I loves Travis's style but thru all the drummer changes, they ended up with Alex Bent and dudes amazing.
Alex bent is a god among men
Beyond Amazing \m/
PeRuN the Riffmeister Agreed! And he makes it look so simple and effortless which kicks even more ass!
Agreed
Everyone thinks Alex is very technical, no, he just has fitness, that doesn't make her a good drummer.
3 drummers later...
The point most people miss, is that even if travis is a better drummer, there was a lot of shit going down behind the scenes that us as fans dont see. Matt even said in this video "if that line up continued, the band wouldn't be around anymore". Its not always about the talent, its about how well you work together.
I thought this was about Alex Bent, that dude is the best they’ve ever had
I love how the bleeped out "shit" yet you can still hear Corey say it clearly.
Corey speaks for 15 minutes and says almost nothing.
For the most part it looks like Matt is wearing a Artisan T-Shirt :P
FINALLY, this is the first time in any talking about Nick, that I have heard Matt or anyone acknowledge the fact that Nick was Travis's tech. I was in the front row at Mayhem 2009 and I absolutely remember Nick's face from when he was setting up Travis's rig. Glad to finally hear that I'm not crazy.
I am still on the fence about a lot of In Waves's sound, but I will say Nick is absolutely one of the shining elements of the album. He is a killer fucking drummer.
Travis smith was a damn fine drummer though....
"The chemistry wasn't there."
HAVE YOU NOT HEARD YOUR FIRST FOUR ALBUMS?
Obviously they were in great shape back then but later on things could change. Happens with many bands
You don’t know what happens behind the curtains
The ultimate story of an underdog. The rock star takes a day off and his drum tech steals his job haha! Travis was still the best tho. Great drums parts and fast feat
Man.. What a throwback! They did what they had to do, and I'm sure it worked toward the best for everyone. But I will say that Smith did really define the "Trivium sound" during the band's younger days. That driving 4th note snare with 16th note bass drum pattern wasn't anything new, but man, he sure made it work. Like "Rain" just a perfect way to slap a new album in the listeners' faces.
Corey: "...just like..."
I come from the future and please do not fire Alex Bent!!!
Thank you, Nick Augusto!!!
I guess I'm glad they got rid of Travis so Trivium is around, but they sounded sooo much better when they had Travis...
Alex fixed that problem
From the future, Alex saves the day.
@@blazekilla5553Alex and Travis are my favorite drummers they have had
As Travis left the band, so did their thrash influence. And that's what made Trivium so amazing. With Nick coming from a death metal background I thought he would influence the band to that route, but instead he sent the band backwards by going full metalcore. If Trivium kept their thrash influence, they would be a better band today.
+Tan4056 That's exactly what I was thinking today after listening to Shogun again. Travis was their best drummer and it all went downhill after he left.
@@havoc2431 what about now
Travis is one of my favorite drummers, I felt like he really grew into a great drummer as time went on, and then once he hit his peak he left. I found it to be really disappointing.
why the fuck did he leave. I feel when he left the band. trivium started sucking. I like in waves but I hate it. same as the next album it's horrible
Austin Voegtli I agree. I feel like as a founding member Travis had a decent amount of control over the band and once he left they went in an entirely new direction. When I was 11 or 12 the crusade was their newest album, and I was such a big fan, I remember buying shogun the day it came out to complete my Trivium discography. To me In waves was meh, I didn't even own it until my friend got it for me for christmas 2 years ago, and vengeance falls/silence in the snow don't even sound like Trivium albums.
+zevvay I agree that a Silence in the Snow doesn't sound like Trivium, but it's pretty badass.
5 drummers later now🙄
For me Travis was the best drummer in Trivium. Why? 'Cause with him the band recorded the first 4 albums (their best). Alex maybe is super fast and technical but without Travis the band weren't the same.
if they had alex those first 4 albums… there would be so much more capable
I just realized that the album is called In Waves
I'd like to hear Andols Herrick drum for Trivium.
Its sad that Travis had to go, but Nick is just as good if not better. and its true, drummers dont need to go all crazy and just bang on every damn thing.
Trivium should be fucking ashamed of themselves, firing the drummer who they said that 'saved' the band when travis left, then fire him for what? Just because the chemistry may have been frayed over a period of time they fired nick to run away from a problem, nick saved that band and how did they repay him? Fucking disgraceful thing to do. Nick was the best drummer for them in their later albums, this mat madiro sucks and looks like he belongs in 1D. he doesnt have any passion behind that kit, nick had that fire in him that people loved and now you can see the lack of it in live performances. Any haters on nick, shut the fuck up, if you look at his live Chapman studios stuff with trivium you will see his passion and how well he fitted in. Best of lucl nick, i will follow you in your new band.
