Let me know what you thought of this video!
id like to see tj try and explain anything on his car like the way you explained shocks.. that would be hilarious
paulhwly Yee he works at bc racing which make coilovers so that would be unfair
paulhwly Yee all TJ explains is why he runs shit wheels and 50mm spacers and he can't even do that well
paulhwly Yee he works with c
coilovers and stuff tj just does it
Fuvk that douche bag all he ever does is get people to do his shit esp Calvin
Tj hunt, the man who bought a 350z that he couldn't drift stock, so he decided to put a widebody on it, a battleaero wing, an angle kit, absurdly large spacers and a highlighter yellow wrap. All to still not be able to drift it. Yea everyone has to learn, but money can't buy skill
Taylor I can't get enough of your videos this is one of my favorite channels on youtube... Keep it up man!
Thanks buddy!!
Brandon jeeps same
Brandon jeeps same here , Taylor is so awesome
Eds JDM Vlogs Nice Fairlady ;)
watching Taylor mess with the setup so much makes me want to support BC and everything they do. not many companies would go through that much R&D to get it just right
It's funny how someone commented Awesome 2 minutes after the release when the video is 11 minutes. But I can understand him these videos are usualy very good.
I really like that BC being a custom set up brand that you're able to get exactly what you want for your vette as well as giving them in house feed back on a product that they can effective market... its basically like you're their in house R&D guy lol.... good stuff as always Taylor.
That's actually what I do at work!
Id love to learn more about what you do specifically with BC more in depth. you should make a video!
if I here alcatrazzzzz one more time ima lose my shit
Theogrn yeah thats one thing i wish taylor would change is using the same music all the time, the one song he uses for filler clips reminds me of diddy kong racing for n64 where you could just rip the vehicles around a little free roam type map.
Actually Alcatraz studio produces some awesome songs!
TheLoneWolfRider the dude who makes the beats is a friend of Taylor's so he's helping him out by using it
Sam Chung well dude needs to make a new intro for taylor and some new filler music haha. Dont get me wrong i enjoyed it for a little while. Its just its EVERY video.
Theogrn alcatrazzzz
YAY! A youtube video about suspension with legitimate suspension science and theory! Dude, the fact you even mentioned suspension travel and bump stops in a video created in 2017 blows my mind...........the fact you EXPLAINED progressive dampening and decided on function > "moar low bruh" makes me soooooooooo happy.
Initially I wasn't totally in love with the wheels, but now they've grown on me and I literally love them.
Those edits were slick!
John Barnes ass fuck!!!!!
this is one of the few genuine car enthusiast channels on the tube!
Thank you for actually taking the time to explain and compare the different systems. You definitely do learn something new everyday. I love the new stance as well man.
Basically digressive is the ultimate Daily Driver coilover?
Yeah pretty much. It'll perform more predictably as cornering gets more and more aggressive yet makes bumps less harsh when driving around town.
if you like it harsh, yes
Taylor I love you and all your content, you're really one of the few guys that I get excited to see their daily videos
Taylor sold me on BC coilovers and I am not even shopping for coilovers LOL
i realize Im kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to watch newly released series online?
@Cayson Christopher i watch on FlixZone. Just search on google for it =)
@Cayson Christopher Try flixzone. You can find it on google :)
Most underrated youtuber right here.. love the vids Taylor
nice editing on the coil-over removal, you sir earned a like.
The finger snaps are too smooth, keep up the awesome quality content Taylor 👌🏻
I dig how there is a good mix of fun and informative videos on this channel. Keep it up dude!
THANK YOU!!! 8-) the info you included paramount for me in making my decision to go with BC Racing's DS over its BR Series with Swift springs for my 2001 Toyota (2zz-swapped) MR2 Spyder was twofold: 1. your side-by-side physical comparison & description @ 1:50, exemplifying the DS as what blatantly appears to be of heavier duty, thus of higher quality; 2. your simple but most helpful chart @ 3:!5, visibly exemplifying the effective difference between the physics of a standard/linear shock/strut design (like the BR Series) vs. a digressive shock/strut (like the DS Series), which seems to exemplify the digressive design theory as being superior to the standard linear design for not merely a sports car, but just about any vehicle.
Is the DR series now called DS?
@@DuBstep115 i'm not certain, but i'm kind of thinking that might be the case. i just checked their product line & i don't see a DR series listed. the DS is definitely a digressive piston design: www.bcracing-na.com/product/ds-series-coilover-toyota-mr2-spyder-2000-2005?gfid=p3080-c24643
Digressive shocks are the bomb. That's why everyone praises the fortune auto coils. I bet the Digressive BCs are just as good. Has a nice tuner car feel but doesn't kill you on the street.
FA's are way beyond BC's with their double concave digressive pistons and valving. But the real reason why neither of them are truly good for a real race team is because they both are held back by the same fundamental design flaws. They're both 2-piece coilovers. For that reason, they will ALWAYS be limited/robbed of total shock travel. If you want full compression stroke before hitting the bumpstops, guess what? You have to sacrifice all your rebound travel to have it. And vise versa. Whereas a TRUE chassis-specific 1-piece Coilover won't have that problem. You'll have near-OEM travel or potentially even greater with a one piece shock. That's why one piece shocks are never less than $3-5k+. They range anywhere normally from 5k-15k for a set of 4 shocks. And those are what real race teams use. Not these two piece coilovers. You can find out more about this with some research. If you want the best just skip all 2-pc shocks completely. Even ohlins fall into that category (atleast most of their offerings that are less than $3k).
