of my all-time favorite Oscar moments for sure. Congratulations to Bong Joon-ho and the rest of the Parasite cast/crew on a well-deserved victory!

    In an Oscars filled with too many political speeches and preaching it was someone from another country who showed everyone what people really want to see from winners at the Academy Awards.
    Bong Joon Ho was truly humble gracious and classy throughout the night.
    Especially here-taking the time to selflessly create a wonderful memorable moment like this for Martin Scorsese and his family.
    Parasite was a brilliant film that many people watching probably did not see.

      Aman M S Self-indulgent, overwrought, meandering and pointless. It’s the kind of speech his fans and change-the-world progressives of the twenty-something demographic will hail him for to be sure, but I’m not any of those (although I’ve always enjoyed his work). To me, it was just another preening Hollywood actor pontificating on the serious problems of the world and that’s a movie I’ve seen too often to be moved. He would have been better off just thanking his mom and agent. That would qualify as being original these days. If it makes you feel any better, Zellweger was even worse. At least Phoenix deserved his award...

    A lot of directors win an oscar and are later forgotten. Marty is a legend, not only because of the films he made, but for the entire generation of top-notch film makers influenced by his mastery. Todd Philipps was another director who took cues from him

    • @chanceshoemaker6332
      @chanceshoemaker6332 4 года назад +5

      Todd Philips took more than just cues. Joker literally blended the plot of King of Comedy and Taxi Driver into a joker backstory, and didn't nearly pull off the study of a disturbed character as well as Scorsese did in his films. It was certainly one of the better DC movies to come out recently, but very overrated

    0:43 i'm actually very surprised she didn't mention Bong Joon Ho which gave him the respect. I think not any other best director winner would have given Scorsese that respect. And there wouldn't have been any standing ovation. I have no real problem with that but i'm just wondering why she didn't mention the main reason for the standing ovation. 🤔

    • @hyunsunpark5536
      @hyunsunpark5536 4 года назад +1

      I've watched most interview of Bong, and that quote was really, deeply meaningful for him since years ago. As a story writer or film maker, when you see such a great master piece, you could feel "Gosh, it is impossible for me to make that kind of NICE one.." Even sometimes, you could get affected from those references after watching over and over. But if you look into yourself not anyone else outside, you could have something very unique, real and special, not similar with anyone or anything done before. So no need to disappoint or dislike your own story, just try to get inspired from inside of yourself, your real experience. If you write your own story, it could be most creative one.
      That is maybe it means, I guess. Hope it is helpful.

    I’m happy Hollywood did not remake & whitewash this movie (Parasite) like they did with other Asian movies like (surprise Surprise) Martin Scorsese’s The Departed which originally is a Japanese movie, so are other classics like The Ring, Old Boy & Battle Royal (which I think The Hunger Games ripped off) just to name a few. Hollywood has been doing this for YEARS. I’m sure you Boomers know The Magnificent 7.....well that’s based on a Japanese movie (Seven Samurai) which is a HELL of a Lot Better than that cowboy white thrash crap.

      What's the matter with you?
      Are you Indian? I haven't seen Minsara Kanna(1999) movie, but if so, are you claiming that Minsara Kanna movie should have received an award?
      Or do you want to say that Indian movies are better?
      I know that the Indian film industry is great. But I also know that Indian movies plagiarize many works illegally.
      But what makes you so confident?
      Do you think Hollywood in the U.S. is an idiot group? Do you think they will reward simple plagiarism?
      Would you like to give the award of Bong Jun-ho to the director of the Indian movie you mentioned?
      I will tell you what kind of Indian movies have plagiarized Korean movies.
      19 Indian films that plagiarized Korean films (Privately plagiarized works, not formally purchased for remake rights)

      17.Classic (2003) Chikubukuku (2010)
      18. Empty House (2004)
      19. Love Story _ Barphy
      What do you think about this?
      It's a movie that's been illegally plagiarized.
      Korea has not filed any lawsuits (because there is no way to prevent them)
      Indian films would have illegally plagiarized not only Korean films but also films from many countries around the world, but I understand it is the same in China.
      I don't want to blame the plagiarism.
      However, it does not seem good for India to strongly criticize the movie by mentioning plagiarism.
