When I turn 80 years old I will buy a HD , but for now at 76 years old , I Revell in my youth on my RE super meteor.
Ha ha ha. Good for you. Live to ride 🙏
Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Built in Chennai, India. Was not good enough for me. Two years 40,00O all over Thailand. Those nasty vibrations. I'm still suffering from Wry Neck/Stiff Neck. In 2023 I made a booking the all-new RE Enfield Super Meteor 650 at "BIMS" Bangkok International Motor Show. I thought about the RE legacy? Spare parts from India etc,? My friend "KAWA" rider recommended me KAWASAKI VULCAN 650 S. Tested it! And bougt it.
ROYAL ENFIELD THAILAND never provided a test ride! Booking but no demo unit! "Yes No Have!"
That was last year. I'll tell you. No Regrets! Today im proudly wearing the KAWASAKI jacket and Taichi Kawasaki trousers. My KSV built in Thailand. Spare parts. "Yes Have!" Greetings from the northern Thai hinterland.

The Sm650 is still the best value for money .
I never really appreciated that as much, until this test ride and video 🙏
A good looking cruiser without all the Harley baggage, give me the RE.
The Super Meteor is a good looking bike 190% 🙏
Madame a raison 🤫
Madam is right. Ha ha ha. Yes she is. Yes, for me to ride a Harley in needs to be now. Because in 10 years time it will be too heavy for sure. But I appreciate the SM 650 a lot more now after the making of this video.
So you could buy the whole royal Enfield range for just one street glide 🤔
Pretty much yessss ha ha ha 🙏
Exactly 😂
Greetings from Brazil.
Firstly thank you for speaking not that fast, so I can understand crystal clear everything you say.
Once I’m a Portuguese native speaker. Hahahaha
Secondly, I’m 37 and starting on bike world, recently I ordered a super meteor 650 and waiting its arrival. The HD is really lovely, the street glides are awesome, the prices here are so high as there, bud, and it is a big no for me. And it is not just buy one, but needs to be included maintenance, annual taxes and etc into the account.
The sm650 is pretty too, very well designed and not that costly, who knows in the near future they come with a 1200 cc engine?
Anyway, thank you for your videos!
Keep rolling!
Cheers
Ricardo
Thank you Ricardo. Good luck with the Meteor. 650 is plenty enough for a new rider. Ride safe 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand I will do so! Thank you! Cheers!
If you owned both, finance aside, I think yude hop on the Supermeteor for short rides, errands and the like. The Harley would be for big trips and of course bike nights to show it off.😎 Have you seen any clips of the RE Guerrilla yet. It reminds me of the RD 350 LC Yamaha of the 70's. Much lower seat height so could be a next bike option for me in the spring.
I would get a Honda CT125 for errands if I owned a Harley lol. In my early years of biking I owned an RD125 and TZR250. You are right, the new bike does look like an RD350. Good luck in the spring 🙏
I can see that a little. The geurilla is more like an early 70s yamaha DT3 250 enduro just a little beefier.
RE 650 all the way. HD although impressive is certainly not worth the price. Mrs. T is always right! Respects to her!
I always have the last word……. Yes dear 😂🙏
The Street Glide is one of the bikes that I really like. That and the Gold Wing. And I'm a lucky bugger, I can afford either of them. But I just can't see the value in them, relative to price. Yes, they're lovely bikes, but here in Australia, they're also $50k bikes. That's not much less than what many teachers take home each year, here.
It's a lot of money for a motorcycle, and it's only a motorcycle, it's nothing else. And then there's the insurance that goes with a bike that expensive. And you know that the excess isn't going to cover any of the damage that you're most likely to do... the driveway/garage drop.
Instead, I ride a used Kawasaki W800 which I self insure. It's pretty much the same thing as your Royal Enfield. It cost a small fraction of the price that the Harley does, and for the riding that I actually do, as opposed to the vision we all have of the riding that we will do, it's pretty much a perfect motorcycle. It's fast enough, it's comfortable enough, and the panniers are well enough specced to get a few groceries home in.
I know that the Harley's more comfortable, bigger faster and carry more groceries. It will tour great distances far better than my "little" Kawasaki. I don't need any of that. The one thing that the Harley does have is status... in certain circles. And have a guess what? I don't care to impress anyone who moves in those circles. I avoid them. I need the one thing that's priceless and isn't on any spec sheets. Smiles per Miles. And you don't need to spend and arm and leg on those.
Thanks for your content.
