For someone who’s not a reseller, I found this video very interesting. Awesome stuff as always my friend!
Thanks Chris! I appreciate you always popping over here, even when it's not your thing.
Thank you for the helpful info. I remember when you first started this channel you were reselling clearance make up and then got more into DVDs. It was a nice change and you have learned and shared a lot about DVD hunting.
Thank you for watching! I was just looking back at some of those old clearance makeup videos to get some info for this one. Seems like so long ago.
I think the DVD BOLO concept applies to all media categories...niche, quirky, foreign, classic, etc.
Of course, you can make money off of super common stuff if you have the patience to collect and entire series, or at least enough titles to make a set worth buying.
So true. Stay away from common stuff. Millions were made of those. Crazy how this applies to everything. But it is a fine balance though. I sell games and it has to be rare but there needs to be a niche for it. It is really interesting in a way. It is a money making hobby 😊
Ty, just getting in to VHS collecting and want to get into DVD as well. Great instructional video for new people.Liked and subbed.
Great video! Thanks for all the valuable info about what DVDs to look for. I recently found Dogma DVD in a thrift store.
Thank you! Dogma is always a good find. Pretty good watch, too.
Kevin Smith ( Silent Bob) said Harvey Weinstein still owns the distribution rights to Dogma and won't let them go..now he will die in prison maybe it will change.
Solid advice. Knowing your categories is huge. One of my last thrift outings there was a guy literally scanning everything on the media shelves. I was able to look over the shelves in a few minutes and walked with 5 $15-20 items.
Thank you. It is a good feeling breezing past the scanners!
I'm a scanner dude. I used to scan everything, part ofmthe learning process. No I skip most stuff and scan the stuff that might be worth something.
Soy nuevo suscriptor buen contenido seguire checando tus tips para buscar joyas y venderlas
Thanks for sharing your tips. So helpful I had have good luck selling DVDs some low end and some out of prints but this is very helpful thanks so much.
You're welcome. Good luck with future sales!
you rule!
Too kind.
Best Tips of the Day, This is an Awesome video🌟 Thank Youso much!
I find them in the wild when I am not shopping for them. Then end up in my collection
Glad it was helpful! Some of them end up in my collection too.
You hit the nail right on the head! Exactly!
Im from Australia your video is spot on dude! I hit up the more obsecure dvd stores
Sweet!
Awesome Video! Thanks for all the info. There is a huge used media store in Nashville called McKays. I try to go 5 or 6 times a year. Going to use your $40 or greater idea next time.
I just checked out McKay's website. The remind me a lot of Half Price Books. I hope that $40 idea works for you!
My favorite things to flip are complete series lost is only 6 seasons. I once found Hell’s Kitchen complete series sold for $100. It’s funny you mentioned Edmonds senior center there’s a guy that goes there with a Hand scanner and now that place has kinda run dry. Still have good advice for flipping DVDs just my personal take. Also get a resurfacing machine if you sell enough media I have a JFJ and no regrets.
I haven't really done a cost analysis on getting my own machine. If things keep expanding for me, I may go that route eventually. I think I may have met that guy you're talking about in Edmonds. And you're right, there's not as much lately, but I do still find the occasional gem.
Just a comment on the name of the DVD - It's the Arkansas Razorbacks... Not Arizona Razorbacks.
Totally the kind of mistake I'd make. Thanks for the catch!
My question to you is this: Do you collect dvds to resell or to just collect DVDs so you can have them in your collection?
I have been collecting only to resell, but as I go I've been finding there are some I want to keep. So... I guess now it's both.

Great video!
Thanks!
Good point about values changing. I used to look for "Last of the Dogmen" with Tom Berenger and find it all the time- it sold for 40-50 bucks. Suddenly it dropped to $5-10. Re-released? Does it matter? I know of a guy who liked a movie by the German guy who directed "Necromantik" (really weird film) that wasn't in print so he wrote a letter to the guy and said "how much would you charge me for the rights to release the film in the U.S?" He paid about $8,000 and released it on dvd in U.S. and made a lot of money. you never know.
Oh, I wish I didn't know exactly who and what you meant when you said "the German guy who directed "Necromantik"" LOL. I had a friend who was obsessed with his movies. What film did your friend release here?
@@QuarterFlips It was more a friend of a friend and i forget the title. he was one of my buddy's laserdisc customers. I just loved the story. nobody ever thinks to do stuff like that. i had a customer at B.U. tell me he called Weinstein films because he liked Swingers and Made and asked if he could buy the dvd direct to sell in his dorm. they said yeah...2 bucks each if you buy at least 50. who knew? he said he sold a bunch for 10 bucks.
You could save money by getting your own disk cleaner
I don't know that I am quite at the volume yet to justify the cost. Possibly someday.
I have been selling Dvds since January, I’m gonna use that search $30 plus comps and write on my phone Notes , great idea . I usually find only DVDs that sells for $6.99 to $8.99 , and I pay $0.75 to $1 ,
So not much there .
Honestly, 99% of what I find falls into that cheap range too. I do have some luck selling lots of DVDs together. $3 to make $20 feels more substantial than $1 to make $7, even though the math doesn't really work that way.
I've had a lot of bad experiences purchasing DVDs from eBay because it's difficult to tell which ones are counterfeit or faulty. Even if it's official there could be a wonky disc that just wasn't made right at the factory. As a buyer I just don't like to deal with it and eBay is a last resort. I'd rather buy digital when possible now. So what do I look for when hunting a DVD? DVD Digital. If it ain't digital then it's probably not worth buying to me unless it's like $5.
That makes sense to me. Personally, I've had mostly good experiences buying discs on eBay (DVD/Blu-ray and Music), but I know there are scammers and the less honest out there as well. I take care to offer pretty high quality stuff when I'm selling and most of my buyers have been happy so far.