Oh I'm sorry, do you know ALL the ins and outs of how Trivium have progressed? I don't and I'd be baffled if you do. Nick is an amazing drummer, I won't hate on the guy because he is simply immense at what he does. But where do you get off bitching about it so much when even Nick himself didn't go berserk about it?
Um, u haven't answered Graeme's question yet dude..... We're waiting...
It's a darn good thing that this new drummer left after SitS.
I saw your videos so I would expect a more elaborate opinion from someone who plays the drums.
But it seems your "love" for Nick clouds your judgement. The true test is to play live. And from what I have seen, Nick sucks live.
Sorry if we "hate" Nick, but after Travis Smith and the pinnacle called Shogun, Nick Augusto was a total low for this band.
I remember it well, I think it was the Shogun documentary, when Travis said - "I want to come up with parts that will be catchy, that'll make you want to move your feet and tap to the rhythm with your hands", or something like that. And you know what? He fucking nailed it. Ember to Inferno, The Crusade, Shogun, and especially Ascendancy all had such catchy drumming, it was just sooo sweet. Like, I have to idea how to play drums, but hearing Travis' play just makes me wanna smash everything while I pretend like I'm playing.
Who cared about nick or travis ? They have alex now and he a freaking beast!!
Don't be so rubbish. All of the drummer Trivium had were good drummers. For me, Travis was the best drummer they has. Ascendancy, Crusade and Shogun are the proofs of this. Even In Waves with Nick. I don't care if now they hired a super fast drummer. It's what you've been doing what you are
@@thedarkenzo Ahaha. Alex Bent is LEAGUES above Travis.
This band has grown and matured quite a bit; and they take their craft seriously! They are now at the same age as Metallica was during the... And Justice For All era; and like Metallica, they have to adjust to a new group member (Jason Newsted for Metallica at the time; albeit different circumstance). If the new album is a reflection of this stage in their career, it should be a great album. Just like "Justice" was a great album for Metallica in that stage of their career.
travis is WAAAAY better than nick will ever be. and thats the truth.
Nah, each one has it's own style and Nick is a beast too
no your wrong ! and there idiots for getting rid of nick go watch there wacken 2013 performance nick was beast!
Umm are you high?? He was shit that show he couldnt keep time worth a fuck. His fills are stale and hes too stiff hos movements arent fluid at all. Call it musicians intuition.
nick is a death metal drummer at the base, so no
What about now?
In every band there is always "That Guy" which usually is rarely drummers. But Travis was probably that guy and sometimes you gotta choose career over friends.
Trav wasn't a stand-up guy and a lot of things were wrong with him but that doesn't mean that they were wrong in letting him go. And good thing they did because In Waves is the SHIT!
Matt looks like the big lips character from monsters inc.💀💀😭
Corey looks like a younger corpsegrinder from cannibal corpse xD
Lol indeed
@XBodom I always thought the same thing about Alex Lopez from Suicide Silence, unlike other extreme metal drummers, he just takes the time and rhythm on what he's doing than hammer out blast beats throughout the entire song.
Where can i get that Artisan News t-shirt Matt is wearing?
How many times did corey say just?
Lmao
I still think ascendancy was their best album.
If you watch the documentary on the making of Shogun you can definitely see that Matt and Travis butted heads quite often. They were polar opposites and they rubbed each other the wrong way. And Matt is much more important to the band than Travis so I'm glad they got rid of him.
I liked Travis style better, and honestly In Waves is a bit weak compared to their toher albums. I mean from ETI to Shogun ALL of the songs kick ass, but on in waves there are songs that I haven't listen to more than twice, I hope their next record will be much better.
September release date!? what happened to the release date being August 9!?
What exact date is In Waves released.
what corey said at 2:43 is true alot of drummers these days are just trying to go as crazy as they can on every song and outdo other drummers to where the drumming just sounds like noise and not rhythm at all sometimes just need a cool beat going with the songs
Damn ... amd i tot matt was wearing a artisan news tshirt
Trivium seems like there never happy with there drummers nick was best thing that happened to them ! hes was getting really great with them too! go watch there wacken 2013 performance nick was beast! that day!
the awkward moment when the both comment are the same :/
Does anyone know where I can get a necklace like Corey's? The one I bought was shitty. Cool, but cheap.