Thank you for your detailed comment. The Kawasaki W800 is one hike I would love to ride. Looks and sounds awesome. Still a hefty price tag here in Thailand though. The Meteor 650 did cost me a year’s salary here in Thailand on Thai wages. Which is why the Harley is way out of reach for me. I will still keep on buying the lottery tickets. Thanks for watching 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand The Kawasaki W800 pays homage to Kawasaki's first "big" bike, the W1. The W1 was far too expensive to start with, and then Honda released the CB750. Honda consigned the "big" Kawa to the history books. When the w650 was first introduced in '99, it was far too expensive and then Triumph came along with the Hinkley Bonneville! History repeats!
The 800 is a great bike, really well built and bullet proof, but they don't justify their price when new. Worth keeping an eye out for on the used market, though. I got mine for a steal, and it only had 1,500 km on the clock.
I'm strictly a lottery ticket on birthdays and Christmas's kind of guy. Even if I won the lotto tomorrow, I don't think that I could bring myself to drop $50k
Aud. ($33 US) on two wheels. But each to their own. I'd quite happily spend 10 times that on a nice wooden ketch and throw countless amounts of time and money at it 'till the day I die. One man's idea of value isn't another's.
Good luck with the lottery tickets and thank you for your reply.
The streetglide is an extravagant thing that you consider if you can afford it comfortably. For me it’s not my taste to begin with so I don’t sweat never owning one. and the only thing bike about is that it has two wheels. It Is a buick on two wheels.
I think you are right 👌🙏
Thanks for this. Watching your backlog of videos whilst considering a SM purchase. £4000 for a used 2023 with 2500 miles I think is a bargain, and thats with a comfort seat, footpegs and tail tidy. I would probably put some hagons on and then enjoy the ride. Time to ponder
An absolute bargain. You have enough room there to change those rear shocks out. Good luck. 🤞 🙏
Thanks for the video, and the comparison. When comparing the HD and the Enfield price, it's in Thailand, interesting to consider that the Enfield is made in India, and therefor has import duty attached; the new made in Triumph 400s are around £3200 for the Speed and £3800 for the Scrambler, which makes the HD price seem even more unfathomable - unless you love to have a Street Glide of course, and then it's well worth it 😊.
Actually both Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson are assembling in Thailand now. In an attempt to lower import tax I suppose. But where wages are much lower then American or UK, it’s crazy the price of the Street Glide is an extra third on top. Makes it even more unaffordable A years salary I suppose in US or UK. 6 years Salary here. The new Triumphs are a fantastic price. Will be interesting to see how the New RE Guerrilla 450 dents Triumph on this niche. 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand That is interesting; I didn't realise Enfield is assembling here in Thailand; it will be interesting to see how much the RE Guerrilla is.
@@PaintedRoadsYes, just North of Petchaburi I believe. But don't think that includes the Meteor 650. Lots of new bikes in the pipe line for m RE ,🙏
I am swapping my recently bought my meteor 350 for a super meteor 650. Picking it up this Thursday. Cost 9300$ CDA
Nice. I hope all goes well for you. I did struggle at first changing from the 350 to the 650 🙏 RE Meteor 350 to 650. Should you upgrade?

@@Teacher-T-Thailand thanks for the video. I hope I will not regret it.
@@Teacher-T-Thailand all went very well, no regrets, I love my SM650. Much better ride much smoother. I am a happy camper
@@sellignomod83 Great news 🙏
The two bedrooms and new kitchen add on at my place was 1,600,000.00bt😮
There you go. You could have bought a Street Glider! 555 🙏
RE SM650 is just so awesome. Especially for its price range and what it does.
HD is a novelty which is fun to ride but not worth it I think.
HD has the prestige. But Royal Enfield is getting there. And for the money, unbeatable 🙏
@@Teacher-T-ThailandRE prestige can come back full swing if they make a full blown return to the UK. They already have most of it when you consider it is the oldest brand on the planet.

That's prestige , that's history . Harley 🤢
*Plough*
Nice 👍🏽!!! Great job and topic ❤
Thank you🙏
1:43 ... did someone forget to fit footpegs on that Low Rider ST?
Ha ha ha. Yes it looks like. 😂🙏
The street glide is a beautiful beast but the Super Meteor pound for pound and dollar for dollar hits the sweet spot. I wouldn't own the Harley even if it was the same price.. too big and heavy for an all around bike and way too expensive (especially the Thai price)!
