Tbh Gunlance is the only weapon where Divine Blessing Secret makes sense as you lose zero DPS as it is entirely based on artillery secret and focus. You simply put rocksteady mantle and keep shelling and regain hp while face tanking doing 250 dmg each shell. Any other weapon running Divine Blessing 5 is overkill as you lose DPS and/or other useful set bonuses. Divine Blessing 3 is fine for most weapons.
Divine blessing secret has always made sense for better defense, since Gold Rathian armor is extremely efficient. But now moresoe with the release of a new behemoth style boss its going to make even more sense, and the fact that we can farm whetfish scales.
I feel like you can change Divine Blessing for tool specialist With Guard 5 and Guard Up honestly as long as you're careful nothing should really put you in critical state Where as with tool specialist, you can spam rocksteady or fireproof mantle for Teostra or whatever and not have to hop to cure fire or blast, thus more damage

Earplugs also allows for easy WSB placement, and extra damage - especially on those that just yell a lot.

Not to mention Divine Blessing which is completely useless, considering how good and reliable the shield is. Qol skills like earplugs and slinger capacity are much more useful for gunlances.
Evade extender is used to fix the gunlance's low mobility. We max guard and guard up bc we have shield with slow walk speed and long sheathe time. Divine blessing and health boost are the only skills on the set I consider to be increasing my survivability. Evade window can be removed
You already have guard 5 guard up what's the point in evasion window? Evade extender is useful but I think evade window is useless. Fitting speed sharpen and polisher should have been better

Great build but i got some cool gun lance builds, and if it was me i would sacrifice sharpness level 6 for a level 4 slot and slot another charger/medicine jewel for that extra regen instead of relying on the mantle.
This build I have issues with. I don't understand why you build the extra guard and then try for Evasion too. You're 100% better off using either Guard GL or Evasion GL. It's a waste of skill slots Divine blassing secret on GL is very weird too, I don't mind people using Defence but on GL you have the best shield in the game and you have Guard 5 which is extremely confusing. It just doesn't make much sense
I have Earplugs 5, Guard 5, Guard Up, and Evade Extender 3. I have Evade Extender as more of an offensive option than a defensive one. It allows me to reposition and pursue monsters without having to sheathe constantly. It cuts down time on the hunts and makes things go smoother, for me at least.
@@ArmandoPuenteJr yes evade gunlance can be better then guarding because you dont spend a lot of time guarding but instead you can just hop and start attacking again then guarding and waiting a bit to attack again. some situations like many of kulve attacks its better to hop out of the way then guard it like lava and area 3 hop
Long Gunlance does not benefit from anything beyond Artillery, Capacity Up, and Felyne Bombardier. With so many skill slots left, you may as well place in all of the defensive options for comfort and quality of life (and the memes) to maintain or increase the amount of time spent shelling. There's no point in adding WEX, Crit Eye, Agitator, Attack Boost, or anything else since those do not add shelling damage and the long playstyle does not involve poking. There a few attacks that even Guard 5 and Guard up cannot simply shrug off. It may be more prudent to through attacks that cause significant knockback while other times holding guard is more comfortable. It gives more options to keep the shelling pressure up. Normal and Wide shelling styles would see vastly different builds.
@@ohmylawwwd2538 Yes but that's my point, if you're gonna guard switch go Evasion Lance, Guard up and Guard 5 are unnecessary in that case. It's trying to fit in too many things at once. I know Lomg GL has lots of space in it but you can use thar for Resistor or something along those lines. Also Long and Wide GL aren't very different, the only difference is Long needs Focus 3. Both can use Poking Skills and still work just as well, there's just too much going on in this build and it doesn't make much sense.
The reason u run both Evade Extender 3 and a guard 5 is because positioning is very important for GL as you need to shell towards WSB all the time. When you are in a perfect position you'd rather want to block than to dodge and vice versa. For Divine Blessing Secret you simply put rocksteady and keep shelling ignoring whatever dmg the monster does as u can simply heal up. Guarding with rocksteady dosent make sense as you can rather keep shelling and doing dmg at the same time heal yourself.
