    Some of you may ask if this is a reupload of my older "Obi-Wan Kenobi... Why It's Great" video (I got similar questions about my siege of mandalore video). No it is not. However, when rewriting this video I found myself not having changed my mind about much since I made the previous video. So I did reuse a lot of points that I made. I find it unnecessary to reword my arguments that I felt were already strong a year ago. So if certain praises or criticisms sound familiar, that is probably why. But for those of you who find this video too similar to my original one, I did add a 22 minute rewrite section so that's something new you can enjoy. Thank you! #UniteTheKlaudSquad

      Solid rewrite but I think you misunderstood that it was never the story's goal to make US believe obi wan was at fault, its what he personally believed and you changing that also takes away from a new hope given that he Still see Vader as his student he failed, the only other people that blame obi wan are Owen (because that's probably what Obi wan told him) and Anakin because he was manipulated into holding on to his hate and the mistakes obi wan made, other than that solid rewrite

      I wholeheartedly disagree… while I understand your point… I think it ultimately would’ve been an extremely lacklustre end that led to nothing. Her story showing that despite everything she went through, everything she lost and worked so hard to achieve to get her revenge on the person who took it all from her, she still could not fully give herself to the hatred and kill an innocent child, because she knew she was that one decision away from becoming exactly like Vader. It showed yet again.. that no matter what we go through.. we can always choose to change and not let our suffering define us. She now has a future in this universe and I’m excited to see where she pops up next.

      @@captainfilip7188 Your argument doesn't work though when she's essentially a mindless evil creature. Cutting peoples hands off as a form of interrogation, for example, and stabbing another inquisitor to get what she wants. And before you try to tell me Vader is those things, he isn't. He hunted and killed Jedi, but there's a reason as to why. When he interrogates Leia, she is not harmed. Neither is Han during his torture on Bespin. Sure, he's not well, but it's not really clear what happens to him. Vader is willing to sacrifice Han's life in the carbon freeze chamber, but doesn't put his life in direct harm, only chancing it. There's zero reason for Reva to even have been in this story. Thats the problem with this show, it doesn't focus on the right things and breaks what we already understand about the Star Wars universe. He'd choke people to intimidate everyone else in the room. Or kill incompetent commanders to make sure someone else does the job better. It was almost always calculated, and when it wasn't, his violence came as a result of temper, but that requires the victim to piss him off first. It made him dangerous because you knew that he is in control of his actions, and utterly ruthless in his pursuit of the Rebelion. Here, he just kills random innocents, because..... reasons?? And it honestly degrades his character, making him just another bad guy who just kills people because he's bad and evil and no good and very bad.

    While watching the last episode, I remember watching Vader’s last scene, and it felt slightly off to me so I started thinking what it was. I realized it was a very simple thing - Vader sitting when talking to the Emperor. I haven’t read all of the books and comics, but in the movies we have always seen Vader kneel in front of Palpatine. So here, I feel like this simple change would be perfect thematically. In that scene we are in Vaders Mustafar Castle, a place where he complete dominion, and control over the Inquisitors but when The Emperor calls, he has to get up from his throne and kneel next to it. His power here is an illusion, he has no authority, he only serves Palpatine…

    Well, it is definitely refreshing to hear someone actually praise this series. Personally, I can't stand it, but I really enjoy that you acknowledge the glaring missteps, and I feel happy for you that you can enjoy the series for what it is.
    For me, eventhough I like the way they handled Obi-Wans and Vaders main arcs, there is just such a vast amount of inconsistencies to how they and others are portrayed in existing media, that I sometimes actually laughed out while watching a serious scene. In my head, and supported by his march into town - my favorite scene from the series, Vader in episode 3 is pure hatred. It is like you were in pain for weeks or months, and finally you found the cause. I loved how he just kills random people in the street, thinking that it would bring the Jedi Obi-Wan out of hiding to protect the common folk, and that it likely would have worked if Obi-Wan himself wasnt that deep down in his depression. I like how he absolutely mauls Obi-Wan every chance he gets, although the shot composition in their duel scenes is awful, and Vader jump scares, with him walking on metal feet and breathing loud af just feel out of place. But what you pointed out as a minor break of character for me felt like a slap in the face. We see Vader maul and mutilate Obi-Wan for like half an hour, dragging him through fire he himself lit. But when someone else lights that same fire, he just stands there and watches the source of all his pain, anger and suffering walk away. In that moment I was honestly waiting for a "waking up from meditation" sequence, because I could not believe that anyone would shoot something like this.
    Even worse tho, is how they handled the finale of the final fight. I didnt mind the new earth-bendy force powers as much as others. They felt a little out of place, but it didn't ruin the scene for me. I thought the lighting and cinematography was atrocious, but thats not what I want to discuss. Why on earth would Obi-Wan leave Darth Vader alive after besting him in combat? I loved the dialogue in the scene and it made me emotional seeing ewan react to Obiwan freeing himself from most of the guilt that had plagued him. But in that moment, Obi-Wan should not be conflicted about killing Darth Vader. This obiwan should be close to the same obi-wan that said "I will do what I must", even when that same Darth Vader still looked and acted like his friend, apprentice and brother. Why, god why couldnt they write a scene where Obi-Wan after learning that Anakin is forever lost tries to finish off vader, but is stopped by force of nature, by vader and his dark side powers in the end, or by the rest of the imperial forces, who wouldnt just watch their leader get killed... Like this, Obi-Wan frees himself of the guilt of having caused Anakins transition into darth vader, but he takes on the guilt of not having stopped the uncountable dark deeds that vader would do after that moment. It feels so out of place, and in such a pivotal moment in the series, that I for one can't bring myself to rewatch it.
    However, I would love to hear other's personal head canon as to why Obi-Wan did what he did. Maybe it helps me come to terms with how it is, maybe it reaffirms my beliefs. But I would love to talk with anyone about it here :)

