- In the 1950s not only did Formula 1 come into existence for the first time, but just a few years in a (literal) revolution took place, sending engines from in front of the driver to behind. The Richmond & Gordon Trophies at the Goodwood Revival recreates these tumultuous days.

Thank you Goodwood for putting all these Revival races online! You are legends 🤗
I love the Lancia/Ferrari D50 so much.
Lancia smashed it with the D50, seconds quicker than the previous years F1 cars, but they were skint - they were instructed to gift them to Ferrari by the then government. Ferrari didn't improve them. Lancia, along with Alfa GP cars to me are the ultimate expression.
@@TheXJRMAN Yeah, Lancia always has those moments of brilliance.. that's then hampered by the state of their finances...
I do too. I had a model in the 70's a curbside type model it may have well been a slot car body. This led to a Stratos. Lancias are so cool I then in the 80's I had bought a Beta coupe 1978 it had the fuelie wiring but was still carbureted. A builder.Every option short of the automatic tilt headlights this feature was reserved for the HPE sedan. It thinks me off that I never got it going on the road. Real potential. I understand they rusted out very easily. The enginuity in the car though was something else and it sounded more than willing. I still lust for lancias
id give up modern f1 anyday for this to return
Well, it has . It's here 😃
Coopers demonstrating again how far ahead they were from everyone else, in both space _and_ time 🤩
@Goodwood Road & Racing,
I must say, that I am late to the stream at Sunday, and so I missed this race entirely, so again, thank you for posting it and the others. Love those cars, especially those Maserati 250Fs, of which there's two in the grid. Love seeing one being driven quickly by John Spiers.
Solidarity. Maserati 250F - best and beautiest front-engined GP racer!
This is a fun class to watch. Eclectic history lessons aplenty.
It's always such a treat to see these early racing cars driven so hard instead of just being coddled in a show room.
great cars of my younger years....love them....the podium "interviews" show one thing....all the drivers "worry" their cars to the chequered flag....😅
They raced at Zandvoort this summer. It sounds much better then the current F1 cars. I made a compilation of the highlights there.
D50, class of the field.
AWESOME. The drifting is epic!!!
Right tankslapper for #18 . Held it well (eventually ) 😎
These things are so fast!
You make it sound like an old folks home after lights out.
should list the year of the car too.
6:55 what a moment by the 10 car
Excelentes carreras.. Salud2

8:30 - Did the commentary team actually miss the Lotus driver waving through the Cooper driver ??
Looks like that's when the problems started for Miles Griffiths...
GO FERRARI GO !!!!!
❤ Lotus 18
Where, but Goodwood?
No Alfetta 158 or 159 ?
The Alfetta is not for this grid. It would've run at the Goodwood Trophy grid for 1930s-early 1950s GP, Voiturette & Formula Libre race cars.
One Alfetta is originally entered for the Goodwood Trophy this year, but it was later scratched.
LOTUS = Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious. 🙂🙂🙂🙃🙃🙃😊😊😊
🏁🏁🏁🏁👏👏👏👏
Offenhausers are 4 cylinders
Right, including 4.5 and 4.2 Indy ones. The Scarab engine was built by Offenhauser but is a completely different design.
Softy parade ? What ?
