One difference between a religion and a cult is that religions tolerate and mostly ignore any critics and naysayers, and just move forward with those who have common beliefs. Cults, on the other hand, have very little tolerance for members who question or criticize the organization or its leaders, and will move to punish and penalize offenders in many ways, usually making it as public and painful as possible. Social pressure is a powerful tool, and one that cults depend upon heavily for their status and longevity.

I share your experience with everything you shared about your story here. I want you to know that reading your comment helped me to find comfort and healing in the impossible situation that I thought only I could ever know how it feels. My 2 children were adopted against my will when I was 15&17, started as an open adoption but they later changed their mind and I have no contact for 8 years now. I have past of addiction like you. I also have a Mormon family like you. The Lord has provided much blessing and healing for me as I pray He will continue to for you as well. I have been very blessed that He has used me to witness to them and I pray that the seeds planted will take root. I have been inspired by Jeff and his church to help other Mormons as well. I am new in the faith but Lord willing, I hope to be on the streets like Apologia. Your comment meant so much to me! May grace be multiplied to you! ❤

Amazing how Mormon theology changes with the wind. When US. Congress refused to allow Utah statehood, due to polygamy & pedophilia .God came to the Mormon church and told them to give up multiple wives & sex with children... In1978, Jessie Jackson led a planned Salt Lake City protest of Blacks non admission to the priesthood & the temple. 100,000 Black men were organizing a protest in Utah of racist Mormon church teachings; Then, that same year, God then came to the Mormon church and told them black people were now okay. For 180 years, Mormon church taught hateful things towards Gays. Now in 2023, after bad press, God has told the Mormon church to back off the condemnation of Gays...Interesting timing of God's revelations & heat the Mormon Church was feeling.

If your not close then I would recommend a Good biblical church. Presbyterians are Great. Baptist, Lutherans, i could list a number of good churches. I know thats a big question. What church should I join. That was Joseph's big question right. Because in the morman theology its said they all dont agree on the bible. But here is the real story. See the Baptist, and Presbyterian churches. Perfect example. We have differences in small things. Like Baptist believe that a person should be pretty much an adult before being baptized. Because most kids dont understand or fully grasp the seriousness of what baptism is and what its for. The Presbyterians believe that as soon as they have a profession of faith then they can be Baptized. And its not to wash sins away. Because we believe that Jesus's work is all we need. Jesus was baptized for us. Jesus took the wrath of God for us. And so on. But Baptim is a command right. So its a must but it doesn't save. Its an outward show of how God has changed us to want to fallow him. Cause once God has touched you. One you know it. There is nothing and i mean nothing like that. I was at work. And broke down right there and started praying. I was drinking every night and using benzos all the time just addicted to a bunch of things. But as soon as he touched me i didn't want any of it anymore. I went to my doctors that Friday and he helped me get off the drugs and the alchohol and yeah. But i had the same question what church do i join. So i studied the bible and when i would go to a church or message a church id ask about traditions. Cause jesus nails the pharisees and there traditions to the wall. Id ask about faith alone cause thats what jesus said. Who ever believes in me. Has eternal life and does not come up for the judgment but has passed from death to life. And paul also talked about it. And i looked for one that suited me. I made the mistake of going to a catholic church. Big mistake. You wanna see a church that puts there traditions before Gods law. The morman church is one but the catholic church is a big one. I went back and forth with the church father for minute. And i finally found this church. Witch is funny cause I had seen it and thought that it was one of these new churches that say its faith alone and you can just say you believe and not do anything. But after talking with the pastor i went to a few sunday services and have been there since and talking with the pastor all the time learning and studying.

Plural marriage was first introduced into Mormonism by Joseph Smith in the 1830's (see Topical Index: Jospeh Smith: Polygamy). It is a common misconception to think of the practice of polygamy as starting with Brigham Young and the Mormon's trip west. Even though Joseph Smith had already married several women, he did not dictate his famous revelation on eternal marriage and polygamy until 1843 (Doctrine and Covenants, section 132). By the time he died he had been sealed to at least 33 women. 1 1 In a Salt Lake Tribune review of Todd Compton's In Sacred Loneliness on Smith's polygamy we read:
In identifying 33 well-documented wives of [Joseph] Smith - other researchers have placed the figure as high as 48 - Compton found that in the case of 11 women, Smith's polygamy was polyandrous. That is, the women were married and cohabiting with their husbands, who mostly were faithful Mormons, when Smith married them.
Yet not one divorced her "first husband" when Smith was alive. Indeed, they continued to live with their civil spouses while married to Smith.
"If one superimposes a chronological perspective, one sees that of Smith's first 12 wives, nine were polyandrous...."
Compton, a practicing Mormon...spent much of the 1990's combing pioneer records, diaries and reminiscences....
Eleven of Smith's wives were between ages 14 and 20, nine were in their 20s, eight were in Smith's own peer group of 31 to 40, two were in their 40s and three in their 50s. . . .
Toward the end of Smith's life, knowledge of his secret marriages began to leak out. William Law, Smith's second counselor ... filed suit against the church leader for living 'in an open state of adultery' with 19-year-old Maria Lawrence.
In a speech a month before his death, Smith responded by flatly denying polygamy, which was illegal under federal law. "What a thing it is for a man to be accused of committing adultery, and having seven wives, when I can only find one," he said. (Salt Lake Tribune, December 13, 1997, p. C2. See Smith's entire speech in History of the Church, Vol. 6, pp. 408-412.)
For the next fifty years the practice of plural marriage was considered essential to attain godhood. Brigham Young, second president of the LDS Church, declared "The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy" (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 11, p. 269, August 19, 1866).

