- This Heavy Bowgun Build is literally the best way to kill monsters fast, easily, and safely in MHW Iceborne. Its actually stupid how good and easy to use this Shield Zinogre Heavy Bowgun Build.
The Zinogre heavy bowgun is literally the most overtuned, ridiculously stacked weapon in Monster Hunter World Iceborne.
With a full damage Heavy Bowgun build it hits insanely high damage numbers.
With a stupidly tanky Shield HBG build, the Zinogre HBG still deals higher DPS than half of the melee weapons. While using a Lance shield with level 5 guard.
In our opinion, the insane safety and power behind this build makes it the best Heavy Bowgun Build in the game for safe, consistent, and fast clears.

Same. It gets so disheartening to see constant builds that have a stack of decos that have an almost zero drop rate and relies completely on rng to ever be able to recreate it in my own game.

You know what’s baffling? Best Doggo HBG w/ shield n +5 Guard takes NO chip dmg while a lance +5 Guard does for the same attacks and with more knock back on some attacks.

Great video, tho one thing you guys missed about offensive guard HBG is that there's another way to trigger it, if you pull out the slinger and swap back to the bowgun right before getting hit it'll proc the skill, just thought ya'll'd like to know

@@O_RLY not sure if it's faster but it's definitely alot more controllable with the timing since your able to pull the slinger out at any time and be able to pull the bowgun back up whenever during that time

Thanks for the set, although, with my skill level, I'll probably get the jewel before I kill an MR Kirin. Tbh, I'm not even bad, I just can't stand Kirin, not a fun fight, Imo.
@Striffee I used to dislike fighting Kirin too, but now that we can soften his body with the clutch claw, he’s much more bearable and actually kinda fun, because you don’t have to focus exclusively on attacking his head anymore.
@@Heisenberger_29 it's kinda hard but sticky ammo lbg or hbg works the best for Kirin cause it doesnt have a high stun threshold. More so now cause a lot of weapons have higher stun value of attacks. Only problem is you need to have memorized his attacks.

Just tried this. Even with an incomplete build with just the first tier of the zindoggo HBG, it's already ridiculously op.
In my experience its actually been super easy to activate offensive guard with a very similar build. The timing on it is pretty forgiving with how short the attack commitments are.
Just use activate your slinger shot and cancel it, its so much easier tbh.

Oh yeah its honestly not difficult to proc off guard, there's a few techniques to proc it that work very consistently.
But these sets focus on comfiness, and off guard is much less comfy than pressing r2 and just stopping when something is about to hit you.
I became a HBG main back when I was hr29. A lot of my friends were talking smack about how HBG was gonna be useless and get rekt by the monsters in iceborne.....well I say to them.....stoopid

This gun is stoopid af, but I'm glad that one of the most overpowered weapons in the game belongs to Zinogre. To me, it feels correct.

Got partied with 3 randoms all using loyal thunder. We got the extremoth down in little over 10+ minutes. Imagine if there are four.
As a Guard 5 Lance main, can confirm there are plenty of attacks that still chip. Always the ones with long wind-ups like Teo Nova or Shara Cannon or whatever. Zinogre himself has a LOT of chip on a few of his attacks, particularly the jump attack that can launch him across zones. Can't wait to pick up Glutton 2.0 so I can play "Lance but better" again lol
The "I'm pretty tired and I want to do relaxing hunts quickly" build. I'm def making one for sure. (Also spread jewel is a myth!)

but i got 3 attack jewels n fucking 8 pierce jewels
I'm convinced that once you pop your first rare jewel it lowers the rng to get more. I got about 20 weakness exploit and earplugs and my pal who has played more than me has zero of either. He has spread jewels and free elements and I gots nada I'm close to a thousand hours in.
update: rajang investigations gave me 2 spread jewels
In my quest to obtain a Marathon Jewel, i ended up getting 2 Shield Jewels, several Critical Jewels, 2 Spread Jewels, 2 Bow Charge Jewels, a Dragonseal Jewel, an Awakening Jewel, and...no Marathon Jewel.
You can actually roll or reload into Offensive Guard. You can even activate Evasion Mantle and Offensive Guard off one attack and you can get Release/Offensive Guard decos (the only reason I started running it). Health Boost 3 is complete overkill when you have an invincible shield.
We could also mix in 2 pieces of Blackveil Vaal set for Peak Perfomance 3 and Super Recovery.. You don't heal super fast but could make up for any potential chip damage while maintaining Peak uptime. They have pretty good slots as well.
Also, those next level mindgames by Black Diablos.. What a well designed fight.
Or you could activate your slinger ammo then cancel it when the monster is about to hit you.
@@369darkness Ohhh that's a good point. It didn't really cost me anything so I've had it equipped for a while, it actually goes off fairly often even when I'm not trying.
Could be worth looking into as a bonus lvl 4 Deco skill. I'm using Super Recovery and Peak Perfomance 3 but I'm one level 2 slot away from having all the best skills.. Blackveil Vaal helm and belt are so close to being optimal. Unless I'm missing something, but I have to sacrifice one level or critical boost or guard up to make my set work..
You really don't even need Guard or Guard Up against some enemies if you have multiple shield mods, but then sometimes I run into something you do need them against and it's very bad. I usually ditch the Critical Boost augment just in case.. I'll take like 4.5% less DPS for Super Recovery. It really sucks when you have to sheathe heavy bow gun..