I have a feeling once more people figure out these "meta" builds are trash, your gana try to pull a fast one and say you were just trolling, but in reality you really are just a megalomaniac who is thrash at what he does
Just search him on Gamefaqs. Always seems to get himself in arguments with players who seem to know more and picks up on info thousands of hours into the game but promotes them as some sorta revelation to new players. Tried to argue with HH main once that HH is more effective in a corner buff playstyle, wtf
I'm waiting for Lv7 long type gunlance because there's Lv7 for normal & wide type gunlance but no Lv7 long type. Bet Capcom already know long type output damage more that's why they too scare to made Lv7 long type.
Imagine thinking this build isn't absolute ass. Fuckin' wild. You're literally building in a way that justifies getting hit. Not guarding in time and getting punished for it is the road to improvement, it's how you become familiar and comfortable with guarding with a tower shield weapon. You've basically created a build that says "it's okay to get hit becasue with Divine Blessing 5 you won't lose anything for it," but not only is that a gamble skill you shouldn't depend on, but every second you spend on the ground after getting smacked in the face because you don't know how to block properly is DPS lost, because Divine Blessing spares you the damage, not the knockdown.
Really interested in starting to use gun Lance. I have used dual blades, and really good with great sword and sword and shield.... but want to try this.
no wonder you thought gl was boring when u use long shelling and yes for long the wyrmstake is a blessing me personally am quite dissapointed by the wyrmstake its basicly just more damage without having a new move its basicly the equivalent to using the clutchclaw softening ... two of the worst things iceborne has added imo (if you find that fun great but not me)
Lance main who's never given much time to gunlance here. Is there any reason you'd use pokes with the gunlance, or are you supposed to shell as much as possible?
On a wide shelling build with melee setup, youd poke, but bc of the wyrmstake blast, you would just continue charged shelling these days, so the answer is no, you rarely poke. Though I heard speedrunners were using slapstick builds vs Kulve, which would make sense bc of her hitzone values.
U missing the point of focus. It’s same as chargeblade and GS. That one extra focus can’t be milliseconds of you either finishing your combo before a roar, a attack, or next attack staggers. Therefore leading to less dps. Let’s say I got focus 2 and I’m about finish a move but monster run away, or roar, or hit me cause I couldn’t block in time. And if I hit that move it could be a stagger or stun and that’s more dps.
"defense in video games is about what happens when you mess up" If you're good, you won't mess up. ESPECIALLY with gunlance because of the shield, just block the attack.
Let me introduce you to my old friend. He's a high rank tempered piscine wyvern that lives in an event quest. The name's Lavasioth. (And he's a lot easier to kill with MR weapons!)
I have a question about the wide sweep combo. I know it may not be optimal damage in all situations but i wanted to know which shelling type is best for it, if any one knows. I usually play hammer but im trying to branch out more so any tips are much appreciated Also, for everyone trashing saying this build sucks, just know that you cant rely on optimal damage all the time. For example, you get flashed by Tzti-Ya-ku during a charge animation while Zinogre is using his crazy combo finisher. You'll be wishing you had divine blessing secret then. And even though the build has some wasted slot space, not everyone has the same decorations so its up to you to chose what goes there depending on what you have. I rest my case, and sorry for writing an essay. nice vid btw
Ur concept is so bad. Tzti flashes you annnnnddddd zinogre do his ult. When the fuck this happen? It haven’t happen to me once. But divine blessing is right for long gunlance. Cause you don’t need affinity or raw attack. So much slots available.
So the only conditions where you need divine blessing 5 is when you decide to lure both Zinogre and Tzitzi at the same time in Guiding Lands? Or when you’re doing that optional quest where you fight 5 monsters in Coral Highlands? Sounds really situational to me. Wouldn’t Zinogre be stunned as well?
Slinger capacity 3 only adds 30 sec of wys duration, wrong investment and waste of slots in my opinion, much better to use offensive guard , really easy to proc and 30% attack is massive if you could fit it in
He'll prolly have safi in most of them just because of the versatility they provide. For most weapons tho im sure raging brachy is stronger in terms of straight dps, aside from outliers that dont rely on raw as much.
@@terramag7056 No, its powerful. I tested it with my sets. Of course not defensive in the normal sense, but nami gamma gives a lot of value for evasive gameplay. Also Drachen is still more efficient than most armour pieces. Go in game and do your research, u'll understand what i mean.