THE LDS. church Here is something to think about when considering the L.D.S. religion a.k.a the Mormon church.
Three things to think of….. 1. First off, How many wives did Joseph Smith have?
2nd. They believe they can become a God.
3rd. If Joseph Smith was a Godly man?
Then why was He put in jail at the age of 17 for being a con man? Lets look at the hard cold facts
so back to number 1, Joseph Smith had over 40 wives, 10 of them under the age of 16. Helen Kimball who was only age 14 and had 1 set of twins. Fact Joseph smith also had 10 wives, all who were “other” men’s wives who were still very much alive at the time that -Joseph Smith married them.
This doesn't…. sound like a profit of God, it sounds more like a swinger, just like Hugh Heffner of …..Playboy fame.
Jesus said in the Bible ( Matthew 23:4 and romans 7:3 “If you so much as “look” at another women with lust you have committed adultery.”
Who would you believe Joseph Smith, that says it’s ok to do this or Jesus who is God??? Who says “NO”... ‘’that’s a no brainer.
2nd “How is it that Joseph Smith believed that they could become a God? But when we read in the bible Isaiah 43:10 it makes it very clear we could never be a God. “No way” “No how No! No! “Not NEVER!” “is that not what the devil tried to do in heaven, or what the devil did to trick Eve in the garden of Eden? In Genesis 3:3 . You can be like God! NO There is nothing new under the sun…………………
3rd Fact Joseph Smith said “He had a visit from God when he was the age of 14, then again a year later and again at the age of 16 to find the one true religion!!!
But at the age of 17 He get’s arrested for lying to people that he could look into a hat at a crystal rock and tell people where to find Gold… hidden across the land IF- they paid him money. “Yes money” Yes He went to jail!! For it too!
Then years later…… Joseph Smith said “this is the same way that he wrote the book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and the Doctrine and Covenants “by looking at a crystal rock in a hat and wrote the book of Mormon..!
Wow! now this sounds more like a snake oil salesmen then a man of God….!
So you need to think about Mormonism before you join. I’m asking you to Read the “Bible it’s - 6000 years old. The book of Mormon is 150 year’s old. You make the choice.
Read the Bible 1st. and you won’t make the same mistake as millions of Mormons. Who, were led to believe in these false teachings. Just Look this stuff up for yourself in the Bible Isaiah 43:10- 44:6 to 8 - 44:24- 45:5 to 6 - 45:21 to 22 and 46: 9…… (all in Isaiah.)
Thanks you for your time……... “But the truth shall set you free!!!

The reason we do not need to be baptized is because Jesus is our substitute and already did it for us perfectly. Think about it. Why did Jesus ask to be baptized? He did not need to but rather He did it for us. Jesus did it all for us. Believers are covered. So whatever LDS claim they have we have too. If LDS claim to have the priesthood, we do too. Our substitute Jesus Christ has the priesthood.
The difference is that LDS work for the priesthood they already have. Christians have it through our substitute Jesus and we did not have to go through all the red tape.
LDS are slaves to the works Jesus already did. Anything Mormons think I am missing is found in Jesus Christ.
That is the Good News of Jesus. That is the Gospel.

I wasn't defending it at all. Notice how "grace" is lowercase when pertaining to mormonism. Read some of my other comments on this video for more context. "Obedience is as important to mormons as Grace is to Christians" is another way to say it. They think that their works are really important and valuable.
As far as Joseph Smith being a con man/fraud, that is simply not true. He is a "false prophet", something very different. A con-man is a man who cheats or tricks someone by means of a confidence game, and a fraud is a wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in (mainly) financial gain. These do not suffice to what was going on. False prophets tend to have authority from negative sources on a deep spiritual level, which generally has an uncapped potential to bind a soul. Take for example a false idol. These things are not just graven images with no spiritual power, these are very powerful objects, which is why they are so dangerous. Going back to con-man vs false prophets, take for example a magic shop that was a con, and a magic shop that was "real". The con man shop wouldn't last long, since customers would soon realize that the "magic fluid" sold was simply water mixed with sugar, or something to that sort, and was a hoax. But now imagine a magic shop that sold magic fluid that had serious spiritual effects. They are both false, but the ladder has spiritual power to back it up, and would be more popular because of it. The Bible warned about powerful false prophets in Matthew 24:24, that they could be so powerful that could deceive even the elect. When Joseph Smith died, no one knew what to do. Some took it upon themselves to make their own reformation of the church and keep it going (there exists many divisions of the church to this day). One prominent figure, Brigham Young, also wanted to keep the church going. He decided to become the new prophet of the church. On his first speech to a large group of people, his face shape-shifted to Joseph Smith's face during most his talk, and almost everyone in the crowd saw it. This is how they knew Brigham Young was a "true prophet". Creepy....

