Thank you for bearing with Zenitsu annoyances, as many who aren't used to this type of over the top expressive character can be very put off by him. Knowing you 2 WERE newbies to the genre, and seeing how you've learned and embraced the tropes and sense of humor in anime, I had faith you would give him a chance. Happy to see you loving him, not being too annoyed with him, even before his inner OP bad@ssery was revealed. He's a sweet kid lol
Also, I've watched tons of reactors, and I believe you 2 were the only ones to ever notice Zenitsu kneeling w/flowers in front of Nezuko's box at the Wisteria flower crest house. Just endears ya to him even more. Great catch guys ;)
ps. Think of Zenitsu's super sense in the group(smelling, hearing, etc.) Now think about if you had that power your whole life... and there are bugs creeping, dangerous animals groowling... and then think about demons and monsters existing. If you could hear all those creepy and terrifying sounds very clearly as if they're near you every other second, I believe most people would be freaked out constantly lol.
By the way, You're supposed to watch the movie "Infinity Train" or "Mugen Train" Arc before season 2!
Just to let you know if you didnt know already the "lightning" from Zenitsu and the "water" from Tanjiros special attacks aint actually there, its just visuals

@@DakotaHoll thunder clap and flash is a quick dash attack that only goes on a straight line. in order for him to bounce from trees to reach the enemy, he needed to do the attacks 6 times hence 6fold.
The sixfold allows him to perform the move 6 times in a row without stopping

@@NotReal1y If you noticed that after he says "six fold", he vanished and he is literally like a moving lightning around the house and the 6th move was that jumping straight to the enemy. The 6 connected lightning drawings is like a recap of that move!
Some say Zenitsu is one of Ufotable’s favorite bcs they always make his scenes/entrances epic & wallpaper worthy 😂
He didn't get any power from the lightning just the hair. Right before he gets struck, he says that he has nothing to show for it, and his mentor says that's not true. Also, it's a typo, there are 6 lightning forms

It's cool to think the reason Zenitsu fights so well while unconscious is he's trained that one form so much he can literally do it in his sleep.
I think the reason why is because he doesn't feel fear when he is sleeping which enable him to actually fight, but that is a cool way to think about it
And it removes his anxiety. He could probably do it awake if he wasn't so scared
That and he has a good read on his surroundings while his eyes are closed because he still has his great hearing
@@ethanlynch9471 Yeah what I mean is (although the only reason he fights in his sleep is his fear) the reason he has the ABILITY to do it is because of his rigorous training. If that makes sense, idk how to word it.

the old guy isn't zenitsu's actual grandfather.... zenitsu just affectionately calls him gramps and that was one of the problems the other guy had with zenitsu
i thought it was very creative to have tanjiro ask what was that sound, did lightning just strike? after zenitsu's battle. because the breathing techniques in this show don't actually magically create the elements, the visuals are just there for us. but to have tanjiro acknowledge that he heard lightning strike just emphasizes how powerful the attack was.
That's not creative. It's cool, I guess, but this sort of thing's been done to death i.e. hearing a powerful attack from a distance.
@@bstnk Actually it is not the sound he made when he moves but it is the sound of the strike he landed on anything that he strikes (so hard that it produces a boom sound like thunder hence the name thunder breathing not lightning breathing). And thunder is sound not some electricity or lightning. Yeah you are right he moves so freaking fast but its not his move that produced the sound of thunder. It his strikes.
The author retconned that. They do actually have the elements show and stuff now.

Zenitsu is the most hilarious thing in the show. He has one shots as well. & the kaioken. You gotta love him
The old dude isn't actually his grandfather, he just calls him the cutesy equivalent to "old man" which is a very familiar way of address to an older man. Also I'm pretty sure the lightning that changes his hair is from Zenitsu. The clouds form and dissapate in record time, only striking while he is upset. The old guy seemed to realize it too, trying to calm him down before it got out of hand
He kept repeating the "Thunder breathing, first form..." part because he kept getting interrupted by the smaller spiders jumping him. He eventually got the space to actually fully set up. And it was worth it!
[NO SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT] One of my favourite episodes of season 1. Zenitsu, in my opinion, is as sympathetic a character as Tanjirou honestly, love him so much. Like I said in a previous comment, when Tanjirou does his moves, there's no actual 'water', it's just a visual representation of the style he uses - just so, when Zenitsu does his moves, there's no actual 'electricity' as it's a visual representation of his body powering up from the breathing technique. HOWEVER, because Zenitsu's body moves so fast, he causes a sonic boom, which everyone else can hear as thunder. F****** BADASS in my opinion!