@XBodom That's really sad that you say that because that's how most of the bands are these days (upcoming bands). Most the new bands these days are just fast riffs, crazy fast drums, etc.
What’s the song in the beginning
Wow, it happened again.
@XBodom True, and Nick is a fucking beast, he plays so effortlessly and he just wants to play and make fantastic music, i mean what he plays is outdoing other drummers but that's just him naturally!
Corey Beaulieu wears As I Lay Dying t-shirt! That's cool.
The only real reason I was too disappointed that Travis left is because my name is Travis Smith. Nick is great though
@butterknucklez might have been some improv, seeing as it was from mayhem a couple of years ago i think
@AdzyyManiac By personal issues, I think they meant he had problems with the rest of the group... They've made it quite obvious why he left... definitely a disagreement in the band or something.
Travis made 4 utube accounts and disliked it from all 4 of em
matt face 0:36 hahaha ( pause the video)
it wouldn't make sense cause it says 7 months ago and the other says 8 months ago...
What actually happened? Anyone know ?
@XBodom ya thats probably why john bodham was so amazing
@TehKrakerzGuy hell yea especially on the new album
it seems they kinda strayed away from all the blasts
It might be beneficial if they hired a more experienced or better known drummer of an other band, cause I dont see any improvement of the band (except matts voice) since the change with augusto and madiro.
@THEMAN62084 It's gonna be released on August 9. ArtisanNewService said it wrong
can someone count how many times Corey says "like"
@TheTylerGeissler yeah man nothing wrong with some crazy drumming but when you do it every fucking song it just gets repetitive and boring, theres nothing wrong with slowing it down getting a good groove
@nejikid True and nick is a good drummer and the new album is gonna be great....I was comparing nick with from his old bands MARUTA and INFERNEAON
Travis Smith disliked this.
I think its a bit harsh that they saying if Travis stayed this band wouldn't be toghether, Travis was the founding member weren't he? So it sounds like they're thankful he had personal issues to sort out so they could get a new drummer... what if Travis was still there, and what would they say then....
So whats Travis doing now?? New band?
lmmfao I didnt expect the bleep xD
How ironic, the two top comment are the same saying that the two top comments are the same.
the awkward moment when both top comments are the same ...
@drjakim it's when all light dies..
lol it looks like hes wearing an artisan news shirt
lol,so in the past if anyone ask you your name, you can say you have the same name as the drummer of Trivium?
2:01 killer EXODUS t shirt
Guys, Y U no change top comments??
@XBodom Thats true, I found that compared to Nick, Travis' style was more original, more Trivium.. Of course it would be, he's been their drummer from the start.. But Nick sounds kinda generic, hardcore drumming.. Not much groove. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.. Trivium are still my favourite band though..oh yea
@davecoreproductions man, nick is doin' that .. almost all the songs he play in every part double bass.. and that it's not so good sometimes.
Dumbasses for getting rid of nick wtf guys! Go watch his wacken 2013 performance he killed it!
haha I have the same As I Lay Dying shirt as Corey
I agree.
00:21 looks JUST like Kirk Hammett
@hydronut1 bull shit... corey is a metalhead and has great taste in music and knows everything... Matt, is the light of trivium, and i think he is amazing, especially because of how young he is... they have gotten better anyways... shogun was a masterpiece, great everything that ranges all over the metal scene... paolo came up with some alright stuff.. but he has some skill.. travis was lazy... recording.. and live, he was slowing shit down all the time.. nick, death metal fan, always a plus
I miss Nick...
@TobyNorman777 I commented a week ago and their is still only one.
BugsBunnyRecords should be made!
@Atolocus35 About 24 i think :)
@KHfan4ever23 Seen them 6 six times....3 with travis..3 with nick...live travis was flawless....nick couldnt keep time....he is very good dont get me wrong but when the new album comes out compare the musicianship with shogun crusade Ascendancy AND ember......with that said the new album is going to awesome!
yes, i am a boy but DAMN MATTS HOT!
@NJdarkstar amen to that 100%
the two top comments are the same shit
wow matt heafy looks like a pale tiger woods lol
a good drummer is hard to find...
If you want to be taken seriously as a metal band, don't try to look like a hipster.
same comments on the top comments, i'm in hell
I heard stories that Travis Smith can barely play his material and used a lot of production magic to make it work.
@TriviumBeGod august 9th
His hair...
Maybe Travis didn't have the same creative mindset as the band probably didn't like the style of the band.
AND THEN YOU GOT RID OF HIM! FOOLS!
Why the fuck would he do that?
Top Comments are the same O.o