Pastor Jeff, I wanted to say thank you for your commitment for the truth and sharing the word with the LDS community. I was once in Mormonism, back in the early 1980's ~ 2000's and can affirm everything you have said about the teachings of Mormonism is true.
It is mind boggling to me how so many current LDS members today try and refute these facts, even though it is on their very own org website, gospel topic essays, church manuals, etc. I continue to learn and grow in the true word (The Bible alone) and have been sharing the truth with other LDS members, but with great resistance (no surprise) and have come to realize, most of the LDS members do not want to know the truth.
Many are happy and fine with whatever the Mormon prophets and leaders tell them to believe, how to think, and many who profess to be "truth seekers" are far from it. It doesn't matter what evidence is presented to them, what can be factually proven, they seem to have an answer for everything, to "hand waive" away these truths with cunning word play, misdirection, and deception.
All I can do is ask for everyone to pray for all our Mormon brothers and sisters, that they might find the truth, that the Holy Spirit would open their eyes, free their minds to discern the truth and come out of this great deception. I am truly distressed and concerned with many good hearted Mormons I have known that have died over the past many years, and often wonder if there was any chance they might have been saved, for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ is great, but I fear for them, because they believed in a works based salvation, of Exaltation, thinking they to could become a God one day.
I think this is why it is so hard for many to leave the LDS faith, because to do so would mean their way of thinking, their lives and faith as they knew it, was all wrong all this time, and the thought of losing loved ones to Hell because of it is something most cannot even accept.
I truly wish that those who were deceived, would have an opportunity to be redeemed to the Biblical Christ at the great white throne judgement... and who knows what will truly happen, for we cannot discern the mind of God, but I know he has great mercy and love for all.

What are you doing in church? Worshiping God? Watching others entertain you? Catching up with your friends? Is your church preaching the word of God in demonstration of the spirit and in power?
I Cor. 2:4 And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom [using clever rhetoric], but [they were delivered] in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit [operating through me] and of [His] power [stirring the minds of the listeners and persuading them],
Is the word of God multiplying? Is Jesus Christ their greatest treasure?
Are you listening to sermons that 1. make you feel uplifted 2. are about your needs 3. help you know God 4. talk about your favorite issues in life. (#3 is the correct answer)
Do you sing songs that 1. have a tune that you enjoy 2. exalt God with the highest and clearest descriptions of Him 3. stir your emotions
Are you a good person? Are you good enough to get into heaven?