    There’s a ton of character potential already in Obi-Wan learning of the Lars family (skipped out on in Ep3, he just shows up and drops off a baby without saying a word), not to mention adapting to life on Tatooine - especially facing the Tusken Raiders, who mistake him for the rumored sorcerer who murdered an entire tribe years prior, so Obi-Wan has to reckon witb Anakin’s actions. It would explain how Obi-Wan knows how to scare Tuskens away from Luke, too.
    Also, re: budget; this show had a rumored $25 million PER EPISODE.

    I honestly hate this show, however the person who edited down into a film (Kai Patterson) actually made it watchable. I feel as though if Darth Vader and Obi Wan didn’t fight each other but saw each other a single time at the end of the show it would have been a more powerful and heart wrenching moment. I also think bringing Leia in was a mistake. Imagine if instead of bringing Leia in they instead followed through with their original idea of Obi Wan and Commander Cody reuniting and hunting Darth Maul and his crime syndicate. They would’ve been able to make a more mature show and a more thought provoking one, but Disney has to pander towards their desired audience of children. They forget that the vast majority of their audience is over 20 now, and we desperately need a Star Wars show that takes itself seriously (like Andor but with light sabers). Again the film cut is superior, because of it I will never rewatch the series. I just wish they made a series good enough for a rewatch.

      The one thing that would need to change. Perhaps when Kenobi asks Tala to take Leia to the transport so he can confront Vader and see if he’s Anakin, it is here where Leia slips Lola in Ben’s cloak. Then when Reva questions Obiwan in Inquisitorious, she finds the droid in his cloak and puts a tracker on it.
      Of course, do we need Kenobi to have Lola on the moon when he confronts Vader? We just won’t have Leia more excited to see Lola than Ben when he visits them in the end.

    I can totally see where you're coming from in this video, and I don't think I've ever heard a perspective quite like this before, so I want to first say that I really do appreciate hearing your take on this show. For me, I think there are so many things that just don't make sense from a plot perspective. Obi-wan should never have left Luke and Tatooine in general, Leia should've never been involved in this story and shouldn't have met Obi-Wan, if this show is set 10 years after ROTS, Obi-Wan should know that Darth Vader is alive, or am I to believe that for 10 years Vader's name never reached Tatooine until Reva tells Obi-Wan that he's alive???, and that Vader just sat there doing nothing until this particular point in time??? Something's a bit off there. Vader knows who Reva is, and that she knows that he is Anakin Skywalker, but he just lets her live...Huh??? Even if Vader is having an emotional struggle, and inner turmoil, he's also still the angry, hateful, vengeful, murdering Sith Lord that will not hesitate to kill anyone who knew he was Anakin.
    Obi-Wan has to rush back over to Tatooine to save Luke and his family from being potentially killed by Reva, when the truth of the matter is, he should've never left Tatooine in the first place, and Leia shouldn't have been in this story. Why is Obi-Wan NOW able to lift all of these big rocks and throw them at Vader, when in the OT, he never displayed such strength in the force before. Obi-Wan was not naturally gifted with the force, and had to train really hard to get to where he was in ROTS. I mean, to be able to just do a powerful force push on general Grievous, was hard for him, but he trained hard and achieved that, but now all of a sudden, he can lift these huge rocks with relative ease??? I'm not even going to go there with Reva. Also, Qui-gon never finished his training with the wills, so how is he appearing as a force ghost to Obi-Wan...Though I will admit, it was good to see Liam Neeson reprise his roll as Qui-gon Jin.
    I could go on and on but you get what I mean. The story of a Jedi who failed his apprentice, being depressed, having nightmares of his failures, and losing his connection with the force, only then to go on a journey to find himself again and be the protecter and leader that he once was, is good, but it was poorly executed, in my opinion. I'm just not sold on how this show makes any sense from a plot standpoint.

