This is a most excellent film analysis channel. I am a screenwriter, who hasn't gone pro, and I thoroughly enjoy your approach to each storyteller in the series. You follow the number one rule in screenwriting: show don't tell. Bong Joon-Ho is one of those filmmakers I have come to respect and admire greatly over the years. Each film is a natural progression in his journey as an artist and craftsman. This is why I look forward to each movie he makes.
Fun fact: bong is from a wealthy family in South Korea. Like any Asian families, his parents wanted him to become a doctor or a lawyer. But he loves movies. So he went to school and majored in screenwriting. His parents stopped supporting him financially. He started to take part time jobs while directing small funded movies, barely getting paid. One day, after his PT job, he went to a restaurant to eat with friends and his friends reacted negatively to his “smell.” Here is where the Parasite’s theme was born.
Interesting, it’s also said in his wiki page that he spent about 10 years dealing with financial issues and even had to borrow rice from his University alumni cause at some points he couldn’t even afford rice. However, in an interview he mentions that when he co-wrote the screenplay Phantom: The yellow submarine for a big production company, he earned a good check and bought hundreds of baby food for his baby. I love this man, and I think every filmmaker should admire him for never giving up on his passion 🙌🏼
This was fantastic. So many invaluable gems in this interview with Bong Joon-ho. I've written down and saved each writers' ten tips. I open them up for inspiration. This is one of my favorite channels on RUclips. It's a must watch for any developing screenwriter, in my opinion.

No, he majored in sociology in college. In college, all the movies were done in the movie club. There is too much wrong information in your comment😞

Subversion of genres was the first thing Parasite hit me as I went in blind.
