Kyojuro's death was really devastating but I love that you both realized this could drive the boys to reach another level. The spirit that Kyojuro showed in his last moment would be carried along their journey. Set your heart ablaze will always be my favorite phrase.
@@Wickerrman yeah in all seriousness, memes aside, set your heart ablaze is genuinely an incredibly powerful message he sent. The Umai thing as a meme is goofy, but the warrior appreciating every meal as if it were his last is the unnoticed part of that whole shtick
fun fact the reason Rengoku says ‘Umai’ after every bite is that warriors of those times were not sure when they’ll die so Rengoku savors every bite and moment and is grateful for everyone and everything around him. a truly wonderful man he is
After watching thousands of time, I can't get over that fight, it's definitely my favourite fight of all time, i know the 2nd season animation is far good but the emotions on this fight is the best thing that makes it one in million to me!
Nah I prefer the 2nd fight cause "G" was actually desperate and knew it wasn't a One sided fight...if Akaza wanted he could of ended this fight before it even started.
A little clarification, Tanjiro's fire technique has not been refered to as of yet as a breathing technique. They've called it the hinokami kagura dance, so it's neither flame or fire breathing.
I dont know if you noticed but during the Rengoku and Akaza fight, their themes songs clash with one another which is such an awesome way of story telling. It's not just the characters dueling one another but also their theme songs dueling each other as well.
The worst part about the rengoku and akaza fight is that akaza wasnt even using half is strength to fight him... But they made us care about rengoku in only one movie id say that makes this movie even more impactful for the story
Something that makes Demon Slayer one of my favourite anime is the superb soundtracks! I remember my first time watching this movie and I let out a fangirl squeal at the 4-note motif that can be heard at 44:42. For those who don't know, this 4-note motif is known as "Dies Irae", originally composed by the ancient church to paint The Judgement Day through music. But in the 21st century, this motif is used to signal impending doom. It can be heard all over movies and games alike, such as the main theme of the horror movie "The Shining", the main theme of the horror game "Dead By Daylight", and when little Simba was being chased by hyenas in the animated version of "Lion King", to name a few. (Here at 44:42, you could even hear a church bell. The composers surely knew what they were doing!)
I’m so jealous of you, i think you had an amazing experience….the fact is I recently started watching anime and when it came out in theatre I didn’t know….still now i regret it.
Unless it was edited out, Ange holding it together toward the end of the move was so BOSS. Deserve a SUB from me just for that. Their reaction is by far the most authentic I've seen from most reactors, not too over the top, and the way they analyze and pick up on themes are expertly done. Keep up the awesome work!
The VA for Inosuke said in a radio program that Inosuke brought back the idea of him being “Lord Inosuke” from his dream. That’s why he started calling himself Inosuke-sama and Tanjiro and Zenitsu his minions.
The fact that Akaza was just toying with Rengoku, cuz he really didn't want to kill him. Sets a huge difference in power between Hashiras and upper moons. And Tanjiro in his current state hasn't even started to scratch that level.
@@kyroking9934 Akaza is much stronger and better fighter than Rengoku and we never actually see his full power for things that happen in future arcs. Akaza saw Rengoku's potential that's why he wanted to make him a demon. So he could have time to become stronger.
@@kyroking9934 guy never even used all his Destructive techniques against Rengoku, guy was toying with him until the last minutes of the fight before the sun came out
The demons(upper moons) are definetly supposed to be stronger than even hashiras. Akaza mentioned he killed several hashiras at least and there were no flame hashira's among them,so there's that.
@@nya69696 says exactly how many hashria he's killed? Nope. Just that he's killed some and a flame hashira hasn't been one. No need to spoil shit from the manga, the show will eventually get there.
The thing about rengoku's dream is that many people focus on the bad side of the dream, wich was his father not recognizing him. But in reality what made it a happy dream for him was to be for his brother and take care of him, that was his vision of being happy. And it matches his vision of life as well, even if you feel down or whatever keep going forward. It was a great character.
Thank you so much for sending this reaction as early as possible . And yes I ve seen Ange's point of view to small small thinks makes him guess everything right coming in future in season 2 you will see in the first episode .. LOVE YOUR REACTIONS :D
Upper Moon 3 means he’s the 3rd strongest demon, so I don’t think Rengoku not being able to take him out does much to diminish just how powerful he (Rengoku) is. I somehow still haven’t watched past this part in Demon Slayer, been putting it off for some reason but think I’ma start the 2nd half of S2 tomorrow.
Yes. For Rengoku able to hold on and keep fighting Akaza alone until sunrise shows how strong he is. If Akaza is unable to regenerate, he probably already be dead too.
@@TotallyNotQFQNR Really? I thought he be 4ᵀᴴ if you count Muzan… so doesn’t that meant Muzan count’s himself as #1? Ya know what, if he does then please don’t answer! The fight was gorgeous and they managed to make you care about Rengoku and his final moments in such a short amount of time because of the great personality and values he had. Great reaction! Excited to watch you head into the second half of the season!
A lot of people wouldn’t like akaza if they haven’t read the manga, he’s one of my favourite characters in all of demon slayer, akaza is a really well written character and villain but anyways won’t spoil anything but just can’t wait til they animate the infinity castle arc and those who haven’t read the manga will understand why i love him so much despite him killing Rengoku, a character i absolutely loved
I remember watching this movie and being so shocked at the writers for being able to make me sob over a character that I only knew for and hour. The characters in this series are phenomenal and have such great and unique personalities, I can’t wait for you to get into season 2 and the remaining seasons to come!❤
This movie was an emotional rollercoaster. And that final fight was legendary. This fight really puts into perspective how strong the Upper Moons are. Rengoku gave it his all and Akaza was mostly toying with him for the majority of the fight. He seemed more intent on having him join their side rather than actually beat him. And we only saw him start to get serious because the sun started to rise. But even against an opponent who seemed totally out of his league, Rengoku fought hard until the end. He set his heart ablaze and burned to ashes.
Actually, Rengoku won. He won because he fulfilled his mission even if it cost him his life. Akaza however may have "won" the fight but lost because he failed his mission-- that is to kill the hashira and the 3 demon slayers with him, especially the boy with the earrings.
@@loucarea43 Nope, Muzan even scolded him later because he was supposed to kill Tanjiro, he literally said out loud that Akaza didn't fulfill his mission. Rengoku accomplished his goal of protecting the people on the train