I got a really good reason why I would never want to be a Protestant. I'd be more likely to become a Catholic and this is a great example to show people where Jesus himself was confronted by the Scholars and critics of his time. "Thus saith Moses" "the scriptures say that" "The law sayeth" and Jesus gave them a simple answer and moved on. Jesus was NEVER about destroying the faith of another person. He knew the message he had to share, but it were his critics that approached him, he didn't approach them, and certainly not in the manner this guy did. It's not an attempt to SAVE THE MORMONS, it's an attempt to STOP THE MORMONS. Bill Wittes green book doesn't get you far. All the writings out there for anyone to read and analyze. It's a tough for those who pass on, there will be another side, but it won't appear as you think it will and religious sects will remain to continue to rally to their cause. Missionaries of all faiths remain, but our death and automatic ascention into Heaven isn't exactly what we'll see. I believe Peter knew what he was talking about. But this, ladies and gentlemen, is what was taking place in the Synagogues in Jesus time, and the approaches on the streets Jesus faced daily. Do you research rather than taking an ignorant man's word for it. The devil has no power to the Priesthood. To watch a woman hear she has cancer, and to watch an Elder approach her and, not pray over her, but watch a blessing pronounced on her head and a short time later she returns to explain the doctors couldn't explain it, that it was gone. Well, tell me the devil can do that? He may be able to do magic tricks and turn a staff into a snake, but he's not going to do God's work. He wouldn't. Do your research, he's talking like he thinks he knows, but he doesn't. Anyone, on with my others points more specific to his claims:
It sounds like Modalism still, dude. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and we beheld his glory. It sounds like its one God, that then came down to dwell with man in the flesh, how is that not Modalism and how do you draw that conclusion out to be that God is thus three persons but still God? Also, where does it say Jesus was a polygamist? Thats not in my King James Bible, where is it in yours? I cant find it. I read that Abraham was a polygamist. That Jacob later named Israel was a polygamist. That King David, who was so favored of God, was a polygamist, even Nathan approached King David and speaking for God as his prophet said "all of these wives and concubines I THE LORD HATH GIVEN THEE" and then he goes on about Uriah and states that Bathsheba he disnt give and was unauthorized by God. The New Testament doesnt speak of Polygamy but I havent seen anything that says it didn't exist or was practiced. We only see that they brought the adulterous woman to Jesus and claimed she'd been caught in adultey, thats not polygamy, thats adultery, thats an unsanctioned union not put into place by the power and will of God, so, show me where it says you cant have a polygamist marriage in the New Testament? Odds are, youre going to find a verse that says you shouldnt be in an adulterous relationship or a pre-marital relationship. But, Ill take a non-polygamous relationship reference ans give you that. Maybe it wasnt practiced in New Testament times, I think thats a Puritan or Creedal decree, because Islam consists of stories told by Mohammed, he was illerate and blantantly took stories from Christianity and Judaism but I dont have enough characters for that, and Islam....... Practices Polygamy and believe they have 40 virgins waiting for them for dying heroicly as a martyer. Had to have come from somewhere, but I digress, I havent seen anything that says Jesus practiced polygamy.
Funny you should mention it. Who is talking in the creation of the earth? Its a conversation. "Let us make man in our likeness and in our image, right?" So, how is that different than the Latter-day Saint perspective? The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are present, whats problem? Ia not God The Father God and seperate and distinct? Is Jehovah not there, separate and distinct? Is the Holy Spirit not present separate and distinct?
So, who is The Father? Is He just called the Father? Who is the Holy Spirit? Why is Jesus the only one with a name? Well, if God the Father is Jehovah, why does Jesus identify himself to the accusing scholars that he is I AM...... But in the Hebrew Old Testament it says: "And in the beginning Elohim created hashomayim and harretz." Joseph Smith later has a conversation with a Jewish Rabbi, as the story goes, where they discuss Genesis 1:1. Joseph explains what Elohim means and the Rabbi explains, in essense, you would be correct, but if I admit to that, I would then be wrong. So, by your explanation, you're still describing the Modalism to say there wasnt a council of the Gods. Is The Father NOT God and 100% God? Is Jesus not a God and 100% God? Is the Holy Spirit not 100% God? And theyre all seperate persons but in one? How is there not a council of the Gods? El being the Chief God? It NEVER says ANYWHERE (All if y'all look it up in LDS scripture, but I dont think you can do that because he wont let you) it doesnt say ANYWHERE in the LDS standard works that there were any other Gods present, other than The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, it doesnt even say by name the Son and Holy Spirit were present, it just says God, but I guess God likes to talk to himself?
The presence of a goddess would make sense when man is discussed being made in their like and image to include female, that makes logical sense, but now youre talking about Hewbrew belief before King Josiah of Shadaiah meaning breasts or nuture, life giver, that The Almighty refers too in certain situations in the Old Testament. So, its possible, looking to older scholarly texts, sure, but my Bible speaks nothing of it and neither does anything Joseph Smith stated. In fact, it was 2004 when The DiVinci Code came out that Catholics started to talk about the marriage feast and it was the one being married that supplied the wine. It wasnt Mary and Joseph's wedding or theyd been in a fornicative relationship for a LONG time, so Jesus possibly provided the wine at his own wedding feast. Who was the first to see Jesus ar his tomb when he was resurrected? Wasnt his mother, it was Mary Magdeline. Who was at his feet at the base of the cross? Mary Magdeline. But, theres nothing written ANYWHERE that says Jesus was a polygamist AND if youre implying that if Jesus was a polygamist and thus God is a polygamist, then it still sounds like you're subscribing to Modalism, not the doctrine of the Trinity as your teaching it, because Jesus would have to be his own person, to be polygamist or youd be saying because Jesus had polygamist relationships in his earthlife, then so would the Father, but your outline suggests that The Father is his own person, the Son is His own person, and the Holy Spirit would be his owj person. NOW, how is that accusation any different then saying: Jesus is a resurrected being, cause you believe he was resurrected, right? That he took on immortal flesh? By your same logic, dude, if Jesus has a resurrected body of flesh and bone then therefore?????? Now, take that and apply it to John 4:24, and what do you get? Yall hold that scripture incredibly dear in the Godhead vs Trinity debate, but you seem to think thats not the case, therefore, I would argue you side with the case for Modalism or Oneness, but that doesnt fit either. And youre rebuttal is? "Well, we cant comprehend God, its beyond our understanding", right? But then, Proverbs 9:10, right?
Youre arguement is that The Trinity says God is three persons but one God, but the way your describing Mormon Theology in your own language is commicating your a Modalisctic Christian, a Onenness Christian with the water can become ice and the ice in the hear can turn to vapor. Listen to how you explain things and notice your own language. I dont think what you said about Latter-day Saints stealing your wording holds any water. The Godhead for Latter-day Saints is that God is a personage, Jesus is a personage, and the Holy Spirit is a personage, all separate and distict but one in mind and purpose. They dont assimilate together and break off as they feel, but their oneness is in mind and purpose. They wont disagree with each other, they have the same end goal, the Son will testify of the Father and the Holy Spirit will testify of the Father and the Son. Thats their oneness. The Son is a God, but is subservient to the Father, but I dont have enough characters for that discussion. You didnt even explain your issues in LDS terminology and logic, you used "Trinitarian" lingo to explain your understanding of LDS doctrine, youre a Modalist, man.
And again, NONE of the scriptures say Jesus was married, we'd like to think so, according to the Plan of Salvation it would make sense, but its not written and thus not doctrine, just like the Father is not doctrine and nothing is said that he has multiple wives.
But yeah, I see youre using Bill Wittes book from the late 70s or 80s, get new reference material

What is so sad to see is Mormonism that claims the Bible is corrupted and has lost truths, they use many of these same passages in an attempt to elevate their religious beliefs. The very passages that Paul warns us about "another doctrine" we see Mormonism use these same passages to prove their doctrine, and to try and claim Christianity is in error, for the Bible was corrupted.

