I was nearly in one of the Lord of the Rings movies. I was sitting on a rock behind my house having a cuppa, watching a helicopter with this massive camera fly above the Waiau River across the road from my place. If only they had turned the camera slightly to the right, the movie scene would have changed from remote wilderness, to a highway and me on a rock. Fame is so intangible and fleeting, it passed me by, literally.

Milford Track generally you have to book way ahead, but you never know. As long as they make it to Milford Sound and/or Doubtful Sound and take a boat trip. You are right about Lake Marian (on the way to Milford Sound), it is definitely a hidden secret, worth the steep walk for sure, walked up there three times now, love it. It was weird, the last time was just after a major earthquake years back, and the water level had dropped dramatically - always wondered if the rocks had shifted and opened up a plug hole, wonder if Lake Marian is back up to normal levels? I was so hot I took a dip, water was ice cold, I was out in ten seconds!

Perhaps for this south island trip stretch them out to 30mins as i am sure other viewers would be thinking the same as me. Having been there some 20yrs ago & literally blown away & wishing we could have spent more time down there & slowed the pace down & ventured to more locations (travelled in hired Winnebago). I reckon you should make the pie shop sampling/rating as one of your must do in every vlog

Those little leaves look like the Southern Beech leaves, the remnants of decidious trees of Pangea, the landmass that contains South America, Australia and Antarctica. We in the land across the Ditch have very small pockets of those trees in Victoria and southern parts of NSW. These were nearly destroyed by 2019 Christmas fires. If it happens these trees are replaced by dry country trees ie eucalyptus.

OK. Natural history lesson - FYI. Those lovely flowers were introduced from the US and they are even the state flower of Texas ( Texas Blue Bottles). The Bee was a Bumble bee and it was doing what it was introduced ( from the UK) to do ( pollinate Red Clover ) Do I have to point out that the rabbit was an introduced species? I didn't think so. So is the Black Swan( from Oz). Thankfully, those wonderful tree's that gave Cody such a buzz are Antarctic Beeches - they are a southern hemisphere tree that occur in Australia, Southern South America and ( of course) New Zealand. Oh and Cody? James and the Giant Peach? Kudos on your range of info! Love Roald Dahl. Tia, did you really drag them to a wool shop????

You captured the magic of New Zealand. Some of the scenes are like something from a fairy tale. Photography, drone footage wonderful . Peter Jackson would be impressed I'm sure . 😊
