  • The good folks at LaserPecker sent me their LaserPecker2 package to see if it would work for engraving bowls and other turnings. Does it EVER! It not only works very well, it's totally fun and makes the creative juices flow! I'm afraid most of my time from here on out will be spent engraving my name everywhere I go!
I did not receive payment for this demonstration and there was no input from anyone but myself.

Well, Phil, that is some cool tool you have there! ..Or, should I say, "toy"? It does look really useful! I'll put it at the back of my mind, till the need is urgent, and the funds are ready. In the meantime, I will keep my eye out for what's available, locally. Cool stuff, Phil! Thanks!

Phil, you crack me up. I'm watchin' you and keepin' up my side of the conversation as per usual. You mentioned metric stuff and said you weren't taught that; I agreed. Then you were reading and explaining about the distance vs the machine... and I was tryin' to follow you...and I wanted to help, but you didn't want it....oy....and ...then...you...said...
'don't laugh at me' ...and that's where I started laughing....and kept laughing....I wasn't even thinking about laughing until you said that I swear to Pete.
Well Phil I don't know if anybody else did but you and I had fun. Yeah I'd like to see you using that on something on the lathe that'll be great. That picture of your daughter and her husband that really came out great.
Good to see you havin fun. 😁
    Peace,
    Kevin

WOW!!!!! Phil, I'm also an inch guy and it's because I am a proud American. I fess up that I do have my set of metric tools so I can work on everything that's made in other than the US these days. I saved my coffee table and two end tables, and all three pieces look great now. Be careful with the modern technology Phil, soon there will be a machine that you throw a hunk of wood under the device, and it lathes and turns whatever you can dream up. Then what good are we then, as we become old and, in the way, replaced by a machine. About the only thing that is saving us now is the fact that we are so dang good looking.

Aille aille aille !
Patrick

Wow. For a "mature dog" you sure learned a bunch of new tricks, pretty fast. I am impressed. How fun!!. I still struggle with the metric system, that they tried to teach me back in probably 1965. It just doesn't stick, can't envision it. Distance, temperature, weights and measures-- forget about it. That's what happens when it needs to be adopted by the entire country and everybody just resists and ignores it. I even made and effort to learn, and, NOPE.

    Hi Phil,
Who said you can't t each an old dog new tricks! LOL
I'm a tad older then you and never was taught the metric system either. I had to learn it in work cuz we made machines for customers worldwide but I still don't like using it.
I bought a laser engraver about 2 months ago and (like you) have been engraving everything that aint nailed down! LOL
Wood, ceramic tiles, glass, slate, leather, cardboard and probably more things I can't remember right now!
Mine has software that's more difficult to learn then yours is but hey,,,,why not at least try to learn it? I get lost with different types of files,,,raster, vector And other words I didn't know existed before! LOL One thing I do have over you though,,,,my software converts metric to inches with one single click! LOL
Glad to see that your still pushing your brain to the limit,,,I know I do! LOL
    Thanks for the video,,,
    Tom

What a fun little machine. I always liked when folks used a woodburning style branding stamp, great effect, but it also always seemed a little lopsided when done. This is a similar effect but done neatly.

Oooh lotsa playing ahead. A small logo allows you to still also sign. Thanks for sharing. Hugs

Yes, yes you do, Doreen! All of a sudden, everything looks like it needs your name on it! LOL! You can even run it off a battery that they have. Take it to the park, autograph the benches! Hahaha!

Great video Phil. Super cool engraving and no dust or shavings to clean up.

Hi Phil. Good to see you keeping busy and learning something new-always a good thing. That sure is a neat engraver would have many uses in the shop for sure! Only limited by your imagination. Thanks for the interesting demo. See you in the next one no matter the content, it’s always very informative. Take care and stay well.