Let others believe what they wanna believe, that’s one right we have in this country. Stop messing with other people beliefs, and if you consider yourself a true Christian , practice the true gospel of Jesus Christ , which is charity and love. Put the Bible on the side for a moment and get to help others instead of bringing to them confusion or making them doubt on what they believe.

To have forgiveness of sin and God’s gift of eternal life in the presence of God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is through repentance, faith and trust in Jesus Christ only and not through any church. The Mormon Church and temples are not needed, unless you feel like paying them 10% of your total income so you may participate in their temple rituals, which include, Masonic type handshakes, and underwear with sewn in Masonic symbols. All so you may PRETEND that someday you maybe, perhaps, might, possibly become a Mormon polygamist exalted man god or a goddess wife to your polygamist god husband.
As it is written, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.” (Romans 6:23)
Jesus said, “…know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

No one should force somebody to join their church or ask someone to leave another church, I know mormons don't. Also if you do not agree with their beliefs, is simple move on, it is obvious that LDS beliefs do not suit your beliefs. My perspective is simple, believe what you wanna believe, and respect what others believe, how hard is that? Why worry about mormons or other religions, live your religion ( If you belong to any)according to what your conscience tells you.

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that *ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.* For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Jude 1: 3-4)

You have been leaving out/misquoting what the third articles of faith has been saying recently. Here is the full quote.
"We believe that through the Atonement of Christ all
mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the
    gospel."
The way I remember it is by thinking about the "through" and the "by" ... "We believe that we are saved... BY obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel." Remembering also that it's "through" something good "the Atonement". It's probably a little unethical to leave out the "through the atonement of christ" part, but if you are going to do it (which you did in the video), then at least say "By" and not "through" since it's closer to how it reads. Ultimately though regardless, if you are going to be saved through something by something, then the thing you are saved by you are also saved through.
Corrections like this only benefit everyone, as I am sure you would agree with.

3rd Article of faith. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
2nd Nephi 25:23 for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
Moroni 10:32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you,
D&C 25:15 Keep the commandments continually, and a crown of righteousness thou shalt receive. And except thou do this, where I am you cannot come.
That is a gospel of death. There will be no man in your Celestial kingdom.
Read the third article of faith it says "We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel." You are saved only if you are obedient to the laws and ordnances of the Mormon gospel. James 2:10 says For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. If you put yourself under the curse of the law you have to complete it perfectly and if you stumble in one point then you are guilty of all.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. ( Galatians 3:12)
Your 3 article of faith is a curse to you.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."So much for your unbiblical, ungodly "3rd Article of faith."

    • @shellback1984

djjammaster that's true, no amount of works can repay what Christ has done for us but one would surely be counted as a hypocrite if one professed to believe in Christ's words but made no effort or chose not to obey them. God is not a lier - if one chooses to be reborn but but make no effort to conform to become a new man and refuses to repent and make that change of heart then you have not allowed Christ's Grace to do his work. After all, no amount of works can save us but our works in this life will be recorded and will stand as a judgment for or against us if they good or evil works. If one says says they believe but continue to do evil works then they condemn themselves, because their life stands as a testimony against themselves. Jails are full of people who say they believe but many push God aside when they get released and go back to their old ways. So Grace will not save you if you continue to live a life of sin unless one chooses to repent and live a Christ like life.

Clay Pendleton you said "So Grace will not save you if you continue to live a life of sin unless one chooses to repent and live a Christ like life."
      That's impossible no man can live like Christ because Romans 3 says, As it is written: There is none who does good, no, not one They have together become unprofitable; They have all turned aside; There is none who seeks after God. There is none who understands; “There is none righteous, no, not one;
      Philippians 3:9
and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; Righteousness is not of yourself its from God you are claiming it to yourself when in fact we are retches and men of unclean lips and there is absolutely nothing good in in us. Nothing, don't kid yourself. Read this absolute lie from Moroni 10:32
Moroni 10:32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you,
You claim God is not a liar yet the God of Mormon tells people to lie.

    • @shellback1984
      @shellback1984 7 лет назад +1

Darin Hibbert if it was totally impossible to be like Christ - and I say like, for that does not mean we will obtain perfection in this life but it means to submit oneself to the will of the father - where the commandments lie - to love the lord with all thy heart, might, mind and strength and second to love thy neighbor as thyself. If one does this then they are striving to be Christ like. As it says in Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. If Christ said that then it's not impossible as long as we submit our will to the father, in repenting and go through the changing process, line upon line and precept upon precept, as best as a moral man can obtain perfection. When we do this then Christ's atonement will complete us and make us sanctified. But if we say that we believe and choose not to exercise ourselves in the gospel of Christ by repenting and striving to change our hearts then their is no promises in his grace because we have chosen not to develop faith and live his commandments. Believing in Christ is one thing but living it is another.