It drives me up the wall hearing people mispronouncing names while listening to Japanese audio, like they're incapable of hearing how it's said.
and you two openly listen, want to get it right and 99% of the time do get it right. Nezuko - Nez-ko. 100% correct. PLEASE never change on this.
Peaches also have symbolism in various cultures. They represent happiness, longevity and honor. They can also represent victory and peace to come. They say if you eat peaches, it's a way to become immortal!
Thunderclap and Flash is basically a super fast Attack from point A to Point B. For example from one end of the room to the other as you saw it the first time. It's like an offensive Dash in one direction, like Tanjiros Water Wheel is a circular Attack around him. Sixfold therefore means changing direction 6 times, resulting in 6 "attacking Dashes" instead of just one. The Spider was so far away and in midair, so Zenitsu needed several dashes and directional changes to reach and kill the Demon - this Form doesn't have the range to go straight up 30 Meters. If you pause the Episode during his Attack, you're gonna see 6 connecting Lines starting with Zenitsu at the Ground and 6 Ricoshets all the Way up into the Air :)

Zenitsu is not related to the man... they literally showed how he helped Zenitsu out of his debt. So Zenitsu had to undergo training because of that. The other guy is not related to the man either. He and Zenitsu are just the old man's students. And the reason the old man told him to practice one thing multiple times is because Zenitsu can only learn the first form of thunder breathing. He can't learn the other five forms. It's also why the other student hates him.
Zenitsu himself even gave Tanjiro a very very fast explanation when they first met about how and why he was in the Final Selection and ended up becoming a member of the corps that had him explicitly say that he was helped out of debt and was forced to train by his helper XD
The reason Zenitsu changes is because when he feints he begins to sleepwalk and dream, and in his dreams he is brave, resolute and the cool hero.....
actually he doesn't really sleep it's just that in the next spoiler Zenitsu actually has a split personality and then he will continue to be conscious when fighting until the final episode
@@slow8878 No he's actually asleep....his split personality is the ideal that Zenitsu thinks it's a Dream and thus isn't afraid because he thinks it is a dream and thus he isn't at risk. This allows his bravery to overcome his cowardice.....
Fun fact, zenitsu is way weaker when he is sleeping but its the only way for him to overcome his incredible fear. So if he could fight awake hed be on a whole different level of speed and reaction

Btw, Zenitsu doesn't actually have lightning abilities. And breathing techniques aren't actually visible. The manga and anime show lightning, water, fire, etc when attacks are performed, but only for the aesthetic - not because Tanjiro has water powers or Zenitsu, lightng powers...
Actually, breathing techniques are actually visible for the characters and everyone who sees the breathing techniques being performed, but it's stated in the manga that the weaker you are at using your breathing technique the less it shows. The breathing techniques are visible but they are not physical, they are just illusions that are visible to the characters as well.

16:25 In fact, you've got season 2 and 3 left, not just one. The Mugen Train movie is an oficial season on its own, and later it got released episodically as well. Although I recommend to watch only the first episode and then watch the movie straight away. But after that you got another season out. And then of course the manga.

