I appreciate individuals who make these videos for educational purposes. I am here because I was at a local thrift store looking for a vase. On the other side of the vase rack of was a collection of DVD movies. I could hear two ladies fighting over a movie. Eventually one pushed the other into the rack of movies and glassware and knocked it to the ground. I figured there must’ve been a reason to cause such behavior. So I went online and I found your video. I still don’t think it was worth fighting in public and having your wigs ripped off your head. But i understand why they were fighting. Must’ve been one of those $48 movies you were talking about.
LOL, oh no! I have yet to witness such a fight in person, but I know they happen. Personally, I would just move on, knowing there is always more out there for me to find. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you get a chance to check out some of my other videos. And watch out for that falling glassware in the future!
Watching your video for the first time and was surprised to see Synnabarr! I did illustrations for that back in the mid 90’s. My friends Drew and Alex Posada did the painting for the cover.
Nice video my dude. What I don't see a lot of people talk about is the tax burden on the sales that us as resellers will owe at the end of the year. I plan on making a video about it after I see what a year of selling on eBay does to the bottom line when tax season comes around.
I have 3 businesses and found out after learning the hard way that paying estimated quartly taxes is the only guaranteed way to run your business. It's just like the other responsible thing were are told to do which is put some in savings every week. You just make another bucket...its called a quarterly tax bucket and you put money there to pay for your quartely so you dont live outside of your means and get in trouble down the road like I did the first 10 years of business life.
My single dvd’s are not selling. I’ve had lots sell more so I’m thinking of making lots up to move items faster and save on shipping which saves me in fees too.
I can't tell if selling DVDs is screwing me or getting me extra money lol. I feel like ebay is selling my DVDs in place of other items that could be selling instead, that are worth much more. Therefore making my monthly totals lower. Its only been a couple months though so I cant say for sure. I want it to work because its so easy to find cheap DVDs
I’m just crazy and I’ll buy huge lots as long as they’re 25 cents or cheaper because I know if it’s a lot of 300 for example after 5-10 I’m in the clear. If I get lucky and a $50 dvd which actually happens VERY often it only take a few.
@@QuarterFlips for sure lol. A local nursing home gave me their 500 vhs people had brought in over the years. It’s a pain going through vhs but there were so many rare horror worth $30-$50 it was awesome 😂.
Thanks for your knowledge, did you sell all those items in 1 day? How many items do you have listed in your store? How many items do you list a day. I just subscribed to your channel. Thanks again.
Hi Armando. Thanks for subscribing! I currently have about 530 items listed on eBay and around 830 listed on Discogs. My goal is to try and have at least 1000 items listed on each, but it is hard to sustain that level of listing. I shoot for getting an average of 10 new listings up per day. More if I can. The items I showed that sold in the second part of the video were sold over the course of a week.
How does "Media Mail" work? Does it come with tracking and what is typical cost? In Canada we have "lettermail" which can be shipped cheap ($2 - $7), but there are some major catches. First, it has to be 2cm or thinner, including packaging (an Inch is 2.54 cm) Second, the total weight has to be 500g or less (1 lb is 454g) Lastly, no tracking is included (customer can lie and say they never received it and you have to give them their money back) If it's thicker than 2cm or over 500g, you have to ship "Parcel" which comes with tracking but it starts at $20. Pretty hard to build a business around that but so far I've focused on items that can ship lettermail. It's terrifying waiting to see if someone will steel from you or not. I envy American sellers because of their cheap shipping. If I can't ship it lettermail, the item has to have a value over $40 with my cost being around $5 and expecting shipping to be $20, otherwise I don't buy it. I might profit $10 on that item. Keep in mind, ebay takes a share of shipping and taxes which is ridonkulous in Canada.
Ah, yeah, shipping in Canada has to be rough. Media Mail does come with tracking, but the item in the package must be a media item, which the post office describes as "having educational value." They don't consider video games as valid, but books, VHS tapes, DVDs, old-school film strip rolls...., that sort of thing can go. Price right now starts at $3.65 for up to 16 oz., and then goes up to $4-something, and then like a dollar more per pound after that (that's very much an approximate). You can't include correspondence either, so it's just the item and an invoice if need be.
i would rather buy on amazon than ebay because i get it new and get better deals. also i would never pay more than $10 for a dvd and even then it has to be new not used. i just dont see paying that much for dvds i buy used dvds for .50 cents each and blu rays for $3. but i guess some people really want that dvd so good for you making a living and making someones day and having fun while doing it.
I charge shipping so even at $4.99, at least I'm making something. Not knocking your choice to offer free shipping, but just saying that's a way around that loss.
Do you realize that thirty stores watch these videos and raise their prices making it harder for flippers and collectors. A couple of places around here are raising their prices since they saw on eBay , RUclips etc that they were worth more than they were getting not considering the time it takes to sell not to mention condition it is in. I’m not a seller but it affects me as prices go up flippers raise prices. The flippers have an important place in a collectors life as you have more time to find things, I buy from dealers but why not keep your business to yourself.
I hear you and I understand the point of view. The thing I take into consideration is that like 99.5% of the DVDs priced at $1 aren't really worth that to begin with, so raising the prices probably doesn't help that store. I know a thrift store owner who says he won't check prices and doesn't care that people are finding good deals because it brings people to his store every week. On the other hand, I was in a thrift store on my current trip where almost every item was priced at eBay retail price. I suspect stores like that won't do as well in the long run. Just my take on it.
I have videos without the hat. My hair is long and doesn't like to cooperate, so I use the hat as a uniform solution for filming. Bald would probably be easier!
How do you "recapture" the $1.10? That doesn't make any sense. At 1.10 when selling at 5.99 your NET is 0.45. You never realize that $1.10 you spent OUT OF POCKET for the DVD. Not sure how you convinced yourself you make that back "anyway". lol. No, you don't. Its as simple as you started with $1.10. You ended with with $0.45 Cents. Period.
Well, I have to disagree. I spent $1.10 and I have a DVD in its place. Cool. I sell that DVD for $5.99. Now I have to pay the shipping ($3.19 in this example), which leaves $2.80, and the eBay fee ($1.25), which leaves $1.55. That amount is my original $1.10 + .45 profit (NET). I'm saying I "recapture" the $1.10 because after the sale I have the opportunity to use that $1.10 again. So really, I started with $1.10 and ended with $1.55. Right?
@@TRDOffRoad2020 Naw, I use cardboard I get for free and never bubble mailers. My actual materials shipping cost is probably around .10 (So point taken there. I'll have to include that if I make another of these.)

It's not a "tax burden." When you make income, you have to pay income tax. No different whether it's by selling on eBay or working a traditional job.
There’s ways around a lot of it😉

Yes indeed.
Why are you doing free shipping?
Oh, I'm not doing free shipping now. I was trying it back when this video was made.
Where do you ship ? I tried to go to the ups store and they said it would be 11.89 to ship a dvd
US Postal Service. I think UPS is too expensive for smaller items.
I was today years old when I figured out my profit on dvd's and cd's
I still dont understand how alot of sold comps on ebay ... runs 2.99 to 4.99 free shipping.
I don't really get it either.
Maybe those people have a free shipping hook up?
the ebay barcode never works for me
Odd. I find it almost always works for me. All I can think of is maybe try updating your version of the app?
$5.99 is great if they turn around in a week
True, but then again, once I have them listed and in the system, I don't mind of they sit for a while. They're not taking up much space.

well its official based on these numbers i must have the worst DVD's.I might have to start bundling.