Yes the Meteor 650 is great value in comparison. There are some very rich Thais in Thailand that can afford such prices, and adore the Americana of Harley Davidson. 🙏
I've ridden Harleys since the 90's. They are heavy but a great bike for long rides here in the States. I took my gal from California to Central Illinois on our 2017 Ultra Classic and loved the entire trip. The same can't be said for the rides I took her on our Kawasaki ZZR1200.
Different bikes for different situations. Thats why I have the Harley, Yamaha T7, Husqvarna 501, and a RE 500 Classic.
Question, are they named Street Gliders overseas, instead of Street Glide?
Love your videos. 👍
Fantastic collection of bikes you have there. I do aim to own a Street Glide one day. Something in life to aim for. They are still know as street glide. For some reason I can’t stop saying glider. Which is what it certainly feels like 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand no worries, I kinda like it when companies change the name of a product to fit a demographic and thought maybe Harley had done that.
Whatever you do, don’t ride a Road Glide. The handling is a bit better than the Street Glide. I have a batwing because I’d never been attracted to the shark front. After riding one I kinda wish I had the frame mounted fairing instead of the fork mounted, even if the batwing fairing does look better to me.
Another good video. We are waiting for you to install mini ape handlebars on your meteor :)
Thank you. Ha ha. I like the bare naked look of the bike. I I do like ape hangers on my old Honda. But on the meteor to sit more upright, means I would need a screen or batwing, and that’s not the look or expense I want. 😂🙏
Not a fan of the glide look, i like the 883
Me too, but they are too thirsty and shaky 😁🙏
Very good video. I just love the looks of the sm. That green is amazing. Thank you for the great videos
Thank you. It was between the green and blue for me. But the blue was too modern a colour for the bike. The Interstellar green has the retro classic look I wanted. I do think it's about time some new colours are introduced. Will be interesting to see the new Classic 650 options when it becomes a available. 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand agreed on the color. I have the same. The interstellar green makes it look more vintage and raw.
Hi biker, it's the same thinking as a classic car, where to buy a Porsche or Ferrari, it's all a money problem. If you have a lot of money, you buy a Harley, theoretically when you buy one, a Harley, you buy it opinion. You can keep it 25 years, 30 years the Harley, it's another philosophy. Chai-Dii
100% correct 🙏🙏
It's awesome bike but price wise too heavy for normal buyer.(I mean price wise)
Maybe a super meteor is the best for us right!😅
It is probably the most heaviest, most powerful and most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. The Rolls Royce of bikes I suppose. And a Rolls Royce price. I’m happy with my Ford Escort for now. 😂🙏
Appreciate what you have and it becomes abundant. At least you ride and that what’s most important
Lovely choice! Have you seen the Sport Glide? I think its lighter and easier to convert to sort of a bobber.
I love the prestige of HD. But it took a years salary of Thai wages to buy the Meteor. HD is just a dream. It would be 6 years salary. Sadly can't do it. One day when I win the lottery 😁🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Sport Glide is cheaper compared to the Street Glide here in Oz, not sure if there's a Sport Glide in Thailand....or maybe theres a second hand Street Glide, but the thing with HD, they hold their value well😊.
My philosophy is "you can't take it with you" if you sold tomorrow in desperation you would still get £25k. Buy what makes you happy not what is good value. I'm in Indonesia and have to pay 3 x as much compared to the UK to purchase. My last bike was a glide standard, (very similar to what you rode) had it for 10 years and sold because of COVID, would buy it back tomorrow. Go with your heart not your bank account your wife will be fine 😁
The street Glide is certainly a bike I aspire to have one day. But I have to face reality for now. What are you riding now? 🙏
The Street Glide doesn't look too bad, if you take away that God awful fairing. The rear panniers look decent and blend in well with the bike, but honestly, the front fairing is just ugly.....I'd keep my S Meteor with it's hard rear shocks over that front fairing any day 🤣
Yes, I am that picky over what my bike looks like lol....thanks Teacher T, great watch :)
Ha ha ha. Lose that faring, I'd lose the drawer. And I think it is a major part of the bike. Owners are putting them on their Meteors. There I agree with you 🙏
Want a Street Glider without a fairing? Just get a Road Kinger!
Hello. Thanks a lot. May i ask a question about headlight of shotgun, does it fit sm 650 ? / I do not like sm650 headlight it is too big for me and i am looiking for alternatives.. BEst regards.
