I bought two of these solo e20 cams in November 2021 and set each up...one for the front of the house, one for the back. They each worked wonderfully until May, 2022. It was odd, but within a couple weeks of each other, both cameras died.
The cause of death? Not sure, but they each started refusing to connect or stay connected to the network. I tried everything and even walked through troubleshooting with Eufy. This happened to both cameras within a few weeks of each other and I immediately went through the steps of trying to fix each when it happened. That means I dealt with all of this twice.
Anyway, the end result for each situation was Eufy sending replacement cameras because I was still under the 1 year warranty.
So...May/June 2022, I have two new eufy cameras back up and operating great. I was happy with Eufy support. They're great and seemed to stand by their product. No hassle on the replacement process.
Now, we are in April 2023. Guess what happened? One of the cameras is doing exactly what happened to the original cameras....refusing to connect to the network. It's out of the blue, too. It was working fine and it was time to charge it so I put it on the charger and got the notification that charging was done. Suddenly it won't connect. It won't even beep if you try to go through the steps to uninstall the camera altogether and reinstall. I can't even factory reset it. I tried going through the steps with Eufy customer service to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. Sure enough I was doing it right. The camera has just decided it's not going to work anymore.
I asked Eufy if these cameras are intended to be disposable, and they assured me they are not, however I find the evidence to suggest otherwise. This is now three cameras which have died when they are less than a year old.
I am no longer under the 1 year warranty which only applies to the original purchase date. Eufy does not warranty the product to last a year. They promise to replace faulty products that die within a year of the original purchase. That's a big difference, and to be fair, that's industry standard as far as warranty practices go.
However, what the heck, Eufy? The evidence shows that your products are meant disposable cameras that are thrown away and replaced once you use for 6 months to a year. At least the Eufy solocam e20 is.
Let's see how much longer the back yard camera lasts. If I'm correct, it won't last more than a few more months.
Anyone have suggestions on a camera brand without a subscription they would recommend?

Had problem getting camera to recognize the phones QR in setup. Turns out the screen's NEXT button blocks enough of the QR to make the camera fail to recognize it. Scrolled it up a bit and, voila, it worked. Little things like that can drive you bananas!

Have you tested it to see how far it will work from your Wi Fi gateway in the house ?
I just purchased the Eufy 2K wireless doorbell. Not the one with the homebase. The one that has the "Indoor Chime". It's rechargeable but can be hooked up to the doorbell wiring ( which I did ) and that keeps it charged. No having to remove it to charge it.
Anyway,
Before I hooked it up I took it to my garage which is in back of my house and about 80 feet away from my Gateway with the Wi Fi and was surprised I still got a very good signal.
I'm wanting to get this camera for the back of my garage.
A little worried It might not work being that far away, but thinking of trying it since the Doorbell I took out there to try actually did work about 80 feet away.

I have an interesting question for you! Is the screw hole on the back of the camera the same size as camera holes? I ask this because if so, this camera could be mounted on any tripod! Would really appreciate if you could let me know. That would add a very unique functionality only available to the E20 and not newer models
have you tried pairing with an after market solar panel? if yes, how did you water proof/resistant the micro USB plug?

Hi! I really enjoyed your video and I just bought the Eufy Solo Cam e20; however, I do have a question before I set this thing up. Does this have a way to alert me for human presence and not pets? I want to put this in the backyard but I don’t want my dogs to keep activating the alerts.

what if you don't have wifi ? Do they make a camera like this that would talk to a 3 Terabyte recorder ? Or should I see if the 25/month internet has the capacity for the wifi ?

Yes, on the phone app or computer.
@@cromeit thanks for your information the first day I used the app it didn't work when away from my home WiFi but they updated the app the next day so it now it works with my phone when away from the home wifi 😊
@@zannybc Zan, cool , , , The Solo cameras can't trigger another camera as the other eufy non Solo's can. I have both Solo E20's and 2C Pro's.