I don't know if it could explain what Ange was wondering about the way Rengoku died and his position, but an interesting small fact about his name and also the name of his last attack, Rengoku(煉獄) is the Japanese word for Purgatory: "the condition of purification or temporary punishment by which those who die in a state of grace are believed to be made ready for Heaven".

Rengoku killing two demons, this happened already in his dream. He was having good time with his three juniors. After the conductor checked their tickets and the lights went out once, everyone fell asleep. Rengoku talking with his mother is not a dream but a flashback.
1:07:55 To be true even for all I like Rengoku and how amazing he is, we would be really fucked up if he were the strongest Hashira of all. I don't know power levels. I didn't read the manga so right now I'm not that ahead of you thus you don't have to be afraid of spoilers from me talking about this but I really doubt he was the strongest. Maybe in terms of will power but not skill. Imagine Akaza being the 4th strongest demon, I guess, and Rengoku the strongest Hashira of them all and we having this result. Rengoku was amazing and really lived up to his name, but we would be still very fucked up.
@@kevint4673 True but still. I don't mean that maybe some Hashira could oneshot a Moon without effort. I don't know, I don't think so, but honestly it feels like Akaza was just playing around and Rengoku even had to sacrifice his life. I hope there is some Hashira that can stand up against him. Of course Rengoku did amazing and took the moral win but feels like he never stood a chance.
To go from DELICIOUS! Somewhat annoying until you know the meaning and the man, To Set your heart ablaze, Such a roller-coaster of emotions. Rengoku's speech is literally my favorite speech in film. Such a perfect speech about grieving and time. I tear up every time. I hope I can live up to Rengoku and set my heart ablaze whenever I face hardships. Such an idle. Great movie...and Tanjiro's little brother giving chase asking him not to leave them...chokes me up.
I'm so proud you guys enjoyed this anime and have come so far. PS - Another great guitar cover. As much as Akaza fight was good..... unfortunately to inform you, but he was just toying against Ren. :/ R.I.P Rengoku. Set your heart ablaze everyone. 🔥 💙
He may have been toying with him...until both his arms were stuck and he had to rip them off to get away. If Rengoku could regenerate like a demon, he would have won.
Not even his food....akaza was trying to keep rengoku in the vest shape he could so he could turn him into a demon.....Akaza is upper moon 3 for a reason
As other people put it regarding his dream. I believe he doesnt sugar coat anything and takes it at face value. The same way he woke up and saw how badly things had gotten, he literally said how ashamed he was WHILE SMILING, and then got to work. I think he dream was just him literally reliving his first day as hashira, telling his father about it and then having a heartfelt conversation with his little brother. I don't think it was changed in the slightest, i doubt rengoku did anything he regretted in his life ever. Also side note in the old samurai way it was tradition to declare delicious! after every meal because it may be your last meal so you should always cherish it. But being Rengoku he declares it after every single bite.
@@mastixencounter theres nothing to say that he did or didnt as far as i remember. But giving how his father acted exactly as i believe and what he said to tanjiro before his death i would bet that he did have that conversation.
Set your heart ablaze! God damnit. Rengoku is one of the best characters ever. From his voice acting, to his visual design, to his wonderful character. A true hero, persevering not only against monsters, but against a father that seemed to not care about his achievements. What a guy. Endless love and respect. To th end, he protected his juniors. Smiled, believed in them, and was the greatest example. I love him so much.
There was a introductry part too. In the beginning of the movie rengoku was eating bento (tiffin). In that introduction it tells who gave him the tiffin.
"every bite is precious to him." oh sweet summer child.. It is a real life thing. Japanese warriors were taught to appreciate every meal since it could be their last.

