this is one of the best performances i’ve ever watched. truely a masterpiece of a live show, band, album and song. James’ brilliant vocals, the weird noises on the guitar and the volume knob being twisted as many times as possible is James being awesome. Rob’s way to play slowly and gracefully, and sound AWESOME makes Rob’s bass in, this song especially, beautiful and hard-hitting. Lars’ okay build ups (except the awesome one before Kirks’ solo.) and snare sound make Lars undeniably unique, and Kirk’s soloing, and being able to be as patient as be was as everyone else takes the lead role and doing their thing, and his back-up vocals make Kirk a master of a musician. All this together with the brilliant song writing and experimentation with this song and Load/ Reload in general, and everyone working together in a beautiful musical way definitely created a musical masterpiece.
The whole album is underrated, however, Load is one of the best Metallica's works that aged extremely well. The whole piece was really ahead of its time.

Kirk nailed this solo! Lars also nailed it , James and Rob i think i don't have to say , great as always . James voice is amazing straight outta Load era
Load and ReLoad are criminally underrated and under appreciated. If taken for what they are they are great. No they aren't Black Album 2 or thrashy like everyone expected but they are 2 fantastic hard rock/metal albums with major blues influences. James' vocals were fantastic on these gems.
It’s awesome man. People make the mistake of comparing it to there work in the 80s. Compare it to their 90s contemporaries and you see that it’s about the best music of the decade
I don't care what anyone says about them. I got told that I would enjoy these albums, to get in to Metallica and they are by far, my favourite. I love blues rock and they are some of the best, IMO.
I’m sure this poped up on my feed because I listen to the studio version a lot. I love this song. I’m amazed how good it sounded live 20 almost 30 years later live
I've never heard James' voice without the backing of the usual instruments. His voice alone is just incredible, soulful, and yeah, I have tears in my eyes. I'd go on, but I'm still processing these weird things called emotions.
No, it's not the thrash metal of Kill 'Em All, but is an amazing masterpiece of visceral accomplishment that bears its soul in expressed ways that earlier albums can't.
This is the thing I’ve always loved about Metallica is that although their sound may change the heavy doesn’t go away, it just reshapes into whatever fits the album or song they choose.
@Harvester of Sorrow Agreed. I know that many people hold Kill Em All dearly, but it's definitely Metallica's weakest album. It's still a fantastic album, but it was so primitive in its composition compared to their other albums. Honestly, a band's first album should never be their best album.
@@dielegende9141 Yeah true lol - on my iTunes I’ve replaced the album version with the full length mix that you get on The Memory Remains single, love that end solo
Outlaw torn, Fixxxxer and Bleeding me are some of Metallica underrated songs. James really put lots of emotions in this song and yeah Rob with the bass , needless to say about the rest of the band too !!!!
I hated load when it came out, but the reality is, it is one of the most unique metal albums ever made. So much soul and the lyrics are deeply emotional.
ive had this argument for years. its not a metal album. its a hard rock album. both load and reload are. that being said they are fucking amazing hard rock albums.
@@ramanspeedballof930 if you look at what they did before and compare the sound to what else was coming out at the time, they fit the hard rock genre rather than metal considering there was a bunch of stuff that was way heavier being put out then
You know a band is Great when their die-hard fans can never agree on a Best Album or Best Song. Everybody has their picks and the greatness is that there are so many to choose from it's tough to nail down a favorite by consensus. As for me - I find myself digging a track for a week or two and then a different one and so on . It's been going on for years. And then Digging an album in the same sort of way. I really love to play their stuff especially James guitar parts. For me that's where the real fun is.
James truly is the outlaw torn, he such a beautiful and tortured soul. He is what really makes this Band so great, yes you couldnt have Metallica without each of its parts, But James would be the biggest loss of any of them.
Completely agree. It was listening to the lyrics that brought me to Metallica. After so many years searching for a band that echoed back my own pain I found it here.
So true. Listening to him sing these lyrics at the S&M 2 shows not knowing that he was going to enter recovery once again solidified the power of this song for me. It’s a constant struggle to contain the Outlaw within - always torn.
What an amazing song, it has everything... Guitar experimentation, amazing drum tempo and fills, lead bass, slowwww building up to mid tempo down back again, grizzly voice and actual singing, kirk and rob vocals, sliding on guitars, kirk solo with whammy bar, james 3 minute solo
This is one of the best performances from the boys in years. Instant classic. Since day 1: If Hetfield is truly "feeling it," it makes for an extra special performance.
