Just picked up a 07 with about 124k on it! It had a small pond in the rear passenger seat. The guy I got it from didn’t have no clue where it was coming from. I’ll be fixing this problem tomorrow. Thanks
@@GetThisNick Fixed ours and it works. We found a second leak on the other side, that was getting the seat belt wet. It was that black plastic B-pillar cover. Resealed it and we're all good...
Great tutorial Nick! I did my 03 Cartier TC when I got it a few years ago. We were just blessed to pick up our second one this weekend. It’s an 03 Executive series TC with 75k miles on it. This is one of the only things that needs to be done to it. When I saw the carpet back there being a TC owner I immediately knew what it was and how easy it is to fix! We have 2 now!! 😂
I had the same issue on my '96. It would just soak the passenger-side footwell. I had the same issue on the driver's side. It turned out to be a clogged drain. GREAT VIDEO!
Thanks so much for this DIY Video Nick, it was great. Yes I have seen Anthony's video also. When I bought my Town Car from Anthony I asked him if the Cowell had been done and he said Yes, so I trust him and wont do it again unless I actually do start getting leaks. However, I was thinking of checking it though so maybe I will just to be 100 Percent sure. Thanks Nick. Have good weekend... !!!!
Thanks John! Anthony is the king of these cars! He really knows them very well, I’m sure you or your car has nothing to worry about. Enjoy your weekend stay safe out here! 👍🏼
What if it's leaking on the front drivers floor board? Also the top door seals are hollow and get clogged with debris. (I cleaned) My Moms 2006 was garage kept, 46,000 miles. I got it and it is outside and leaking.
Hey. Can someone tell me, I have a 2006 Town car and I have a wet floor in the trunk. The rubber seal is fine, but I don’t understand where the water in the trunk comes from?
I don’t believe so but there’s always a possibility. I’ve heard of these cars having water behind the drivers seat and it ended up being something to do with the firewall on the car. Almost like there was a water coming in through a spot in the firewall behind/underneath the steering column of the vehicle
Its coming from the hood opening latch where the cable routes through firewall, but after i sealed that, i know get water leaking into rear again but front is dry. Might just have to pull the carpet and find exactly where its comjng from. Could be rear door seal, trunk seal, or maybe one of the bolts where the seat mounts up to could be leaking through, but seeing as it doesnt happen ehen car is driving rather ehen it sits in the rain, i doubt it.
I fixed my Lincoln town car This way the previous owner had just knocked a hole in the floorboard look like with a hatchet or something instead of addressing the issue.
Panther platforms are some of the most reliable cars you can find. There are some unreliable American cars (and Japanese) of course, but calling out these Panther platforms is just barking up the wrong tree. Some Japanese cars are reliable, some American cars are reliable. There's lemons of models and rough patches of production years from probably every car manufacturer out there, including Lexus and Toyota.
You mean like Toyota truck frames being recalled for breaking in half or the Takata airbag fiasco, affecting 65 million vehicles, including most Honda vehicles? The Lincoln Town Car, which is built on the legendary Panther chassis, and using the ultra reliable 4.6 liter V8, is one of the most reliable cars in existence. Police departments used and abused this platform for decades, and when they finished with them, the cab companies used them some more, and most are still on the road. Livery services still use the Town Car, years after it was discontinued. A simple worn rubber HVAC seal is a simple maintenance item, unlike a Jatco transmission in a Nissan failing, or power window switches in 6.5 million Toyotas that could catch fire...
I fixed this issue on my 05, and now i have water puddling up on my driver side passenger. I fixed that leak, was coming from the hood latch cable area where the cable routes through the firewall. Now im getting a leak to my rear again, but not from where it was coming in before. And theres no good indication of where the fuck its coming from bc its only in back driver side. When it leaked there originally it was due to the cable shit leaking, but since i fixed that the driver foot well doesnt get wet, just the rear.
Great video bro I’ll be doing it this weekend. OCF
Let’s get it! 🫡
Thank you I've been racking my brain trying to figure out where the leak on mine was coming from.
You’re welcome!

Thanks very much for this video. Never would have thought coming from under the hood. Going to do this weekend. Saving a lot of people money 👍
@@KimberlyBritt-n9l Glad I can help!
I used a micofiber cloth and small amount of rubbing alcohol to clean all area to be sealed. Let dry than add the new permatex sealer.

@@GetThisNick Yes Sir Nick, Anthony is the MAN. !!! So yes not too worried. You have great and safe weekend too man. Thanks :)
thanks for the video will be tackling soon
Years ago I used caulking and gasket maker and both attempts didn’t work. I used a water proof door seal and that did the trick for me.
I heard about using the weather stripping as well! I’m hoping the sealant is enough for me 🤞🏼
@@GetThisNick I wish you best of luck
Thanks for the video!
My 2006 has just started leaking behind my drivers seat last week !!!
I have a 2010 with 185k miles. I wonder if you could just leave the original gasket on and supplement with the permatex?
I think after this fix the car is worth about 17.5k now!
So… one of the plastics screws were missing on mine the other one broke 😅!! Anybody know where I can get replacements or something sufficient?

When this is the problem, will it make the car stall at all? Or hold back from driving
@@QuintusJames33 No
What happens if you have to replace the blower motor below it? The sealer will make that impossible now.
Youll just have to cut it with razor and redo it when you put it back.
Whooaaaa what’s that Barbie thing in the garage 😂😂👀

Hey. Can someone tell me, I have a 2006 Town car and I have a wet floor in the trunk. The rubber seal is fine, but I don’t understand where the water in the trunk comes from?
Would this cause leaking into the driver side rear passenger seat?

@@GetThisNick thanks! I’ll reseal the cowl gasket and hope that fixes the water leak. If not, probably to the mechanic it goes.

When it comes to panther platform that is not really true. No car is perfect. This is just a minor issue compared to other things.
