We have similar dish in Tamil Nadu called Mor kozhambu but its just that we add coconut and some lentils and grind it as a paste and add it instead of adding onions to it 😊

In Karnataka,we call this majjige huli. We add vegetables like pumpkin or ash gourd in it. Slight variation. Nice recipe.good for Summers and when you don't have veggies at home

Churn the butter milk, add salt, turmeric powder to it. Keep aside
Tempering : heat oil and add mustard seeds, jeera, dried chilli, curry leaves, crushed garlic or crushed ginger (anything is fine) but not both
Saute in the oil
Transfer it into butter milk
Add few chopped raw onion
That's it, authentic Andhra Majjiga pulsu would go well with rice and any fry beside 👍🏻

Traditional Andhra's Majjiga pulusu recipe does not recommend onion and tomato. And definitely not a kilogram of asafoetida. We call it Majjiga pulusu not majjiga charu.
Please do not name the dishes as and how you like... in receipes related to curd generally you should never ever add onion... please do remember that.. except for raita in biriyani .. and in andhra majjiga pulusu is a complete different recipe.. please do not refer this one to a very special majjiga pulusu
