It's gorgeous! I'm very happy that you were able to figure a way to mount this one, Phil. I've stared at it for several years and couldn't figure that out. So, sending it your way was absolutely the right decision. An incredibly beautiful bowl! Very well turned/unturned! 👍
Wow Phil you are right. This is one beautiful and unique bowl. I would say it is right on the top of the list for my favorite. For sure the rounded areas fit right in there with all the nature. Smarties might look good in it but they look pretty darn good in a a paper picnic bowl...just ask Gord LOL You have a right to be proud of this one my friend! Take care, Gary
LOL! I have a great battery-op small chainsaw and permission to take whatever I want from the mixed hardwood and berry briar woods down the lane from the house. It's all going to be developed eventually, so the owner doesn't care. Apple, pear, cherry, wild plum, alder, oak, hawthorn, ash, more ash, and yet more..... Yeah, some gnarly stuff. Good job I know how to use the saw! 😁
I beginning to realize that you are a natural ham. You play to the camera. And don't you dare stop. Your conversation, both to us and to yourself is what keeps us coming back. Giving a part of yourself is what wants us to give back, to know you better, to send you crazy chunks of wood and watch you work your magic on them. You don't make your videos into a classroom where you have a particular skill or knowledge that you are trying to impart. Instead, each video is, if I may borrow the phrase, a magical mystery tour. Another extraordinary bowl, Phil. Keep those chips flying. Best.
I haven't heard that excitement in your voice for sometime now, this piece really got your mojo back, I can see why I love it too, good job Phil, seem to have heard that a few times lately too. Shows you are on the up.
Phil! What a wonderful piece! So many awesome characteristics. I appreciate you so much and look forward to every video! 💪You are one of the greatest turners and keep the true nature in every piece you work on! Be well Phil! 😃
Allways a pleasure to watch how you fall in love with a peace of wood. For other people bark mulch, for us a beautiful gift Mother Nature send us. Thank you for sharing!
You’ve managed to take another seemingly impossible piece of wood and turn it into something that’s absolutely incredible. You truly are the best of the best. Keep on keeping on, Phil 👍🏼
Finding or bothering to find and wash up a root is pretty special so kudos to Calmwood Creations for the dirty work and to Phil for the insight into seeing the bowl that emerged. Nice work boys.
With all the bad news going on in the world, it's nice to end the week on a good note with the simplicity and beauty of another bowl crafted by Phil. I think I enjoy your "let's try it and see" approach and decisions you make while turning, as well as your pleasure in pointing out the natural features of the piece at the end of your videos the most. Thank you, Phil. Nicely done!
Phil, that bowl is special for more than one reason. It is beautiful! Your decision-making monologue is especially entertaining. And, I didn't expect to see the Thursday video from one of my top two favorite RUclips woodturners! It was a special surprise. Take care of YOU! We'll be here if you need to take some time off. Absence make the heart grow fonder, right?
Don't I just know it, Wayne! I have the best, most generous viewers I have ever heard of! They make this channel special not just for me but for all the viewers as well. So much variety! 😃
Once again a masterpiece. Great to see you in the shop Phil. Sound strong in spirit. Great job Dave for sending the piece. Thank you for sharing. Keep them coming.👍👍👍🙏
What a beauty! The "handle", as you call it, reminds me of Arches National Park in Utah. One of my and my wife's favorite hiking places. Glad you KEPT the rock where it was. That's the rock of ages. Don't use it for anything. Why hide the beauty. Is the Mona Lisa used as a tray? Great one Phil. Thx A bunch.
Gorgeous, Phil. In my opinion, your very best piece. Bark, cracks, rock and holes form the bundle and you formed the wonderful little bowl, that we were allowed to watch now... Thanks for this
Hi Phil, I hope this finds you well. I am now the proud owner of a router and all the bells, whistles, and ding dongs that go with one. I needed one to better inlay the glass top of our coffee table. And I see that there are plenty of wood projects to do with a router. So, it soon looks like I'll be making sawdust at my homestead like you. doing projects. Safety Rule #1. Make sure the router is unplugged before switching router bits and such. It looks like I better resupply our first aid kit and medicine cabinet. Face Shield and Mask and Bandages On!!!!!
oh that's lovely... I would carry it around with me with that handle... everything about that piece calls to me... once again you hit it out the ball park.
What a transformation! It’s wonderful a person can imagine what it must have been before your professional touch. Just another one of your excellent creations! Barbara
Phil,. This is a wonderful piece. It's just amazing what you do with it. You start with a grunge, dirty old rootball and you come out with a new wonderful piece
Eyup. Wow ! Who would have thought a rhododendron would put up such a fight. Well Phit you kicked its butt and tamed it. Well almost. A beautiful piece as usual Phil. We thank you.
An lovely little art deco bowl for peanuts on the coffee table, I like a lot the beautiful color contrasts. Phil you are a real chisel artist, love to see you work. Greetings Piet
All the turnings are one of a kind, but this stands out from most of the others you've done. Therefore, this is OutStanding in so many ways. A great video watching you reveal the final product.
Magnificent piece, Phil! Wishing you all the best for a full and complete recovery. Take good care of yourself. We'll be right here with you, video or not. 🤗
I would love to use that in a jewelry display to show off faux coral, faux ivory, turquoise, MOP and copper or rose gold pieces. One piece of art complimenting another. Drool.
Hey Phil . I started watching this one on my phone , it looked so good , I had to come in the house and watch on the big screen. One of my favorites . So much in fact that I mite sneak over to my neighbors after dark and dig up their Rhododendron plant/tree. Hope they are sound sleepers so they dont here the backhoe . Wish me luck !!
🤪 I like the way you think, but it's much more neighborly to wait until they go on a Caribbean cruise. That way, you'll have more time to hide the tracks to and from! 😁
You my friend are an inspiration! What a gorgeous bowl. I guess I am more like you than I thought. Leave the Nature In It. So glad to hear your voice and the excitement in it. You are amazing at what you do! Love watching you and hearing your voice. Hoping all is going well. Your friend, Dotty ❤😎🙃
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil my admiration for you increases with every video. How you manage to do so with so much humour going through treatment amazes me. Getting to the Rhododendron root ball what a fantastic piece you managed to bring out of what nature created amazing.
Wow Phil ... you've just proved to us all that flowers are not always the best part of a tree. I have a new respect for the humble rhododendron. Just beautiful 😍
Excellent bit of turning Phil, I think I have said this a few times but this is one of my favourites, so much to see you could look at it for hours. Well done. All the best to you Phil. Regards Jim
