  • In this video I made a crazy piece on the lathe! Try to guess what I'm going to use this piece for. I was inspired by several craftsman, which sold their products on Marketplaces.
    I hope you like it! If you have any questions on the used tools, materials or the processes, write it in the comment section - I will try to answer as soon as possible!

    I made two of these in tech college. Someone asked if we could machine them. The instructor handed me the materials and a crappy print, and I did it. Mine were 4in Dia and 10in long (100mm x 250mm). I used an Acme thread, but I no longer remember the pitch. The customer was super happy with them.

    Consider using a negative lead for roughing to improve tool life and take heavy consistent cuts

    I remember seeing a device like this, which bolted onto a vehicle in place of a wheel, advertised in the 1970s. Split wood really easily but always looked a bit dangerous.

    I did suspected it would be for wood splitting when I first saw it. I can't find info on FT-11 lathe. You seem to have some sort of CNC type control with auto feeds. Is that somthing you've added? Can you provide some wider views of the lathe? And finally what is the machine you show in the center of your home page picture? Thank you for some very entertaining videos. Good work.👍👍⚙🏆👏🇨🇾🇺🇸

      I suspect he was hand feeding the cross slide for the threading process hence the reason for the inverted tool and reversed spindle. Any errors in hand feed rate would be less catastrophic and correctable as the tool would be moving away from the taper rather than into the material.

    Como haces para el movimiento simultaneo del carro longitudinal y del transversal.
    Imagino que el longitudinal va en automatico para hacer la rosca y el transversal lo haces con mucha habilidad por cierto, tu de forma manual.
    Y una pregunta mas :
    La rosca es a izquuerdas me parece. Y pregunto porque la haces a izquierdas.
    Felicidades y gracias por el video.

    • @LatheLegends
      @LatheLegends  6 месяцев назад +1

      ¡Hola! Gracias por su pregunta. El avance longitudinal se realiza mediante el tornillo de desplazamiento y el avance transversal se realiza manualmente. La rosca o roscas son a derechas porque el portabrocas gira en sentido contrario y la fresa se desplaza de izquierda a derecha.

    • @ACHaceASMR
      @ACHaceASMR 6 месяцев назад

      El movimiento transversal se hace por medio de un dispositivo que se llamardo "charriot" que sirve para hacer conos, es todo manual, vos lo moves y le das los grados de inclinación que quieras

      He observado que para el roscado la cuchilla está colocada con la parte cortante hacia abajo porque el torno está girando al contrario. Eso no me había dado cuenta antes. Gran habilidad la suya amigo para hacer ese roscado cónico. Gracias por el vídeo excelente.

    This is a bit similar to a part that many old spring-powered clocks have, called the fusee, which is a sort of continuously variable transmission to output a constant torque as the spring winds down. The spiral has a gear at the bottom and a chain or cable goes around the spiral grooves with the mainspring pulling on it, so as the chain unwinds the spiral means the gear ratio changes. See for example: ruclips.net/video/hsBFq471VLg/видео.html