just because David and Solomon practiced polygamy doesn't mean God approved it or commanded it. God never commanded Abraham and Sarah to take Hagar, this was an Egyptian custom, it was lack of faith on Thier part. the prophets never practiced ploygamy. Deuteronomy 17:17 forbids it. *All men, everywhere, must repent:* “He is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him . . . . I say unto you that ye must repent and be born again; for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness.”
“Thou also knowest concerning the covenants of the Lord unto the house of Israel; and thou also hast heard that whoso repenteth not must perish.”
“But, behold, all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people shall dwell safely in the Holy One of Israel if it so be that they will repent.”
“And the days of the children of men were prolonged, according to the will of God, that they might repent while in the flesh; wherefore, their state became a state of probation, and their time was lengthened, according to the commandments which the Lord God gave unto the children of men. For he gave commandment that all men must repent; for he showed unto all men that they were lost, because of the transgression of their parents.”
“And he commandeth all men that they must repent, and be baptized in his name, having perfect faith in the Holy One of Israel, or they cannot be saved in the kingdom of God.
“And if they will not repent and believe in his name, and be baptized in his name, and endure to the end, they must be damned; for the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has spoken it.”
“For behold, I say unto you that as many of the Gentiles as will repent are the covenant people of the Lord; and as many of the Jews as will not repent shall be cast off; for the Lord covenanteth with none save it be with them that repent and believe in his Son, who is the Holy One of Israel.”
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I beseech of you in words of soberness that ye would repent, and come with full purpose of heart, and cleave unto God as he cleaveth unto you. And while his arm of mercy is extended towards you in the light of the day, harden not your hearts.”
“O then, my beloved brethren, repent ye, and enter in at the strait gate and continue in the way which is narrow until ye shall obtain eternal life.”
“And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.”
“And now, ought ye not to tremble and repent of your sins, and remember that only in and through Christ ye can be saved?”
“Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me.”
All these verses and more are in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon truly is a testimony of Jesus Christ and has been brought forth by the power of God in these latter days. Anyone who believes these words from the Book of Mormon (and I know these words are true) should contact the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to speak with the missionaries and find out for themselves that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in these latter days.

Anthony Frank sure, those pasages might nmbe ok, but what about moroni 10:32 & 2 nephi 25:23? What about the countless contradictions to the law of moses? What about doctrines and covenants which throws out of the window the idea that is all throughout the bible about *One* God in existance, eternal, always having been God, also 1 with the Son, throws out of the window that we are just creatures and elevates us to The race of Gods?
Look brother, Satan is crafty, let me quote some genesis here:
      Genesis 3:1-5
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of *ANY* tree in the garden'?" And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, *and you will be like God* , knowing good and evil."
In the opening line, Satan, mixes truth are lie, because its truth that God didnt say "You shall not eat of ANY tree in the garden" so Eve could have agreed with the Devil, but the way the Devil presented it, if she had agreed, He would have say that then God Doesnt prohibit them from eating said fruit, eves sees right through it, and she replies what God *actually* said.
Satan's last tastic, is saying "Oh, God is bluffing" and his explanation is that God is smoewhat afraid, because humans can become like Him!, which is nonesense, God prohibited said fruit because evil and sin and death would be unleashed upon the face of the earth, and we would drift appart from Him, not because we would be like Him
As you see, the Devil's tactic were to first mix truth and lie in a decietful manner (the Book of Mormon contains many turths, but also many lies and contradictions, just like Satan's first tactic) and secondly, appeals to human pride, trying to make us want to be like God, and giving us a phony way to be like God, which is the doctrine of exaltation.
Mormonism, is nothing more than the first 2 lies of the devil blown to a much greater scale.

      @djjammaster 7 лет назад +6

We do good works BECAUSE we are saved, not to BE saved. If we are saved, we will be faithful in doing the works of the Lord. Catholics, Mormons, Muslims and every other religion are all about the works. Not one single work has any effect on one's salvation.1 Corinthians 3:12-15 - "Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw- each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire." This will happen at the Bema (Judgment) Seat of Christ. If a believer did works out of wrong motives, selfish motives, those works will be burned up. If they were truly for Christ, they will result in reward. Either way, the person is already saved without those works. All religions that do not teach Jesus as God in the flesh who is the ONLY way of salvation, will not get to the Bema Seat. They will only get to the Great White Throne judgment of unbelievers because their focus was the works, not salvation through Jesus Christ.

calvinists are NOT christians ... stop giving them a pass.
calvinists believe god created all things, and controls all things, predetermined all things,
and made all things exactly the way they are.
... thus god also created evil.
therefore since calvinists believe god created evil.
they are blaspheming against the holy spirit ... the only unforgivable sin.
calvinists also believe the only people who will be saved have been predetermined by god.
and since calvinists believe god predetermined who will be saved ... they have removed free will - the gift of god to humans, and removed jesus from the equation.
... and of course ... calvinists are arrogant enough to believe they are some of the predetermined to be saved ( without a shred of evidence) ... despite the fact jesus claimed he came to save all mankind.
      1 timothy 2:3-6
      3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
      5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
in fact ... in that respect calvinists are just like muslims.
since god (according to calvinists) has already determined who will be saved ... (and who will not be saved) ... those who will be saved do not need christ and those who will not be saved cannot come to christ.
thus calvists do not preach the gospel.
      thus calvinists are not christians.
mormons do not believe god created evil.
mormons believe god gave every human free will.
mormons believe everyone can be saved,
because god sent jesus to take the sins of every human upon himself.
and therefor all humans who accepts christ's sacrifice can be saved.
mormons are more christian than calvinists.

