There are plenty of Cefiro's here in thailand that are not in any ditches' you can get a good one with either a rd25 det or a 1 or 2jz engine for less then 5k usd. So not all went to NZ.
ceffiro are cheap in china but for a reason. they are almost impossible to register. and if you modify one the police can take it from you on the spot (i have a friend in guangzhou, more leanient than other cities) and he had an is300 with single turbo 1jz engine, cops taken it on the spot and 10 years later he hasnt got it back... also exporting would be very hard tto legally export a ceffiro out of china PROPERLY without huge connections, and then it wouldnt be finalcially worth it
Never had the same problem, but have seen people use wide masking tape with what fluids were drained, as well as window marker/dobber on driver side windshield
Ouch. One thing I do to prevent that even when doing an oil change is to put the oil that's to go in under the hood so I can't close it without remembering. (Or if a project goes longer at least the fluids go on the passenger seat. The note on dashboard idea is pretty good, I think I wrote on masking tape doing an engine swap once, and stuck it to steering wheel.)
Reminds me of the time Ken Gushi did this at Irwindale in his nissan when he was 16, and during the drive home his trans blew up because no fluid. He still ran the whole event tho....
i've done the same thing bud, no worries shit happens. what i did after that was make a list of HAVE-TO's and tape it to the steering wheel with the keys in a ziplock bag. keeps me from starting it without seeing the list
Ouch. Keep your head up stuff happens. Maybe make yourself a standard checklist for every car that you can tick off to make sure you've checked all fluids and bolts before driving for the first time.
i feel for you, you seem like you're like me to never forget mistakes and overthinking, feels terrible! at least you'll never do the same mistake, and don't be too hard on yourself!
Ive been a mechanic for 25years, never forgot fluids ever, one thing i did notice is the younger generations always forgetting fluids and never checking them and breaking stuff left and right. and move your power steering res away from the turbo PLEASE LOL love your videos!!!!!!!!
Super inspiring to see simple mistakes made by big RUclipsrs, as silly as that may sound it keeps it relatable. Still learning personally, couldn’t put on new brakes or coil-overs on myself still but it’s a process and everyday I learn something new. Keep keeping on, and let’s get a signed numbered daikei (sp?) drift support poster going.
I did it one time in my wrx but the center diff screamed at me almost immediately but I'm still rocking the same trans years later and hopefully I don't break it now that I mention it
It can happen to anyone. Glad to see you looking on the brighter side. An Out of Service tag on the steering wheel with what is wrong/needs to be done may work next time. Hope it all goes smooth for the new transmission.
Sammit hey mistakes happen it happens to everyone so don't be so hard on yourself and when the R33.4 was out on track it sounded so sick and shredding the inside shots and outside shots drifting by perfection 🤙 sounded so good nothing beats the sound of an RB and sick job sliding in the rain and great vid by the way and as always keep up the great work 👍
Mate… learned my lesson on a customers car, service, did filters etc, went on tea break, came back started car. Engine seized almost immediately… ended up doing bottom end bearings (lucky they were super accessible too, pan out no issues) No idea if customer was ever told, not bad tho free bearing swap with your oil change. Needless to say I’m pretty hot on filling stuff back up now, tend to do it immediately. Stuff occurs bro
I have been having issues with automatic transmissions in 2 cars so far. Couple years a go i would't have thought that im going to start doing maintenance jobs for automatic trans. I am doing now tho. Changing solenoids for it now. This has 3 solenoids and im going to swap second main solenoidd next. Just waiting to get the part now. What a pain in as this job in front wheel drive car. This car is USA Accord 3 Litre v6 coupe. Nice car to cruise a round.
The 33.4 cameback strong man. You can tell how crazily controllable it is cause of how responsive the throttle is. As for the Cefiro, we have them in Malaysia too. Same thing as Australia cause it's really hard to find a clean one now. Edit: got to enjoy the crazy sounds from the outside cam view until boom. Well it happens especially when you're super excited so don't worry about it man 👍
If it's any consolation, I did the same thing with a brand new 1.5 way diff. I had to go back to the machine shop with my tail between my legs and ask them to rebuild it. That was a rough day. Lol car sounds great though. Can't wait for it to be back on the road.
that look like what came out of my old volvo. it was not forgotten it had a slow leak and it started to be hard to shift. magnet was all full and it had a smal bit of oil left. STIL WORKED tho. i remember they got distracted on a car in a garage i worked in. they managed to put the measured oil in two times. the oil foamed up and killed all the rod bearings and snapt a rod.
We usually have a rule in the garage I'm in, if a engine, transmission or diff are out of oil, the drain and/or fill port pluggs aint in it at all. So when you are filling the thing you first have to put back the plugs right before we start to fill it. Then we always know that there is no oil in it.
When I worked at a shop we put a little cone on the roof the says no oil so you know it needs a fluid before it's started or drove. Maybe look into those?
im glad Im not the only one, I didint change the oil in my engine for something thinner in these crazy cold days in Texas, and my e60 staved of oil and blew up....
ooh that hurt to watch! but like how you try to see the positive in everything anyway. it's the only way to learn sometimes the hard way but they just get up and keep going again😎
Pro tip, get flags like they have on military jets. Put the flag on things you need to check before firing it up. Oil, coolant, etc. that way it stands out and you have a physical reminder.
Any car guy has done something like this. I'll admit I burned up a turbo on an old Starion because I forgot to tighten up an oil line after putting in a new exhaust manifold gasket.
Next time write it on blue painters tape on the windshield. I put a paper and wrote no oil on my tahoe cause I dropped the oil pan out and had the pan back on with new rtv. But no oil in it to let it setup the rtv overnight. Always double check before start ups.
That sucks bro 🤣 one time i forgot the transmission oil in a customers car, when he drove away i remembered suddenly and I called him, come backkkk! Need to check something! 🤣🤣
😅Actually, I made the opposite mistake completely once and flooded my transmission with fluid. It came out of the breather. What a mess, but everyone can make mistakes and we learn from it.👍
hey sammit, reminder. put oil in the transmission on the car when you put it back together lol. dont forget. also love your videos keep it up, but also sequential now? idk im like 50/50 on sequential and manual but just an idea maybe idk.
Lol, cant believe it lasted that long, tbh... Shit happens tho man... It'll be back stonger amd faster than ever... I respect you showing us, you didnt have to, most people probably wouldn't show it..
Back in 1990 I had a new Honda & it overheated after I picked it up after a service. The mechanic didn’t fill the radiator with coolant & left it dry. When I took it back the mechanic swore blind he filled it & simply would not admit he stuffed up. I just wanted it noted in the log book. No harm was done. I had to contact Honda Australia who told the mechanic in no uncertain terms to note it in my log book.
i once forgot the oil pressure switch after installing a new oil pump o well it did run only for 30 sec with a bit of revving did survive a 4000km drive after that

The part where only a drop of oil came out hit hard... These transmissions aren't as cheap as they used to be. But hey, shit happens. At least the parts are still available.🙂
all those dyno pulls and a little track day does to show how good those trans really are.