Kyojuro's death was really devastating but I love that you both realized this could drive the boys to reach another level. The spirit that Kyojuro showed in his last moment would be carried along their journey. Set your heart ablaze will always be my favorite phrase.
SET YOUR HEART ABLAZE🔥
It's a great phrase, but it just can't beat "Umai!"
@@Wickerrman yeah in all seriousness, memes aside, set your heart ablaze is genuinely an incredibly powerful message he sent. The Umai thing as a meme is goofy, but the warrior appreciating every meal as if it were his last is the unnoticed part of that whole shtick
Rengoku's death was so sad, it made even the crows cry
But seriously his death really hit me in the feels
From what the show tells us - its implied that his crow had been with him since the day he made it thru final selection
Mom: "As someone born with extraordinary power it is your duty to protect those who are weaker than you are."
Impressionable child: "Aight, bet."
fun fact the reason Rengoku says ‘Umai’ after every bite is that warriors of those times were not sure when they’ll die so Rengoku savors every bite and moment and is grateful for everyone and everything around him. a truly wonderful man he is
After watching thousands of time, I can't get over that fight, it's definitely my favourite fight of all time, i know the 2nd season animation is far good but the emotions on this fight is the best thing that makes it one in million to me!
We have to agree that season 2 is a frickin thriller
i like the fight against Rui most, why? The soundtrack on this fight was so perfect coordinated
Season 2 fight was insanely otherworldly, but this fight was more emotional
Nah I prefer the 2nd fight cause "G" was actually desperate and knew it wasn't a One sided fight...if Akaza wanted he could of ended this fight before it even started.
Most of this fight was anime only. Rengoku got his ass handed to him in the manga
Its very emotional to see that akaza didn't even use the term Blood Demon Art during his attacks.... He used his attacks as Destructive Death.
This is one of the only few times any media has made me cry. I can't believe how attached I got to Rengoku in the span of just 1 movie😭
SET YOUR HEART ABLAZE
RIP RENGOKU ❤🔥🔥🔥
A little clarification, Tanjiro's fire technique has not been refered to as of yet as a breathing technique. They've called it the hinokami kagura dance, so it's neither flame or fire breathing.
But they are getting close with guessing. 😌🤔
The soundtracks and theme songs in DS are some of the best I’ve heard in any media ...I even downloaded them just to listen for fun
@@alexkinyua8737 ooh same

The VA for Inosuke said in a radio program that Inosuke brought back the idea of him being “Lord Inosuke” from his dream. That’s why he started calling himself Inosuke-sama and Tanjiro and Zenitsu his minions.
The fact that Akaza was just toying with Rengoku, cuz he really didn't want to kill him. Sets a huge difference in power between Hashiras and upper moons. And Tanjiro in his current state hasn't even started to scratch that level.
Rengoku is a better fighter than akaza. Akaza only won bc he can regenerate
@@kyroking9934 Akaza is much stronger and better fighter than Rengoku and we never actually see his full power for things that happen in future arcs. Akaza saw Rengoku's potential that's why he wanted to make him a demon. So he could have time to become stronger.