From episode 3 on is just like watching the movie for the most part, so I recommend to just do that. Creo que sabes español, por cierto, no sé si hace falta que te lo diga en inglés 🤣🤣

the lightning didn't give zenitsu any abilities his training made him that strong he just doesn't believe in himself when he is awake.
The subtitles are wrong when they say Thunder breathing has three forms, in japanese Zenitsu says "muttsu" meaning six where the translator probably heard "mittsu" which is three.
Yay, another video with my favorite reactors. I've watched reactions on every demon slayer episode but i still wait for every video you guys drop. I love how much effort and detail you put into your reactions. The fact that you guys theory craft and make inferences, and even keep a book to try to pronounce things correctly and understand vocabulary. It really shows a respect and interest for the subject matter, yet you are also emotionally connected and care about the characters! You guys are really good at this and I love your videos! Zenitsu didn’t get power from the lightning. He has the potential to summon lightening. Before he got struck, his sensei was about to warm him about being able summoning lightning and he did

Just to clarify one thing: Japanese people tend to call each other "uncle", "auntie", "grandpa", "grandma", "big sister", "younger brother", etc. This is acceptable when there is some intimacy or when the formality of a relationship is not being considered. That's why the mysterious boy who was scolding Zen'itsu said that he should respect the master. Zen'itsu is not the master's grandson. However, he considers him fondly, so he calls him "Grandpa". Perhaps this Japanese habit confuses many people at first, but over time you start to get used to it. The Japanese language has "politeness" as one of the main things. This habit I described is seen as unpolished and therefore, depending on the situation, can mean affection in positive cases or lack of consideration in negative cases. I hope I managed to clarify this. Well, some english speakers call other people "Bro" or "Brother" in a simmilar way, don't they? Japanese people just use it a lot...hahaha. In Brazil we also use words in the same way.
And about the peach: The peach, or momo (in japanese), is a not uncommon theme in Japanese culture. Perhaps the most well-known reference is in the story of Momo-taro (“Peach Taro”) who in one story was a little boy who popped out of a peach that an old childless woman fetched as it floated down the river. Momotaro then went on to fight evil with a band of animal comrades. A variant of the tale is that Momotaro was the offspring of an old couple who were magically restored to youth upon eating a peach, and who celebrated their rejuvenation in a nightlong session during which Momotaro was conceived. Since ancient times, peach trees have been much beloved in Japan not so much for their fruit, but for their exquisite blossom.
In my interpretation, Momotaro is sometimes seen these days as a rough-and-tumble hero, a clumsy hero. He is seen as an old-fashioned character, however, even with his ways, he is a true hero. Perhaps, and I'm forcing an interpretation here, Zen'itsu represents this hero who isn't "cool" at the first glance, but who nevertheless does heroic things. But obviously I could be completely wrong...hahaha
So probably there was some symbolism in that scene, but I don't know exactly what...hahaha

He literally learned that from his master, who was a former pillar. I assume he was the Lightning Pillar that is currently non-existent.
Fun fact: that guy in zenitsu's flashback had voiced reiner from aot. It's subtle but it got very evident the second he started yelling at zenitsu. Reminded me of that conversation reiner had with eren after he got captured in the giant forest scene in s2 ep9 when reiner had a mental breakdown and started yelling at eren. The amount of va from aot for this show quite surprising really.

the water and lightning are only metaphors for their sword styles: the thunder breathing is quick draw and water is fluid and adaptable sword technique.
An experienced ninja that has been in countles battles including the war, he should've already predicted a strong enemy would try to destroy his eye imo.

By the way, the sub were wrong when they said “thunder breathing as three forms” when it actually has six, since zenitsu said “roku” which means six in japanese.
I just realized that Zenitsu didn’t seem confused when he woke up after defeating that spider demon son thing. Either the author and anime directors forgot to have him react like he would have a couple of episodes ago, or it’s on purpose. Because if it was like with the tongue demon, he would have been freaking out like crazy. Waking up and finding himself suddenly on top of a house suspended high in the air, he has no idea where the spider demon went, and suddenly the poison is feeling so much worse. I half-expected him to start screaming his own ears off. But he didn’t, for some reason.
Also! Just to be sure, Sensei means teacher or master. I just had the feeling you didn’t know and thought that the old man’s name was Sensei from that jerk’s dialogue.
Also I like how Inosuke’s doing a thing where he’s pretending he’s fine because some animals, like cats, try to hide their pain so they don’t look vulnerable to predators.
Also at least Tanjiro can already smell that Zenitsu is strong. But it does suck that they still have yet to see him in action.