Basically my old set but minus the fortify for divine blessing 5. Not that it matters cause you're guarding but the fact that i can have that in there as well its amazing for if get clipped or mess up a reload. Keen to see what you guys have and if you have any more dps orientated guard gun sets :D

The most 2 important new decorations are the critical boost/vitality jewel and the release/protection jewel. Aside from that it's 2 other crit boost jewels, 2 spread jewels, a shield jewel, 3 Tenderizer Jewels and the experter +2 Jewel. Mantle decorations are up to you but I'll always put slugger 2 in my impact mantle and evade extender in my glider mantle.
Lachie - 004 I use the same build but the arms . I use Kaiser Arms B and have everything u mentioned in my build . Was able to add lvl 2 offensive guard .

The problem is,that it's not worth the hassle to do all this combos and stuff with other weapons,while you can just hide behind this beast and do MORE damage haha.
and if you are a fan of shooters, being able to have a gun build that is actually on par with your best melee builds(if not even better) is pretty godamn fun

@@renthevillain1885 I think LS is a bit weak in iceborne. I was sad when i made my first LS build and it was only a little bit stronger, than my kjarr LS and there was no health augment. Now im in endgame, but LS feels like shit.

Yeah, a poverty version of each builds would be nice, I personaly played World on ps4 so I have a lot of Decos, but I don't really have the time to farm except on weekends, so a easy build to make is really nice to see.
Kind of sucks, but honestly ps4 has it the best and is the way to go, with that save modifier and you can even take your PC save and transfer it to ps4. Xbox don't have anything lmao
Yeah, at least until it release on PC, PS4 is the way to go, kinda suck that our brothers hunters on Xbox don't get some events themed to Gears or Halo, but seeing the absolute disaster the Xbox one was in Japan , I can't really blame Capcom.
These builds and commentary are still valid as of 04/27/21 - There are better HBGs now but they just make this OP build even more OP. The cost of entry is extremely low as everything here can be mindlessly solo'ed. One big note, the honeyhunter buildcard in the video is not showing the WEX+ skill. However, it is being calculated in the the Effective Raw number. I know this is an old video but huge kudos to JinJinx/Tuna for doing what you do!

Hell, before you can even upgrade the Zin HBG all the way it's still ridiculous. Ridiculously fun, cleared almost all the arena optionals with chain wall slams, impact mantle, wall slam, capture, didn't even need the shield but it made it extra comfy.
In fact, the Zin HBG is ridiculous, ridiculous broken.

@@Ensanguine. yup, making the other ammo more worthwile would be the way to go, its not like its old slicing/clusters, you need to stay close, aim properly and you give up quite a bit of damage to get the safety of the shield.

Ironside Charm V doesn't require you to get MR100+ material. It takes 2 research commission tickets +, Tempered Radoban material in Guiding lands, Spirit vein shard, and Phantomcore ore.

I knew it. I never watched new HBG Iceborne builds but I gravitated to the full guard Zinogre spread build. It's good.
You know, I don't think that the gun itself is overtuned, it's a problem with how Iceborne was balanced... Every monster has no recovery frames after attacks now, defensive options are easily THE most valuable skill any weapon can offer you (from a comfy perspective, not speedrun). For average joes like myself, I saw no reason to use anything other than Lance, CB and HBG on my way to MR70, anything other weapons could do, it wasn't as safe and as effective as these weapons. If the monster flies or is constantly zooming around (or Barioth which does both) then ONLY the HBG can deal with them as they keep pumping damage at a distance where melee weapons need constant relocation with a Rocksteady to cause damage. Ranged is extremely favored in Iceborne, not just because of the damage, but because the way the monsters and CC was balanced.
The amount of videos coming out for this weapon is insane I guess my time of being the only person using this weapon in multiplayer is gonna change

My main “melee” weapon is guns...
So anyways, he's been blasting
A tip for everyone.
Even tho Offensive Guard is not that easy to activate on HBG you can slot it into mantles to have even more damage. With some practice you will learn how to preventive fire and quick scope to activate it almost every time and is a large damage boost
Use the glider mantle with 2 LV 4 slots for 180 seconds and 120 cooldown and it is basically always up
I personally use rocksteady with 2x tool specialist and glider with 2x offensive guard + anything
You can even drop rocksteady and get a mantle with like 210 seconds cooldown to get almost 100% uptime on the extra skills
For example: elemental mantles have 180 sec duration and 210 second cooldown. Thant means you will have 360 seconds uptime and 30 seconds downtime for offensive guard +2 extra skills of LV 4 slots
This is not accounting for tool specialist in the build because in that case you can realistically reach 100% uptime.
Finally, a poverty build. I cannot thank you enough for that! Gosh i rly need to farm decos :/

I whipped this set together, threw on Mightning 1 (still missing that Skymerald) and hunted a Zinogre in 11 minutes with no carts and only 2 max pots used, despite never having used HBG before in any MH game.
This thing is pretty busted.