In layman terms the most shock stroke you'll ever see in a 2-pc shock is in the 80mm-125mm range.
1-pc shocks will be 180-200mm+.
There's no comparison. You get both full rebound travel and full compression travel (even with slammed race car ride heights) with true single piece coilovers.
The majority of these budget coilover brands won't want you to know this though. Because 2-pc shocks are just cheaper to assemble. These companies just buy shock cartilages from a overseas catalog and if you're lucky they do their own revalving n some r&d. It's what allows us to have them as an option in our price range. It is what it is
Cheers yaw and awesome content as always Taylor. Past and present
This tech comes out of motocross. As they stiffen up the shocks to prevent bottoming on slow hits, like landing a jump, the rider would be absolutely punished by sharp bumps like roots and rocks. It is called "multi-speed" valving in MX. It didn't take long for the rest of racing world to adopt that, especially since manufactures like Ohlins make both MX and car shocks. (I've raced MX and offroad for many years)
The other slow input digressive shocks really manage, besides driver input, are track undulations. Degressive cars feel PLANTED in undulations.
Some years back, my wife bought me a "drive a retired NASCAR" package at Texas Motor Speedway. What blew me away about those cars was not the power, but how amazingly stupendous the suspension was. Fast forward to today, I've put custom valved and sprung Bilstein inverted cartridges on my Z06. Along with Delrin bushings, the drive experience is "just like that."
It is really hard to overstate how much better the car is. Body control is flawless while the ride is buttery smooth. Traction in chop is way up, especially in braking bumps. The tires just follow the surface better. I am running a fully built 8.2L RHS block LS. Regardless, the suspension is definitely the star of the show. If you're going to mod your Covette, this is where you should start (but won't)
Not trying to dick ride or find a reply literally just wanted to say your format of vlogging and more specifically like install videos and such like the Miata series is so like refreshing and captivating all at the same time I'm trying to find the words for it but just the way it's all filmed and edited plus how diligent you are in your craft it always keeps me coming back. Shoutout to you Kevin lol
Thanks buddy! That was really nice to hear!
Love the tech explaination, nice and simple but had all the importaint info. Quality content as always. Keep up the work.
@Taylor Ray this video is why I subbed in the first place. Actual car performance mods with purpose and info! Thanks for the content!
I kinda laughed when you originally bought that Vette, but now I want it! nicely done sir!
Love the in car view of you driving
Really informative bro, Finished the video and actually learned something new, Thanks man! Keep up the great work
I enjoyed the Engineering Explained whiteboard bit.
Man that made the rear settle nice. Got my manhood standing at attention
I love how u take your time to teach us. appreciate it bro!
Man I would pay for car mechanic classes if you offered them, awesome video man keep it up!
I learn something now. keep up the good work man. hopefully you can help me when I finally get a chance to work on the 86
....looking forward to see what the vette does once you get it dialed in its cool to see the progress on this vette keep up the great job
Really good vid and down to earth explaination of what digressives are all about (really appreciate this stuff! As an automotive engineering student I'm often frustrated about the lack of background knowledge when people mod their cars...) I've got a question though Taylor: would there be a major drawback to running digressives in the front and lineairs in the back on a FWD wagon? Cheers! And keep up the great content
any reply? looking for answer from export.
Lol Taylor the new engineering explained
I literally just got my DR series coilovers this past Thursday. I cant wait to put them on.
amazing.... great videos i just caught up of over a week of being gone on the road. i missed so much keep them coming.
Thanks man!!
That moment when you learn more from a video (thank you Taylor) than you did all semester at college...
I like the explanation of coils. I dont think many people understand the functionality of coils.
Those transitions are sick!
Hahaha it looks like I helped, but I didn't lol
DriftHappyTV ayeeeee DIABLO
Hyped on the LS3 240 bro 👌
Wasn't aware you had a channel...TAYLOR WHY DIDN'T(HAVEN'T?)YOU SHOUT HIM OUT?
U_Wot_m7+1 he has so had adam
So this is where Marco has been this whole time? Lol Good to see you doing well bro. 👊
I'm loving the build videos man.
+StellWair thanks man! It's coming along!
Loving where this build is going!
GodDamnit Taylor your making me want a corevette lol keep up the dope vids , car is looking sick👌🏽
All ways hit that like before cuz it's all ways lit af
Sweet video bro lovee your videos man keep it up I watch all your stuff can't get enough man peace brother
awesome to see development for speed parts in FL. Do you ever have tires with more than 30% tread left on the car, we do get rain in FL, haha.
Man the vette is looking killer now with that wheel gap in the rear missing!!
Car looks awesome man thanks for all the info on the set up
Man u guys would make a lot of ppl happy if you made coilovers for c4s..