Masterpiece. James seems like he forgets he's singing. He just let it go the entire time. Even its fellows seems to know it and respect its state of mind... I can't stop seeing this video and music over and over again. In many ways it's powerful and at the same very, very human. God bless Metallica!
One the most unrated but most powerful lyrics behind this masterpiece it’s really James Letter to his family and the Metallica family. We love you James. In 40th anniversary when they did Fixxxer at the end you can feel the emotion that which in most people with hit them and bring them to tears as well mine. What ever your addiction is your Strong and will pull through have Faith and pray.
VERY underrated song. Load and ReLoad were good albums. If your a fan of Metallica you learn to grow with them. Both were very different albums from previous one's but they both have great song's to offer old and new fans. Fan since 1986.
For me Metallica is at their best when they just jam, the last quarter of Outlaw Torn is a great example. I've always absolutely loved the outro guitar solo James lays down here.
I never get tired of watching this performance and how amazing James is. You can tell he was in a groove and even he was enjoying how smooth he sounds. Salute.

This right here!! Man, James vocals and playing skills did not skip a beat. It seemed like not only James, the whole band really wanted to play this song! And dang, they absolutely was “The Outlaw Torn”! Great job guys!!

Damn that might be the best live performance of that song I've ever seen, S&M included. James sounded great and Kirk nailed the solo. Crazy to think James was playing and singing at that level only to re-enter rehab a few weeks later
I think thay may have been the intention behind them playing it once again. James got torn again and maybe got afraid of that waiting again. This song can heal, love to hear it anew.

I love blues rock and they are some of the best, IMO.
this is the most beautiful metallica song
The Outlaw Torn live again! great song from Load.
When James starts dancing while playing the fade out, i can't hold myself still and I join him with dancing.

I’m sure this poped up on my feed because I listen to the studio version a lot. I love this song. I’m amazed how good it sounded live 20 almost 30 years later live
Bleeding me and Outlaw torn are so insanely good. This performance is absolutely badass. The bass sound is so heavy!
Most underrated Metallica song! Awesome preformance, TIME FOR S&M2! 🔥🤘
Fixxxer too
Only 5 days to go!!🤘
Absolutely not underrated at all from Load fans...
The House Jack Built is great
@@UltimateIllusion-qj3gk i love this song too
2 things: 1) this is the most underrated tallica song ever. 2) Really miss Jason’s backing vocals on this
100% agreed on Newsted.
It's their second most underrated song behind Bleeding Me😁
Most underrated low Man's lyric
Fixxxer: Am i a joke to you?
@@jasonx4008 Bleeding me is my favorite Metallica song, got to see them play it live in Wichita KS at my first legit rock concert when I was 16.
Went back through and listened to this gem tonight. Thank you Metallica for always being here during the hard times in life.
I've never heard James' voice without the backing of the usual instruments. His voice alone is just incredible, soulful, and yeah, I have tears in my eyes. I'd go on, but I'm still processing these weird things called emotions.
Um no. He can’t sing it at all anymore. You have no ear for music. Smh.
Lol wtf. Smh.
someone forgot to take his meds
The Panther what a pathetic idiot
@Psyche he really did not, it just takes a pair of functioning ears to hear it.
Bingo, true dat
@@cmurphy0707 yESSSSS
@Harvester of Sorrow Agreed. I know that many people hold Kill Em All dearly, but it's definitely Metallica's weakest album. It's still a fantastic album, but it was so primitive in its composition compared to their other albums. Honestly, a band's first album should never be their best album.
@@cmurphy0707 he mentioned in 1996 lyrically this album is heavier than anything they've written, likely because of until it sleeps and mama said
Man I didn’t want the song to end! What an absolute masterpiece!
At least it wasn't cut off in the middle of the fucking solo like it was on the album
OMG! Bleeding me is my absolutly favorite song!
That intro into the song itself gives me chills. So beautiful, so meticulously made, so perfect.
Here's to a successful rehab stint, James!
Stay strong.
Was a great surprise that they've played it live. Was so lucky to hear it.
