  • In this video I go over some of the top things to know and to look out for when you're buying a Lincoln Town Car. If you're in the market for one of these cars and you believe you found the right Lincoln Town Car for sale, you may need to check over some of the things in this list. I'm no mechanic, but to the best of my ability I try to break down the ins and outs of these cars between cosmetic downfalls as well as some mechanical things.
I know there's things I am missing, but I just wanted to give the average shopper a general foundation to use and go off of when in the market to purchase one of these Lincoln Town cars.
If you have some more things you would like to add to this list, or If you'd just like to explain in detail something I mentioned, feel free to comment!
This was just a basic Lincoln Town Car Review on what to look out for when shopping for a Lincoln Town Car for sale

16:16 all 2003-11 Town Cars have 5 blend door actuators, most any modern vehicle have this many blend door actuators if not more. 2003 and 2004 almost never fail. 2005-11 lots fail... you can change 3 of the 5 on 03+ Town Cars with out dash removal. you can change the driver's side temp, pass side temp, recirculate door with out dash removal, the two mode doors require dash removal, this would be like vent vs floor vs windshield....

2004 BDA for temp control can fail. I've done two of them. Always replace with OEM. Vents are controlled by vacuum and are very reliable.

I have a daily driver 2004 Ultimate L with 209,000 miles on it, and it is a wonderful car. One area to definitely look at is damp carpeting. The cowl air intake has insufficient gaskets that can allow water to leak into the car. I've got that going on right now.
Also, these cars are showing up at the junkyard in huge numbers. Very plentiful right now, but that won't be the case in a few years. Lots of great parts are going to the crusher everyday and it would be a good idea for guys like us that have an appreciation for these Lincolns to grab all the parts we can. Interior items like nice leather seats/covers, door pull straps, console armrest covers, detachable chrome bumper moldings etc will be the things that will soon be unobtainable.

Also if you have the means to. Anytime you buy a 20 year old or older car IF YOU CAN FIND A JUNKYARD AND THAT IS A BIG IF NOW DAYS. Junkyards are something of a dying breed. I honestly don't know where they are going to be honest. For most of my life (I am 52) junkyards have been disappearing since the turn of the century before that finding one was really easy. Anyway as I was saying IF YOU HAVE THE MEANS when investing in an older cargo to a junkyard and invest in a PART'S CAR, or 2. Depending on how long you plan on having it. Also ESPECIALLY if it is a project car. A lot of times now insurance companies will "Total" a vehicle when it can be repaired.

It’s hard to be a car enthusiast in Chicago with only one daily driver car. Many hazards: weather, salt on the roads, crazy drivers, theft and break ins. The weird thing about the crashed and burned Buick is that it was left in place, no one cares, it hasn’t been towed away.

Luv that color man! Good vid. Bought my 04' TC 12 years ago. Will never get rid of it. Have put a little over 110k miles on it and the only issue I've ever had was replacing the intake manifold which is very common on these. That 4.6 2v will never quit if you take care of it. Just bought a 09' F-150 with the same motor!

    • @GetThisNick

Did you replace the intake manifold yourself? How hard of a job was it?

    • @Ace-44
      @Ace-44 9 дней назад +1

@GetThisNick I didn't but I should have. It's kinda in-depth but it's definitely doable. There's a good video on RUclips if you decide you want to do it yourself.

Thanks Nick, another great video. Oh my God Nick the weather has SUCKED in Northern Virginia also. I have not taken my Town Car out of the Garage in three weeks, been driving my F-150 so I can protect the Lincoln. My Undercarriage is SO PERFECT on the TC that I do not want to risk any Salt at all or Brine or any of those other chemicals that will tear her up. Maybe, just maybe I can take her out this week. Your video is Spot On, as we are all dealing with these issues in the rust belt. How do we protect our Beautiful Cars and still drive them...???

That boy Flo! What’s up brother I just use regular 87 in her. I’ve looked into that before on forums and a lot of people said they didn’t notice any real difference and since Lincoln doesn’t recommend or require premium, I stick to the regular stuff 👍🏼💪🏼

Oh also Nick, on the closing of the automatic trunk, I just double click the trunk button to close it, I don't hold it like you were, if you hold it like that it thinks you want it to pop back open again. Just try clicking it twice to close but don't hold it. See if that works. Thanks...

I do want to address a couple of things you mentioned. What part of the country you get the car from or where it has spent it's life. Try to get a history of the areas it has spent most of its life. If there's snow and ice where it's been. You will have to be extra vigilant looking for the rust, mainly from salted roads. In warmer areas engines tend to get run harder. So be aware more of that. It goes without saying if your not mechanically inclined take it to a mechanic to get it checked out. Before any vehicle test drive check fluid levels. After recheck, look at oil if it milky, smells sweet or of gas. You definitely have a leak in your engine. While warm you will have a quart or 2 in the engine. So it will be lower. If it is a bigger difference you losing oil. Once it cools off enough to safely open radiator cap look for oil streaks. If there that's another sign of leaks. These are all major repairs. Anyway I am new to the channel. I like what I see, & have subscribed.

As far as the actuators there are a few behind the dash some easier to get to than others, Amazon has motorcraft YH-1753 ready to ship. I just replaced one behind the glovebox on my 06 that control the passenger side vents, rear vents and floor board. Not a hard job to do was done in about 15 min. Also the intake manifold is common weak point along with the rear airbags. All of these repairs can be done by anyone if you have the patience and the time and you have plenty of room to work under the hood. There and plenty of good videos that show step by step on how to replace these items.

The trunk remote auto up and down it’s the 2 motor modules that go out also the trunk soft close latch is also a common thing that goes out the partial up and down is intermittent failure if you don’t disconnect it or replace it eventually it will fail completely and you will lose full functionality of the feature the trunk latch module is more important that fails your trunk will not close period lol

salt cars, be sure to smear some type of grease on the copper mesh main power wire on the starter, behind the red cap, its a 1.5 inch copper mesh wire that runs from the starter solenoid into the starter motor, salt gets on this copper wire and turns it into green powder after 10 years of salt...