I am sure they have the same headlight unit. 🙏
Awesome bud sir 🎉
Thank you 🙏
Tut tut Teacher T, English teacher... 5:02 `I`ve never RODE a motorcycle`... I hope you don`t teach your students that error 😏
Agreed, the naked look of your bike suits it but everyone has their own opinions as to what looks right, of course.
Definitely not worth 6 Royal Enfield Super Meteors, that`s for sure.
Past simple = rode. Past perfect = ridden. I’m very simple 😂 Found a shop selling Batwings for the Meteor today. Changes the look of the bike completely. 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Agreed...I never rode a motorcycle...I`ve never ridden a motorcycle.
Anyway, enough of my pedantic comments (nobody likes a smart ass, especially when they`re right); it will be good to see the new batwings on the Super Meteor 👍
Would you or anyone have a link to the photo of the SM 650 with the FXRT fairing at the end of this video?
Sorry I don’t. But please feel free to post if you find . 🙏
I would't swap for the Harley out of principle! 10,000 GBP more for the the people in Thailand! WTF how is that in anyway fair or reasonable?? Besides I'd much rather own a Super Meteor anyway 😁 Infinitely cooler than a Harley in my opinion 😎
Import tax sadly. Not as bad as the 100% it used to be before. The elite and rich love them here. Like you, I'm happy with the Meteor 🤣😁🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand fair enough.
If it's for free. SURE !!!!! 😆
Exactly 😂🙏
The only harleys that catch my attention are sportsters 1200 and 883. And the softail. Luckily on Facebook marketplace I can find sportsters in great condition near me for 3000$ to 4000$ and sometimes less. Which I may cough up down the pike. However with harleys political wokeshit, I’m in no hurry to own one. But I’m happy with my meteor 650. When you appreciate what you have it becomes a lot. Plus I have the charm the streetglide doesn’t have.
Harleys are crazy prices in Thailand. And also a much sought after bike. Very much an elite cult following / prestige. 🙏
Decent effort again.. I'd boil me own head before buying a Harley .. !
*Plough*
But would you swap for your Meteor?! 😂🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Yeah. Then sell it buy a new meteor, a himmy 411 and a condo 😆
*Plough*
3 times the cc and 6 times the price 🤔🤔
Harley is an exclusive club to join these days. Especially here in Thailand. 🙏
Man is total different bikes the street glide is touring bike and the Royal is cruising bike
Agreed. Which is why the video is not titled Versus, but would I swap? It is Rolls Royce vs Ford I suppose. The Street Glide is an awesome machine, with an awesome price tag. Even worse price in Thailand than USA or UK. My Meteor took a years salary to buy it here on Thai wages. The Street Glide would be 6. If ever I win the lottery though, I would certainly entertain the idea of buying one. 🙏
Hello,i come 2011 to Thailand and buy a new HD STREET BOB 96 cui ,2019 i buy a new 114 cui Heritage Softail, becourse i want sit bequem,i am 70 old.
But the Royal Enfield looks very nice and have better price.
HD is all models overpriced, and much people have worldwide
a money problem, economy go down arround the world!
Nice bikes. Sadly HD is too overpriced in today's climate I think. Which is why RE are gaining market share with their well priced bikes. But the prestige of HD is still something to envy. Safe riding. Choc Dee 🙏
I find the HD to be a ridiculous oversized piece of poo(:-)
It was a nice bike. But yes over priced. Too many bells and whistles I would never use. 🙏

as well as being a teacher i am an idiot
Are you?
If you are an English teacher, why did you say, “Math” instead of “Maths?”
Both "math" and "maths" are abbreviations for the word "mathematics", the complex science that studies numbers and shapes. We can't claim that any of these abbreviated forms is right or wrong, because they are just shorter versions for the full noun ("mathematics"). Whether you prefer adding the last "s" or not is a matter of personal choice and culture, according to how you've been educated in school and how you have seen it spelled more frequently.
@@Teacher-T-Thailand , but listening to you accent, you are from the West Country in the UK. Plymouth area I guess? Are you saying “Math” to appease your American speaking audience (and many Asians learn that), or was it a ‘Freudian slip?’
I like your videos, by the way. Ive owned a Super Meteor since February 2023, completed over 6,000 miles and am very happy with it. Keep on doing what you are doing, I am a loyal fan!

Well, if you find the Harley more comfortable than the Super Meteor, then you must try a Honda Gold Wing 1800, another planet.
Food for thought. Thanks for the recommendation 🙏