I hated load when it came out, but the reality is, it is one of the most unique metal albums ever made. So much soul and the lyrics are deeply emotional.
Absolutely true. Kudos to you, sir, for recognizing it.
ive had this argument for years. its not a metal album. its a hard rock album. both load and reload are. that being said they are fucking amazing hard rock albums.
@@lostsignalspodcast and why exactly are they "hard rock" albums and not, say, heavy metal? Where does the border lie? What makes them "hard rock"?
@@ramanspeedballof930 if you look at what they did before and compare the sound to what else was coming out at the time, they fit the hard rock genre rather than metal considering there was a bunch of stuff that was way heavier being put out then
AINT MY BITCH sO dEeP
Outlaw is my favorite Metallica song, love hearing it live. Roberto's bass sounds absolutely SICK!
9:55 - 10:24 James solo!! I love it!! He should do more on the next album. He is very good! Or an instrumental song
James really needs to make more solos! His solos always have something magical.
I totally agree, his solos in 2x4, Suicide and Redemption are very catchy and beautiful as well too.
one of my fav songs, tripy and emotional
You know a band is Great when their die-hard fans can never agree on a Best Album or Best Song. Everybody has their picks and the greatness is that there are so many to choose from it's tough to nail down a favorite by consensus. As for me - I find myself digging a track for a week or two and then a different one and so on . It's been going on for years. And then Digging an album in the same sort of way. I really love to play their stuff especially James guitar parts. For me that's where the real fun is.
agreed. but in metallica's case, MOP is their greatest song. anything after that is up for each person's interpretation
Can’t agree more!
Outlaw torn is moving up my charts. Still a big fan of eye of the beholder and Orion. So many great songs though
I’ve never clicked so fast on a video before🤘❤️ Metallica rules!!!
Me too🙋☺

Ultra Guitarist oh, do you? Haha
James is one of the last really biggest Rock Stars we have at this Time. Lonely pissed of Soul and soooo fucking strong
I kinda think the singer would be the biggest loss in most bands
James is my generations John Wayne.
Seeing Kirk & Rob watching in awe of James playing at the end of the song gave me chills
I love how Robert and Kirk stare at James the whole time his playing his solo. Like they are enjoying how he's crushing it!
This song alone proves that the Load/Reload era wasn't the musical dumping ground fans like to make it out to be.
Amen load and reload are my fav
Right, there is a lot of great music in Load
I liked Load for sure. I didn’t like Reload at first, but it grew on me.
@@buckeyered80 I consider Load a classic, but reload is alright too.
Load is an amazing album
I like the volume swells with the delay and the volume knob James is doing
Kreator
I just discovered this live version of this song and I’ve listened to it 100 times in 24hrs
Is that all...? Greatest band in history ❤
Papa Het absolutely slaying here! Fuck this is the best they have all sounded for many years! Exciting times
Metallica is underrated......................................FFS
I took this song as a tribute to Cliff, basically saying how he misses him and nobody can replace him
Kirk’s solo at 7:33 is probably the best live solo he’s ever played 🔥🔥🔥
Yes definitely
VERY underrated song. Load and ReLoad were good albums. If your a fan of Metallica you learn to grow with them. Both were very different albums from previous one's but they both have great song's to offer old and new fans. Fan since 1986.
James never ceases to amaze me! He'll always be the best frontman ever!
For me Metallica is at their best when they just jam, the last quarter of Outlaw Torn is a great example. I've always absolutely loved the outro guitar solo James lays down here.
What about the Jam at the end of Garage Inc? That's beautiful too.
I never get tired of watching this performance and how amazing James is. You can tell he was in a groove and even he was enjoying how smooth he sounds. Salute.
The way Kirk tossed away the slide during his solo was smooth af
Enjoy my youtube content andre..
He does that every time! And every time a stage hand comes out to get it lol.
Nothing tops the S&M version, damn that was brilliant.
Yup that's KING
The S&M 2 version
S&M2 version is a masterpiece! Probably the best one on the set list.
@@miloskovacevic3881 Not probably, it just is. Outlaw Torn isn't my favourite Metallica song but it sure is one of if not the best song Metallica has ever written and performed!
I don't care what anyone says load was and still is a great album.
Of course it was, there was Several songs on those albums that got popular, and they STILL play live.....people are hypocrites.