3rd under muzan yeah
@@TotallyNotQFQNR Really? I thought he be 4ᵀᴴ if you count Muzan… so doesn’t that meant Muzan count’s himself as #1? Ya know what, if he does then please don’t answer! Lol I don’t wanna be spoiled about anything because I’ve only watched up to this point (the movie/first half of season 2) so far and still have gotten to watching anything further. If no one explained yet the reason Rengoku was yelling Umai(Delicious) was because Samurai would say the same because they treated their every meal as their last one!

Cmon bruh been a whole year since the movie came out and I always cry on rengokus last moments 😢
Correction: 2 years since it came out
This movie was an emotional rollercoaster.
This fight is mostly anime only though. In the manga he got his ass handed to him and couldn't do a single thing to akaza
One might say that Rengoku's mother basically said "With great power comes great responsibility." 🥲
RENGOKU WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAV CHARACTER IN DEMON SLAYER AND IT WILL NEVER CHANGE
Set your heart ablaze!! I miss Rengoku so much, I rarely cry but I still tear up to this movie.

Actually, Rengoku won. He won because he fulfilled his mission even if it cost him his life. Akaza however may have "won" the fight but lost because he failed his mission-- that is to kill the hashira and the 3 demon slayers with him, especially the boy with the earrings.
No akaza won and he didn't give a shit about tanjiro ect .. he just wanted to recruit kyojuro

Such a great reaction video guys ! This movie always gets me into tears.

Here are some Rengoku Fun Facts in honor of his death:
Kyojuro loved to watch sumo wrestling.
Kyojuro's favorite food was sweet potatoes. When eating them, he said "tasty/delicious" (旨うまい umai) each time he puts one in his mouth.
His favorite side dish was salt grilled bream.
Kyojuro was never allowed to have a pet because his father hated animals.
Kyojuro's very distant ancestor, as stated by Kyojuro, ate a lot of tempuras causing their descendants' and their own hair to become quite abnormal.
The Rengoku family has long since had a practice called "Kankagari" (觀かん篝かがり kankagari). For the duration of their pregnancies/gestation period, every seven days the wives will spend two hours gazing at a large flaming torch. This seems to be what causes the men in the family to have flame colored hair.
Kyojuro viewed the other Hashira as follows.
"She developed the poison! Amazing! She fights on despite her disadvantageous physique! She deserves my respect!" - Insect Hashira
"He's even more talented than I am when I was around his age! You're young, keep up the remarkable work!" - Mist Hashira
"His senses are sharp! If it's just his shoulder, elbow, and the joints in his wrist, then they're more flexible than Kanroji's!" - Serpent Hashira
"He's blessed with a huge physique!, I'm envious! Swinging those gigantic weapons so lightly is amazing! Fantastic muscular build!" - Stone Hashira
"His voice is so small! It's difficult to hear what he has to say! He's a hard worker!" - Water Hashira
"The trajectory of his swordsmanship is beautiful! I saw a shinobi for the first time ever! I'm deeply moved! He slightly has too many wives!" - Sound Hashira
"She utilizes her talent! The creativeness of her techniques is terrific as well! She's a cute junior!" - Love Hashira
"The man who pushed the Wind Breathing's techniques up to the next level! How admirable!" - Wind Hashira
Kyojuro's level of openness was ranked as 95%.
It was revealed in a Taisho Secret in Episode 28 that Rengoku doesn't have a Tsuguko because of how hard his training is and they end up running away.
Kyojuro is one of only 4 Hashira that use a normal Nichirin Katana. The other 3 are Giyu Tomioka, Muichiro Tokito, and Sanemi Shinazugawa.
In Kimetsu Academy, Kyojuro is a history teacher. Because of his passion of teaching and his love of history, he began hurling his students and starting cavalry battles during class. He's loved by his students, and nobody in this academy has terrible grades in history.
Rengoku killing two demons, this happened already in his dream. He was having good time with his three juniors. After the conductor checked their tickets and the lights went out once, everyone fell asleep.
Rengoku talking with his mother is not a dream but a flashback.
I watched this in theatre,i cried my eyes out,the music,the sad story😢😢😢
It's possible they have Hashira team up though! I haven't read manga either just offering another possibility
@@kevint4673 True but still. I don't mean that maybe some Hashira could oneshot a Moon without effort.