I also know that these builds are boring as hell (all well too similar), but maybe you can come up with something good on your own that fits your playstyle 🤗. I know exactly how you feel, acidic glavenus seems like the only competent HH with a few others but I feel like all the good HH have horrible sharpness or if they do have good sharpness the songs mostly sucks...
As much as I like the new attack hitting blue sharpness because I'm not using the 'mandatory' master touch from teostra is just the worst... is either that or max the shit out of Handicraft in every build...
You can offensive guard if you toggle your slinger ammo , draw the weapon or roll the last two are iffy like you said but the singer toggle can be very useful. Hopes this helps someone

Just so we're clear, there is plenty of room for an intermediate stage between the poverty build and comfy build in case you do have a lot of decos but are missing one or two critically necessary ones like the Shield Jewel.
For instance, if you happen to have two spread jewels, you could drop the Lavasioth grieves for the Yian Garuga grieves B+, switch out the alpha armors for their beta counterparts, and be left with much better deco slottage for things like crit eye, crit boost, Free Element/Ammo Up, vitality, etc.
I feel like this is kinda overhyped. Maybe I'm just bad with HBG, but I find it difficult to tenderize wounds consistently because the CC animation for HBG takes like 5 years. I hunt MUCH more efficiently with Switch Axe.
The goal is to NOT inflict wounds, but just shoot with 70% crit rate which is still plenty high enough. The build is a "turn your brain off" setup.
Even without tenderizing monster part, this gun hits like a double trucks

It's only a goal to strive towards. Just use what you have until you get them. If you had every gem, you would have no reason to play.

@@cleander3645 Pc is essentially just the console but three months behind, so yes. It is as strong on pc now, as it was then on console. I also don't think they changed anything, but I could be wrong.

Alternate option (If your like me and have no luck with Zinogre's drops), is the Great Jagras HBG it also gets Wyvern Heart, and it's been what I've been using when I use HBG due to lack of Zinogre Deathly Shockers and I don't have a overly good Kulve HBG, not to mention you can Build the Great Jagras one and upgrade it to full, pretty much on starting Master Rank, it might not be as good but it's something.

Why do premiere for this?:/ Everyone can tell how the build goes already since base World used to have a comfy guard HBG build as well for easy cheese when it first was out... Only now it sacrifices damage skills for Guard 5 and Guard Up and uses Offensive Guard to make up for the damage difference because it's a % boost so it's pretty darn strong!
Making a premiere has nothing to do with the content of the video. Pretty sure they're experimenting with the format to see if it benefits their channel.
@@RiskOfBaer That may be the case, but when someone does premiere it gives you an alert at first since that's when it's considered the video is out, then people stop caring and forget about the video when it's actually out since they don't get notified again.
Shara's beam attacks can fuck you up pretty good with the insane stamina drain and chip damage you receive when blocking using this build.
So when are you gonna update this with the safi guns

I think people are overreacting simply because it's a ranged weapon that requires no 'effort'. I think we've been here before with slicing.
In truth, this isn't remotely the fastest way to kill something. Is it comfy? Hell yeah, but it's no more comfy than those divine blessing builds stacked with fortify. Also, it gets countered as hard as lance with all the trash bullshit that was added to iceborne via aoe tick damage. Go ahead and try this setup against Jho or lunastra.
Imo the guard thing is fine, but they should definitely take away the scope ability on spread.. that shit is dumb af
Good thing Jho and Lunatra gear are absolute trash and not meta at all except for Jho LBG for RPS2, which is only for Shara Tenderplate farming :^)

For some reason I have 10 spread decos, last time I checked. Still NO FORCESHOT wtf.
Huh, i didnt know spread decos were rare, as a CB main ive got a bunch of them, but guess which was the very last deco i got at around 850 hours in? Thats right, Guard up :'). The desire sensor man, messes all of us up.
Been using this build in the guiding lands for the past 2 days and FYI....
It’s so godly. Teostra Eruption/nuke attack tickles you, and Rajang can’t do ANYTHING to you. It’s absolute invincibility with god Damage.
And of course, Impact Mantle+ with slugger built in just makes any fight a joke.