You shouldn't care, it is your personal opinion. I'm particular fan of the and justice (for jason) album, but I enjoy the load and reload albums and still am.
Decent album. Second half is bang average
Load just might be their most underappreciated record, honestly.
i agree 100% its a great album .. just dont compere to ride master or kill m all. wich alot of dumb people do... #sadbuttrue🙏
Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, Fixxxer, Low Man's Lyric. Those four songs alone make 90s Metallica legendary
This right here!! Man, James vocals and playing skills did not skip a beat. It seemed like not only James, the whole band really wanted to play this song! And dang, they absolutely was “The Outlaw Torn”! Great job guys!!
Peak of maturity, art of songwriting, meaningful deep lyrics...like a fine wine, time only makes it better ! Cheers from Morocco
When Hetfield sang the part “if I close my mind in fear please pry it open. If my face becomes sincere. Beware. If I start to come undone Stitch me together. If you see me strut remind of What Left the Outlaw Torn.” I had a pit feeling in my gut that something was that bad going to happen to him.
One month later after a few weeks the band performed at S & M 2 he ended up in rehab.
I'm so glad they're still playing this
Wish Hetfield would play more solos you could see he was in the zone there on the outro
Silverburst75 did he play it on the album? I just assumed Kirk done it on the album and live
@@MetalMayhem1978 yes he did theres a few Hetfield solos not many puppets first solo to live is die he does one nothing else matters and a couple others i cant think of right now lol
His solos on To Live is To Die and Nothing Else Matters are my favorite, but that one is pretty great.
I've been struck by the charge out of this song...so shocked and feeling joyful at the same time..Papa was on fire...Rob showed that bass who's boss...Kirk made that axe wail like a pleasured woman and Lars drummed his beautiful heart out...i certainly found that to be special Papa 💓👑👑👑👑💓...big thank you for finally posting a video Metallica TV 😍
And now I wait my whole lifetime for you
And now I wait my whole lifetime for you
I ride the dirt, I ride the tide for you
I search the outside, search inside for you
To take back what you left me
You know I'll always burn to be
The one who seeks so I may find
To wanna wait my whole lifetime
I'm outlaw torn
I'm outlaw torn
I'm outlaw torn
I'm torn
So on I wait my whole lifetime for you
So on I wait my whole lifetime for you
The more I search the more my need, for you
The more I bless the more I bleed for you
You make me smash the clock and feel
I'd rather die behind the wheel
Time was never on my side
So on I wait my whole lifetime
From outlaw torn
I'm outlaw
I'm outlaw torn
And I'm torn
and if I close my mind in fear
Please pry it open
(See me) and if my face becomes sincere
Beware, yeah
and when I start to come undone
Stitch me together
(Save me) and if you see me shut
Remind me of what left this outlaw torn
and if I close my mind in fear
Please pry it open
(See me) and if my face becomes sincere
Beware, yeah
and when I start to come undone
Stitch me together
(Save me) and if you see me shut
Remind me of what left this outlaw torn
Those are the wrong lyrics though. He says “outlaw of torn”, not “I’m outlaw torn”.
@@MatthewMichalsky bruh... i copied from google
and if you see me strut
James just absolutely pouring himself into that solo, and then seeing Kirk, who's been at his side for 40 years now, watching him the whole time... Lars looking over too... just amazing, man. These guys are just absolute legends.
I love to see how James is enjoying playing his solo so much!
Possibly the best performance of the world wired tour...so much FEELING. You can tell how much this song means to James
This is truly impressive. The final song on Load was always my favorite. I never expected to hear this live with such precision and clarity. You can see and hear the passion in their performance. You can feel the energy of the crowd as the song reaches it's crescendo. Yeah I found it to be pretty special. It brought back memories.
It reminds me of the best friend I ever had. RIP Donnie Hodson
Rob killing it with the bass. Setting a nice groove.
Damn that might be the best live performance of that song I've ever seen, S&M included. James sounded great and Kirk nailed the solo. Crazy to think James was playing and singing at that level only to re-enter rehab a few weeks later
Yeah, it's amazing the strength and resolve we can show before breaking again
I think thay may have been the intention behind them playing it once again. James got torn again and maybe got afraid of that waiting again. This song can heal, love to hear it anew.
Was going to stop procrastinating and get some work done, but I saw this was uploaded and clicked without thinking. Worth it.
