  • Former US spy Anne Sacoolas refused to talk to Sky News when she was asked whether she had a message for the family of Harry Dunn.
Ms Sacoolas was leaving her lawyer's office in the US when she was asked for a comment from a Sky News team.
She was earlier sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, for causing the death of Harry by careless driving in 2019.

Despicable. I am an American citizen with dual nationality living in the UK and Anne Sacoolas has allowed our judiciary (effortlessly, though) to be mocked inordinately with today's verdict. The 'barrier' the judge cites in Sacoolas being overseas as an unenforceable jurisdiction for custodial punishment is impugned by her subsequent admonition that she is 'disqualified for driving for 12 months'. This is absurdly irrelevant and, quite frankly, egregious to monumental levels. If a woman 'convicted' of a child's death on the roads is not punitively imprisoned consequently, how the f--k does 'disqualification from driving' in a country she will never set foot again bear any sort of penalty?! The judge was inappropriately cajoled into these editorialisations, we all know, but this dichotomised statement is so bipolar in sentimentality it is sublimely ridiculous.

She must be bitterly regretting and cursing the accident. I bet she secretly thinks it's Harry's fault for being there. It's the nature of car accidents: they require everything to 'perfectly fail'. If either Harry Dunn or Anne Sacoolas had been travelling at a slightly different time, the accident would not have happened and Harry would still be alive today. Her real punishment is not so much the eight-month suspended prison sentence: it's the fact that she's been publicly humiliated for having killed someone in an accident which, she knows, was her fault. Her name is smeared forever and ever more.

There is much more to this than meets the eye. Who, or what exactly is she and what was she doing in the U.K. that made the U.S. rigorously defend her 'diplomatic immunity' despite only - as we're told - being the wife of a U.S. intelligence officer? Only Sacoolas' conscience gave in, in the end and she agreed to prosecution, albeit remotely from the U.S.
    Rest in Peace, Harry.