All divine blessing secret all the time. Never build anything else and delete yourselves if you play lance! Now in delete yourselves for playing gunlance version as well.
@@TheGameconomist and you are bad at it, but let's just take that information out because "it's one of my most played weapons" sounds much more credible and intimidating to newer players (new players be like "oh one of most played weapons? he has to know shit" - well seems like walk right into the trap)
At first that is the best option yeah. The more you do a fight the more you can shift your build to more offense. But first time encounter? Definitely better to not die
No, you need to prioritize guard 5, hb 3, art 5 , jump and if you can squeeze in db 5 but not then use 3. You have to build around the needs of the weapon and with the new sets you can most likely make it all happened. The weapons has a shield , this fool doesn't understand stand how to fight monsters with a shield that's why all his videos he is heavy mantle dependant. Personally, I've played GL a lot in IB, especially Long and I NEVER prioritize guard 5 OR divine blessing 5, besides the usual, what I prioritize is Earplugs 5 and it works for me. To me guard 5 is a waste of time in GL since you can't do anything while you guard, better to dodge with evade extender 3, while to monster roars I can dodge out of the way, stick the stake on him or keep shelling. Even though it might have a shield, it's useless to just stand there and block, at least lance has the counter to make use of the shield. Shield should be used in emergencies only, which is why I carry guard up of course
Omg I'm so sorry did I trigger you , how much does game con pay you bro? These builds are all over the place. Learn how use the weapon, how do you play? Do you like to evade , guard or out position? All you saying is well if I get hit db gonna save me. You can still use db 5 but don't get a into a habit on relaying on it full time there will be situation where you can't use it anymore.
madestro nobody is saying you shouldn’t use divine blessing no matter what. Just that you should always prioritise blocking/evading as relying on divine blessing all the time is a crutch. There might be multiple ways to play, but there are always certain playstyles that are superior and make hunting more fun, instead of being staggered because you can’t anticipate attacks.
If anything, a player that can play an offensive build well would easily play a defensive build well, since they already do decent dmg from their playstyle. Players who can’t even play defensive build wouldn’t do any better with offensive builds. Sucks to do little to no dmg on both builds I guess

Never guard up against Namielle one shot killed!
Gotta love when people use easy mo sters that are slow and let you get hits in for their examples. Never Raging Brachydios or Furyous Rajang, etc.
Is it just me or has anyone else notice a lot of people using the gun lance
I have used dual blades, and really good with great sword and sword and shield.... but want to try this.
no wonder you thought gl was boring when u use long shelling and yes for long the wyrmstake is a blessing me personally am quite dissapointed by the wyrmstake its basicly just more damage without having a new move its basicly the equivalent to using the clutchclaw softening ... two of the worst things iceborne has added imo (if you find that fun great but not me)
Looking forward to Alatreon. When will Safi be available again ?
Tonight, I think between 7-10 EST
Lance main who's never given much time to gunlance here. Is there any reason you'd use pokes with the gunlance, or are you supposed to shell as much as possible?
On a wide shelling build with melee setup, youd poke, but bc of the wyrmstake blast, you would just continue charged shelling these days, so the answer is no, you rarely poke. Though I heard speedrunners were using slapstick builds vs Kulve, which would make sense bc of her hitzone values.
Can u show the full buildmon your previous tgc long sword build
wide allows for better builds. the long play style is not the safest. wide kills faster
Focus 3 is wasted, can only get 1-2 extra charged shells a minute over focus 2
I can make that same build but again I'm missing the guard up decoration..😭
Let me introduce you to my old friend. He's a high rank tempered piscine wyvern that lives in an event quest. The name's Lavasioth. (And he's a lot easier to kill with MR weapons!)
@@RyanMichero or greatest jargas
All the builds go down drain. Alatreon gonna wreck these builds.
Gunlance!!!
what layered armour is this? I can't find it >.
Silver Knight, you have to buy it as it’s the digital and physical thing you get for the Iceborne deluxe
@@deltazenturo1701 I found what armour it was about 5 minutes after I posted the comment. Thank you for your quick response.
