  • A former US spy has been sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for 12 months for causing the death of Harry Dunn by careless driving in 2019.
Anne Sacoolas, 45, was driving on the wrong side of the B4031 in Northamptonshire when she hit the 19-year-old, who was riding in the opposite direction.

UNBELIEVABLE! I can’t believe she walks away with a suspended sentence! I watched 24 hours in police custody last week and Adam White, who chased away burglars from his property and injured them when they all collided in a crash, got 22 months in prison and killed no one. Just like her, the burglars got a suspended sentence plus 200 hours of community service, while he was imprisoned. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY!! It makes my blood boil!

Far be it from me to question their response but, that woman killed their son, fled the scene of the crime for years and refused to accept accountability. She gets an 8-month suspended sentence, which means as long as she doesn't get arrested for a year she effectively gets no punishment at all? And his parents feel satisfied? That's justice? That's what they think their son's life was worth? Really.....?? There are people in jail right now for longer than that for possession of marijuana. I honestly don't understand any part of this.

If Sacoolas had stayed in the UK and faced a court, in all probability she world have been found guilty of driving without due care and attention, or accidental manslaughter, and under the circumstances of driving in a country with a different system she would've been found guilty and probably got less of a sentence, (especially considering her diplomatic status) I doubt she had any real intention of killing Harry , she made a mistake and it was an accident.
What irritates is the fact that the Americans and their Government feel that they can do what they want and have no respect for British/European courts and there systems and procedures, Note the American student and her boyfriend who jumped bail when accused of the death of the British student in Italy and refused to return to Italy.
Even Harry's mother stated the reluctance to stand up to the Americans (not shown in this clip)
I suspect this and the fact that Prince Andrew was also on trial in America at the same time meant a bit of horse trading was going on.

I'm very happy to hear that the woman who killed Harry Dunn has finally been convicted for careless driving.
The sentence is pointless as there was no prison term imposed. She didn't dare come back to England for the trial but (presumably) is free to come to England again in the future - with zero consequences.
Having said this, this appalling woman didn't intentionally kill Harry Dunn. She was driving on the wrong side of the road because she was careless and (as an American) had forgotten that vehicles drive in the left-hand lane in the UK.
Nonetheless, she (and the UK authorities involved) are appalling. She fled (helped by UK authorities), to escape being held to account for Harry Dunn's death.