Bree Wixom The Mormon faith is in direct contradiction of the Bible. Doing good deeds and helping others is a great thing, however outside of the covering of Jesus Christ it is eternally worthless. Jesus died to set us free from religious systems and man made traditions. Yet this is what the Mormon faith does. I know mormons and they are very nice people, but the Bible and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is sufficient. Adding onto it is disrespectful to Jesus, saying that he is not enough. Jesus has set me free from depression and addictions, he is all powerful and all that we need. God bless you and please read the Bible and understand that there is a Truth with a capital T. If I wanted to change the gospel I could do exactly what Joseph Smith did today and tell you to read my revelation and pray. That does not make it true nor God's will. Please understand this is not an attack on you, I really care about you and other mormons and desire to see you receive the freedom Christ died to give.

Here is a way to find the correct church on earth today.
THERE IS only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth”
What does this mean? It does not mean that other churches do not have some truth, for certainly they do. It does not mean that other churches do not render good, for they render much good. What it does mean is that this is the only church that has all the truth that has been revealed thus far in this dispensation-the only church that has the ordinances necessary for exaltation and the only church that has the priesthood of God to perform those ordinances with divine validity.
Christ built a home to best accommodate the spiritual needs of His children. It was called His Church. The spiritual blueprint for this Church can be found in the New Testament.
If one desired to discover Christ’s Church today, he would want to match the spiritual blueprint found in the New Testament against every Christian church in the world until he discovered a church that matched the blueprint-organization for organization, teaching for teaching, ordinance for ordinance, fruit for fruit, and revelation for revelation. In doing so, he might find some churches that had some similarities-a teaching or two that overlapped, an ordinance that is the same, some offices that bear common names-but he will only find one church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that matches the blueprint in every material respect. Now I would like to put that assertion to the test.
Let us turn to the first page of the blueprint and discover what was the “Organization” of Christ’s Church as revealed therein. First, Christ’s Church was founded on apostles and prophets. When Paul was writing to some new members of the Church, he said that they were now “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone” (Ephesians 2:20
When one Apostle, such as Judas, died and a portion of the foundation was “chipped away,” the other 11 Apostles gathered together and chose a successor so that the foundation would be whole again (see Acts 1:22-25). the Apostles were critical to keeping the doctrine pure.
In order to assist the Savior and His Apostles in preaching the gospel to the world, the Savior chose other men, called Seventy, to prepare the way. We read of these Seventy in Luke, chapter 10. Do you know of a church today that matches this -that has the office of Seventy?
The blueprint of the New Testament reveals other officers that constituted part of the organization of Christ’s Church: bishops (see 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1:7); elders (see Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5); deacons (see Philippians 1:1); evangelists (see Ephesians 4:11), meaning patriarchs1; and pastors (see Ephesians 4:11), meaning such men as bishops and stake presidents who preside over a flock.2
What was the name of the church organized by Christ? If we are baptized in the name of Christ, if we pray in the name of Christ, if we are saved in the name of Christ, and if He is the founder and chief cornerstone of His Church, what would you expect the name of His Church to be? The Church of Jesus Christ.
What were the “Teachings” of Christ’s Church? Let us examine a few:
Is God solely a spirit, or does He also have a body of flesh and bones? What does the Bible teach?
After Christ’s Resurrection, He appeared to His disciples, who mistakenly thought He was a spirit (see Luke 24:37). To correct their misimpression, He said, “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” (Luke 24:3
Are God and Jesus the same Being, as taught by much of the Christian world, or two separate Beings? What does the Bible say?
The number of references in the Bible to the separate identity and separate roles of the Father and Son is staggering. In the Garden of Gethsemane, recognizing the excruciating pain that was yet to be His, the Savior declared, “Not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42). This is the grandest act of submission the world has ever known. But what submission would there have been if there was no other Being to whom He could submit-if He and the Father were one and the same Being? Why does the Savior pray to the Father or cry out, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Mark 15:34). How could He be forsaken if there was no separate Being to forsake Him? How did Stephen see Jesus standing on the right hand of God if They are not two persons (see Acts 7:55-56)?
Are God and Jesus the same Being, as taught by much of the Christian world, or two separate Beings? What does the Bible say?

