A song too personal and deep for James Hetfield. It is a miracle that with all the bad that happened in his life he is still alive. he is a really tough guy.
I will leave a few words from James in an interview in 2001 where he explains this song and why he composed it.
“I felt I wanted to stop drinking around the time of ‘Load.’ ‘Perhaps I’m missing something.’ Everyone else appears to be constantly happy. ‘I’d like to be happy.’ ‘The Misfits are playing in town Friday night, so Saturday is hangover day,’ I’d tell myself. I’ve missed a lot of days in my life.I learned a lot about myself after a year of therapy. When you’re growing up, there are a lot of things that scare you for no apparent reason. That’s what the song ‘Bleeding Me’ is about: I was trying to bleed out all the bad, to get the evil out. I discovered some heinous things in there while in therapy. A blemish.” James Hetfield.

Also you can tell his emotions are strongly connected with this performance, which gives it a very authentic performance, almost crying during the song. Partly due to nostalgia as they were released when I was leaving high school and so they felt like "My" Metallica more than the earlier albums, but also because these songs are just fantastic. I know Hetfield has commented that the experience for them was more of polishing songs rather than organically developing them (or something to that effect), but holy crap can Metallica polish. @@benjaminwigler8271 To me their last two albums has not been that interesting... St. Anger was at least somewhat original and there is some good stuff and ideas on that album, even though the songs are in general too long and repetitive and it probably could have sounded better.

The guitars in the chorus on the album are thicker than peanut butter. One of my favorite songs!

Load and ReLoad are criminally underrated albums, I love 'em! Also, AiC and Metallica are my all-time favorites! 🤘😆🤘

That song save me when I was younger, I felt that way about everything and then Metallica gave me the words to what I felt.