Great expaination on the Digressive coilovers. sounds like a really interesting piece of kit, especialy for street use.
Love the rear camera view of your test drive but there was an incredible amount of glare in the front window from your dash. Any chance you can put in a dash pad to remove the glare in the future? Would love to see more of that view. Keep em coming, love your vids :)
great vid again Taylor cant wait for the next
the dance after taylor left was pretty fly
Video starts at 0:00
thanks m8!
Dat Boii u da reel MVP
couldn't have done it without ya
Fuck... That's where I went wrong
dat boi
I have to admit, the wheels are growing on me.
I was not a fan of them at first, but they're starting to look alright the more I look at them
The vette needs a cam already!! Love the video yo best car vlog yet
Actually took me a little bit to start watching Tyler's video I figured it would just be the same things Adam is doing... but it's really not and this dude has some decent ways of explaining what his doing which puts him up there with mcm motionautotv and bisforbuild
Might have to look into those digressive if you guys decide to make a kit for the C5
sweet I think I'm gonna pick up a set of DRs for my C5 once they're available.
Nice!
You should do a video on tips for people that are new to driving a manual car.
Decreasing unsprung weight probably helped too. Dig the stance.
Taylor you should put an Eaton Trac-Aide Differential with 3.73 on your C5 or a OS Giken Super Lock LSD 1.5 Way. everyone just welds diff you should show people the benefits of a LSD.
Love when your videos drop!
Hey taylor just a suggestion but I think it would sick if you did a light tint on the tail lights and the little light strip
Id be down to watch the mechanical installs multiple times
I like Engineer Explained Taylor.
Hi Taylor, how are you??
The vette is looking beautiful!!! Love it!!!
take care..
Got the BC Racing RM series for my FC, they keep the car from being a boat but these Wisconsin streets aren't the best for them :(
Cristopher I know what you mean I'm in Wisconsin too, we probably have some the worst roads in the nation. I have an FB RX-7 myself!
Taylor!!! big fan from Costa Rica! I'm planning on getting suspension for my 1992 Nissan NX100 (not very common car) and there aren't many options available to choose from down here! So maybe I can get some advice on a set of BC coilovers to bring from the states! Thx and keep up the awesome videos
Dude A+ on the intro today
Really wish BCRacing made coilovers for a 1st Gen 9-5. But they weren't popular enough for them to spend the time making them. So lost as to where to go for coilovers now
it would be awesome to do more of an indepth talk about different coil overs and suspension set ups, since you seem to have quite a bit of knowledge
Incredible video and knowledge, I was worried how you would adjust height perches being inverted in all but It looks fine. remindes me of indy car angle shock style
Awesome. Just what i was looking for 💪
Hey Taylor, fellow green c5 owner here. I might wait to get the dr coilovers. One question... did you get Swift springs? Do you recommend them for mostly street driven vehicle?
You should probably throw in that this is what a shock dyno graph would look like
I love the edit on the removal lol. I have a GTO and there's only 2 BC coilovers for my car. In your opinion do you think the Swift Spring upgrade is worth it? I have the regular br coils right now.
put a good flexible lip kit on the car to make it appear lower while keeping function of the shocks
I like bc coilovers i have converted my 2006 e55 amg fom airmatic system. I went with 18 front and 16 rears on springs
Does 2nd gear have a problem or do you just like to skip it?
Jake Johnson GM cars like camaro and corvette come with a "skip shift" from the factory. under certain conditions it makes you skip a gear or two.
roberto molina I figured that might be the case. my friends 11 5.0 would skip 1st to 4th if you didn't Accel. hard enough I just didn't know if c5s came with that feature
it's very easy to get rid of, either buy a plug in for the trans or get it tuned out
Wesley Green Yea the 5.0 has a ots tune and it got rid of it but he starts off in 2nd anyway so it never affected him much.
@3:15 Mr. Engineering explained jr. Haha
You need a setup like the Whorevette that Tyler owns!
Hey Taylor enjoy the vids a lot
You should become a teacher. That graph was 10/10.
car look dope a/f! good luck bro
ride height looks really niceeeee
Cool thanks for the could over explanation
Needs long tubes and a off-road x pipe
Thanks for the shock explanation. Is it just different valves in the shock that change the linear curve to a digressive one?
Nice set up Can we get exact measurements. How far is the front rear sitting. Can you measure the bottom of the fender to the ground. I’m at Front 26.25 (tire 275/35/18) Rear 26.75
(tire 285/35/19). Thanks
Does Marco work for BC, If so how long? I guess I've just been living under a rock
do more videos about what you do at BC
I've asked you before but here it is again. Why not buy the 60 dollar plug that gets rid of the 2nd-3rd skip shift?
Kinda like those wheels now they suit the vet
Taylor I love VSKF wheels but tbh, im sorry but I don't think they suit the Vet...I think mesh style like VSXX or Rezax would suit it better
Wann see the corvette with a sick wing and looking mad asf
awesome video! thanks for the education.
Why would the suspension lose travel if you lower it if the BC R. coilover setup is shock-height adjustable? Makes sense if you lower the spring - but not the body itself.
Looks awesome ✌🏼️
