I completely agree with you about the weight of the Tilaria being heavier than the Surron. You won't get beat up nearly as much like you will on a Surron. Allowing the suspension to do its job and soak up the bumps.

  • @ElationProductions

I agree with the start button. Usually I'm not one for extra nannies and safeties on stuff, but like you say, it's good to have that extra step so you don't just turn the key and the bike is hot. It's the same procedure I'm already used to on my gas road bike so that familiarity is nice too. Same mentality I have towards the left hand brake. I was surprised to find having a rear brake where I'm used to the clutch being isn't as weird an experience as I'd thought it would be. I normally pull that lever in before braking anyways, so other then still looking for a phantom toe brake, the transition was pretty easy.

Great review. I am very interested in how you use the gear box during the scrambles and .. drum roll, ,could a gear box be retrofitted to the Sur Ron. It seems like the bikes are very similar. - UPDATE: I now better understand that the gearbox does not allow one to "shift gears," and I left my foolish question in to save others from making the same mistake.

I picked up a Sting a week ago. Its a great bike. On my tracks Eco mode only just makes it up but Sports has plenty of power. Havnt been able to ride it for last 3 days due to rain. Sick of washing it down so waiting for sime good weather. Good excuse to get the mx boots and gear out.

Absolutely brilliant chain of videos on the Talaria and the Sur ron comparison, thank you very much! I'm picking one up for city use mostly to bob and weave traffic and also do the odd jump and forest shortcut, and while i was leaning a lot into the Talaria, over here it's about a nice chunk of change more expensive. I think i'm mostly sold on the Sur ron from your videos, especially since over here there's more official representation for the Sur ron and probably better warranty/service on them.
I'd kill for a gearboxed Sur ron though.

I'm 100% interested in range (larger ah batteries will be out soon for the Talaria) and like the quietness and the gearbox of the bike. I just sold a modded Sondor's because it was way too large and heavy. I'm 71 years old and want something more manageable. With all of this in mind do you still suggest the Sur-ron for my style of riding? Thanks.

I have to agree on the seat angle thing. I think a taller fork and 21" front wheel would solve the issue - but agree in stock form it is brutal. They need to take a look at modern mx bikes and realize a flatter seat will allow you to move all over the bike with ease.
I will say though I'm coming from a surron x and I much prefer the talaria already. The surron seat is similar but not quite as bad - but theres way too many other pros for me to miss the surron for my use.

Which bike (including an upgraded 72v SurRon) would be better for that specific type of riding in your mind? So basically the only difference is the Sting has a higher level of regenerative braking and is slightly bigger with a bigger seat? The Talaria's wider tires is hardly worth mentioning since it's only 10mm which is just under half an inch. And the Talaria's extra 1,000 Watts of power is negated by the extra weight of the bike. I've been wanting a small electric dirt bike for a long time but until one comes out with an actual dirt bike fork there's no way I'm going to spend that kind of money. Since Talaria isn't selling many of these bikes they better step up their components to create a real buzz in the industry.