    • @samkornrumph8545
      @samkornrumph8545 Год назад +3

      Agreed. I don’t think Obi-Wan needed to leave Tattoine in order to find himself. And the whole cutting himself off from the force was dumb and completely out of character. I’m fine with him being depressed and trying to work through his trauma, but 10 years?! Really?!
      Obi-Wan isn’t one to sulk and give up. Maybe having the show set 1 or 2 years after ROTS would have made more sense, especially with him finding out that Darth Vader survived. Maybe instead of a duel between Kenobi and Vader just show flash backs to sparring sessions and missions that the 2 of them went on or missions with Qui Gon.

    • @moonlight_antonio
      @moonlight_antonio Год назад +2

      @@samkornrumph8545 I agree, cutting himself off from the force after master Yoda had told him to communicate with Qui Gon from the nether realm of the force, was stupid. How can you do that if you cut yourself off from the force?! I think if they had done the flashbacks more instead of Obi-Wan and Vader fighting, it would've made for a more interesting story that focuses on Obi-Wan's path to excepting what happened in order 66 and his failure with Anakin. I think it would've definitely fleshed out the continued story of Obi-Wan so much better.

    • @samkornrumph8545
      @samkornrumph8545 Год назад +1

      @@moonlight_antonio It’s kinda funny when you think about it.
      Disney makes TLJ, then receives massive backlash from the fans and Mark Hamill on the treatment of Luke Skywalker cutting himself off from the force, sulking by himself, and considering murdering his nephew in his sleep. Then Disney decides to make a series about Obi-wan during his exile. So they think “How can we make a show the fans will enjoy? I got it! Let’s do the same thing that we did with Luke in TLJ that half the fans hated and divided the fandom, but let’s not make him an attempted murderer.” Wow can’t imagine why people don’t like the show.

    I don't understand how people think the Obi Wan series is good. The direction of the series is horrible, the Obi Wan vs Vader scene in episode 3 is ridiculous, Obi Wan hides in an empty plain and Vader simply disappears and appears elsewhere. Reva has childish motivations and survived 2 saber blows to the stomach (one when she was a child in a temple full of soldiers!). Leia's pursuit is poorly done. Leia can resist an INQUISITOR. Obi Wan leaves the imperial fortress with Leia under his coat and NOBODY sees the 4 legs. The Grand Inquisitor has bad makeup (the 5th brother too) and "dies" in a place with NO ONE to rescue him, but he survives and then appears again. The flashback with Anakin has no function, it's just a "normal" training...Luke runs into a DESERT but out of nowhere some rocks appear for him to hide from Reva who was walking with a hole in her stomach (how she arrived in TATOOINE?)

    I think the problem with this series was Reva.
    The twist in the 5th episode could’ve been really cool if things were done a bit differently.
    She cuts off innocent people’s hands and hangs young Jedi in the town square to gain rank to get revenge on Vader for doing something that she is actually doing herself.
    Just poison his bathtub or something. From the inside, I’m sure there’s a better way to try to kill Vader that doesn’t involve killing her former classmates.

      Damn, I think you are one of the first people to love the cinematography. Personally I thought that most of the fight scenes were way too dark, and many scenes were not established well. Gold man said there were too few wide shots, but then for that awful scene at the gate, they could have at least made the shots tight enough so you dont see how easy it would have been to just walk around it :)
      Still, happy for you that you found the cinematography beautiful, and there were some stunning shots in there for sure!

    19:58 The character development from Obiwan being crushed by the rocks was not on based in his passion to save Leia directly but rather obiwan forgiving himself for what happened to Anakin. If you recall the show before he thinks of Liea, you hear audio of a Anakins gradual fall to the darks side. This is why obiwan fails the first attempt of escaping the boulders above him. But like quigon, he meditates deeper to what truly matters and recalls his true purpose, to protect anakins children. This connects him to the force and in turn, allows him to lift the boulders that had him trapped.

    Personally, I would have Reva not try to kill Vader at the end of Episode 5 - instead, she knew about Luke already and her plan was always to get revenge by killing Vader's son. [This would also get rid of the Bail Organa plot hole]