How did Stephen see Jesus standing on the right hand of God if They are not two persons (see Acts 7:55-56)?
Peter wrote, “For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit” (1 Peter 4:6)
Are there three heavens or one heaven? For years the Christian world has taught there is one heaven and one hell,
Paul taught, “There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars” (1 Corinthians 15:41). Paul subsequently confirmed the truth of this three-tiered heaven when he recounted the vision of a man “caught up to the third heaven” (2 Corinthians 12:2). Could there be a third heaven if there was no second or first heaven?
    Is baptism essential for salvation?
    After Christ set the example by being baptized, He declared in unequivocal terms, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5; italics added). Peter taught similarly, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38;
Is baptism to be done by sprinkling, pouring, or immersion? The blueprint gives at least four evidences that baptism is to be done by immersion:
First, the Savior, our great Exemplar, came up “straightway out of the water” (Matthew 3:16), indicating He must have first gone down into the water.
Second, John the Baptist “was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there” (John 3:23; italics added). Why would he travel to a place of “much water” if sprinkling or pouring were accepted modes of baptism?
Third, Paul tells us that baptism is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (see Romans 6:3-5). As the new convert stands in the waters of baptism, he represents the old man about to die. As he is immersed in the water, his sins are “buried” and forgiven by the symbolic cleansing power of the water. Then, as he rises from the water, he stands as a representative of the new or resurrected man in Jesus Christ. All of that symbolism underlying baptism is consistent with baptism by immersion, but it is lost-totally lost-with sprinkling and pouring. And fourth, the Greek word from which baptism is translated means to dip or plunge in the water.
Christ’s Church records many accounts of angels and visions. Some people look with skepticism today at a church that claims angels and visions, but in so doing forget that angels and visions were a critical part of Christ’s original Church: the angel announcing the birth of Christ to Mary; the angels coming to Peter, James, and John on the Mount of Transfiguration; the angel releasing Peter and John from prison; the angel speaking to Cornelius; the angel warning Paul of the impending shipwreck; the angel coming to John the Revelator; Stephen’s vision of the Father and the Son; John’s vision of the last days; and many more.
It was a missionary church-the Apostles being commanded to “go ye therefore, and teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19). What church has over 80,000 missionaries fulfilling that command and bearing the fruit of doing so.
Christ established His Church on earth, reveals it had a link to heaven-namely, “Divine Revelation.” Without this link the Church would be no more than a man-driven organization governed by the powers of reason. The prophet Amos declared, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). Paul confirmed that revelation was an integral part of the Church and was meant to be ongoing, for he declared, “I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 12:1; see also Acts 1:2).
If one were to match the blueprint of Christ’s original Church against every church in the world today, he would find that point for point, organization for organization, teaching for teaching, ordinance for ordinance, fruit for fruit, and revelation for revelation, it will only match one-The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

@Kenzie K Actually I bought the magazine that has that information in it. So I did not steal it and i never said these were my words, i just agree with the author. If we go by what your implying then if you ever use a scripture from the Bible in a post or and email then you are a thief and it says a lot about your moral standards.

Sadly this guy has no idea what he is talking about. Paul was warning the saints of his day about the Gnostic's false teaching which are nothing like what Mormons believe. Nothing. He needs to go to a Christian college and learn what happened in early Christian times. He will learn Mormons are more like early Christians.

@tapir rider would you like to debate that? Tell us what "Holy Unction "means. Tell us who preformed it and why. Tell us what " Holy Orans" means. What was it for? Tell why the early Christians received a White Stone" at baptism. Tell us why St. John has 7 churches. Tell us why the sick woman touched Jesus to be healed. Tell us how the early Christians were married. Tell us why a man was naked in the garden of Gethsame when Jesus was arrested. Tell us what female deacons did? Tell us what Jesus taught for 40 days after his resurrection. Let's start there.

@tapir rider Can't answer my questions so you hide by asking questions? Thought so. Early Christians received a new name. See the Book of Revelations 2:17. In early Christian times the Bishop would take the new member into a special room to receive the priesthood, washed and anoint them, receive special white garments, and given a white stone with a new name which no one knew but the person who received it. White stones with a name on it have been found in early Christian graves. Garments with symbols on them that were L and V on them were found on mummies in early Christian graves in Egypt in the 1980s. So tell us why? No fair hiding by asking more questions. You see I was going to be a Catholic Priest and know many things which the early Christians practiced which were rejected by the Fifth Century. So are you going to answer my questions or hide again? How were early Christians washed and anointed? How were they married? What does "Holy Orans" mean? What does "Holy Unction" mean? Why were Adam and Eve given garments of skin? Let's see if you can answer these.

I was a Mormon and I left. The true Jesus and Christianity God won't allow you to build temples for the dead, while not allowing average living humans to enter, "Follow me, let the dead bury their dead", Matthew @. A true God and his true church won't be that greedy to use your precious tithing money to invest in real estates, stocks and bonds, ranches, etc .A true God and his true church won't allow rampant sexual abuse issue imbued in the whole organization while even worse than Catholic, it won't allow you to leave easily and covers up from atop. This religion is ungodly, it's a shame that it bears Jesus Christ's name. Maybe some pagan gods, like Moloch, better suit Mormonism's God. Yeah, and Mormonism is the first UFO cult, for that Kolob, Joseph Smith is the vanguard of UFO cults, more than 100 years earlier than Scientology.

Maxwell Kohler Sr there's a great debate about the KJV and why it's not the most accurate translation of the Bible. I can't recall the exact name of the video, but Dr. James White is one of the debaters. Interesting stuff. I use the NIV and find it accurate when compared to other versions.