I have a question about the wide sweep combo. I know it may not be optimal damage in all situations but i wanted to know which shelling type is best for it, if any one knows. I usually play hammer but im trying to branch out more so any tips are much appreciated
Also, for everyone trashing saying this build sucks, just know that you cant rely on optimal damage all the time.
Normal shelling for wide swing lance goes really nice to wide swing burst loop.
I hope alatreon is solo mode
Slinger capacity 3 only adds 30 sec of wys duration, wrong investment and waste of slots in my opinion, much better to use offensive guard , really easy to proc and 30% attack is massive if you could fit it in
You don’t use offensive guard on long shelling Gunlance lmao
evade extender, evade window and slinger capacity are trash..replace with flinch free stun reistance and part breaker
Are all of your endgame builds going to be Safi weapons?
He'll prolly have safi in most of them just because of the versatility they provide. For most weapons tho im sure raging brachy is stronger in terms of straight dps, aside from outliers that dont rely on raw as much.
Safi is the endgame meta
YEEEEESSSSSSSS
0:37 there’s an AT master rank kirin?
Hes referring to hr at kirin that was a pain, it will be the same when mr at kirin comes out
Dual Blades and Sword and Sheild please.
for slow sheathing weapons why not run quick sheathe 3
Ive considered this a lot actually, but think its better to play to the strength of the weapon and instead to use those slots for divine blessing
Make an Aerial Build for IG! Use Drachen 2 piece! Elemental Airborne double elemental damage!
that makes you weak and this is meant to be defensive + offensive
@@terramag7056 No, its powerful. I tested it with my sets. Of course not defensive in the normal sense, but nami gamma gives a lot of value for evasive gameplay. Also Drachen is still more efficient than most armour pieces. Go in game and do your research, u'll understand what i mean.
DB pls
there is no endgame build for lance. Because it need to be buff
0 Dmg lol
Wutt dblessing on gunlance 😂
All divine blessing secret all the time. Never build anything else and delete yourselves if you play lance! Now in delete yourselves for playing gunlance version as well.
I never told anyone to delete themselves for wanting to play lance, lance is one of my most played weapons
@@TheGameconomist you don't have to say it directly. They got the message.
@@TheGameconomist and you are bad at it, but let's just take that information out because "it's one of my most played weapons" sounds much more credible and intimidating to newer players (new players be like "oh one of most played weapons? he has to know shit" - well seems like walk right into the trap)
TheGameconomist Considering the staggering number of Lance players who disagree with your Lance playstyle, you’re an example of experience =\= skill
Let's just relay on RNG rather than understanding the monster to get good 😂
At first that is the best option yeah.
The only way you will get better is to effectively learn how to use your weapons not DB 5. RNG is will not always save you.
@@knocturnalegend Well how about this, YOU do whatever the fuck you want and the rest of us do whatever the fuck WE want. You're definitely not right and not the holder of all the truth in the world, nor are you wrong.
There might be multiple ways to play, but there are always certain playstyles that are superior and make hunting more fun, instead of being staggered because you can’t anticipate attacks.
it seems you dislike charge blade. rip. maybe eventually
Make ur own damm build. Reddit mhw meta builds. Google that shit.
Reeeeepppp
Here before all the sPeEdRuNnERs who get carried join and cry about it being a defensive build.
GL builds can have a lot of comfort so they build defensive skills like earplugs
I'm not a speedrunner but divine blessing on GL is a waste. I'd rather have full earplugs
Speedrunners get carried?
Justin Wayne yup
If anything, a player that can play an offensive build well would easily play a defensive build well, since they already do decent dmg from their playstyle. Players who can’t even play defensive build wouldn’t do any better with offensive builds. Sucks to do little to no dmg on both builds I guess
10 mins to kill an uragaan solo in the arena..... Please just stop making builds.
Because speed is all about in Monster Hunter... Just rude
Any recommendations for farming Warped Feystones? Aside from The Name's Lavasioth, if possible (not a difficult quest, just annoying to farm).
It's the one thing I'm missing for an endgame GL build, even after more than two years of TED's and higher.
I'm here with ya 😔
Nope lavasioth is best. You ain’t farming him right. What weapon you use?
consider crafting a minds eye jewel from the melder or using an insect glaive and putting fire on the kinsect to melt the armour
