Hey man I enjoy your channel and just wanted to give you some constructive feedback if you wouldn't mind. Can you keep the image of the movie you're talking about on for the duration that you talk about it? It makes it a lot easier for thumbnail scrolling, passive viewing etc. Also, It looks like the lighting is a little off today (maybe too orange?) Idk but it just looks kind of odd on this video. Anyway, hope this helps the channel.

Yeah, Dogma has crazy prices! I ended up buying a bootleg copy. I don't really like doing that but I will for certain ones. I sold my Splash blu ray for £118 & bought a bootleg one for £9.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend was released through Fox’s deal with Anchor Bay, which when it expired, it went OOP hence the high price. Same situation with Lucas and Airheads. Dogma, I got lucky. Found it at a swapmeet back in 2018 for $2 and immediately snapped it up. In some ways, I feel bad for the seller as he left so much money on the table but what a great find for that price. I wish I had gotten At Long Last Love when it was available. Same with Stranger Things 2. Free Willy is a weird case. It came out and went out of print fairly quickly, which is why the price went up fairly quickly. I initially got rid of the DVD ahead of the Blu-Ray release but never got my hands on it. By the time I was ready to buy it, it was already OOP. I since reacquired the DVD and have no regrets. At least for now.
I have a 4 Pack of Free Willy, Free Willy 2, Free Willy 3 and Free Willy: Escape From Pirate's Cove that I bought back in May 29 of this year for $7.49 on DVD. There are 4 discs on of each movie. If it is out of print, I will definitely want to keep it.

I have that 2006 Black X-mas blu. Its from 2008 and was only distributed in Canada. I definitely found it a step up from the US DVD. I also have the Canadian blu of Martyrs.
@@mikefisher2673 Umbrella Entertainment released a new edition a few months back. It's Region A friendly and can be found for a reasonable price. I picked up the limited edition (limited to 250 copies) from them despite already owning the Canadian release, but a standard edition has also been released. Both the Canadian edition and Umbrella's edition use the same film transfer. Google "umbrella entertainment martyrs" and it should be one of the first results that shows up.
Long ago I found a copy of "Thursday" on DVD (for a reasonable price) when it was selling for $100+ on ebay. Then some enterprising ebayer began manufacturing counterfeit DVD copies and selling them which gutted the used market price and help motivate the rights holders to dust off their master and release a proper Blu-Ray. My advice is don't buy media as an investment. Sell anything you don't/no longer care about for a tidy profit when the opportunity arrives. But, never make an unreasonable purchase for hope of a future windfall--collectable media pricing is extremely fickle. Buy only what you love and stream/Redbox the rest. Thanks again for another informative video.
I lucked out at one of my local thrift stores (mom and pop) last summer when a batch of Blu-rays appeared in the back and was rare since I always mostly see VHS and DVDs only. I went through about 30 Blu-ray titles and low and behold came across 2 copies of Dogma and one of them was sealed. I had a coupon for 50% off all media and the asking price was $1 for VHS titles, $2 for DVDs and $3 for Blu-rays. Needless to say I walked out with both Dogma copies for $3 plus taxes. I kept the opened copy and immediately flipped the sealed copy and within 3 hours of posting it on FleaBay I sold it for $150 with a Buy It Now option.
I was stationed in Japan around 1990 and (this is CD, not video) got a copy of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s 4 Way Street. When I got back to the US, I found that they had not put out a pricing in the US. Of course, in the mid 90’s, there was not the internet we have now, but I’m sure it would have gotten a lot, if I could only find interested buyers. Later, they did release it here in the US, and my dreams of making money vanished. I still enjoy the music, though, so all is not lost. My point is, with the ability to take advantage of out of print DVD/Blu-rays, you need to act quickly or they may rerelease your movie and you’ll be stuck with a once valuable movie that is now just something that you can enjoy.
You’re kidding. I’m going to my local pawn shop tomorrow, they’ve had a copy there for about six months now but I don’t like the movie so I never bought it
Great video. Haha I had about half of these you mentioned and sold them all at the Berkeley flea a half dozen years ago for 2 to 3 bucks a pop before I moved to Japan permanently and started rebuilding my collection here. Maybe it falls under the collectors column but it did have a theatrical release and was at least to me a big movie in the mid 2ks The Fall by Tarsem was the movie I regret most letting go because I can't even buy it again here in Japan it's going for about 300 in USD I really just miss that movie it is one of my favorites.
I was able to get that Godzilla double feature for $5.99 at Disc Replay recently, and the case and discs were like brand new. Also got the Blacula double feature for $6 there as well.
People who like "Dogma" will want to track down the "Vulgar" DVD. The movie isn't worth watching, but it's the only source I know of to get the Dogma Documentary ("Judge Not... In the Defense of Dogma") that they never put on any of the Dogma releases for some reason.
Yeah a lot of the FUNimation titles have been going Out of Print due to Crunchyroll buying them out and even before then some titles were discontinued because the their licensing expired. The ones that we look for are the Dragon Ball Yellow Dragon Boxes Sets and the collector Anniversary sets like the new YuYu Haksuho that was released last month and is now on there for over $300 to $1000.
Those dragon boxes are expensive, but also one of the best ways to watch DBZ. The Orange bricks dvds are artificially in widescreen and are DNRd and even new special edition blurays they put out are 4:3, but also DNRd. I opted for the Funi singles for the Faulconer score.
Crunchyroll didn't buy Funimation out. Sony bought out Funimation first, then brought Crunchyroll so they could drop the Funimation name. Now, Sony is gutting all the M rated titles in their catalogs. Seven seas for me!
Hate to be that guy, but Slumber Party Massacre II/III didn’t come with a slip 😉 I just picked it up myself for 85 bucks. I was happy with that purchase.
I just wish I sold my Dawn of the Dead (1978) blu ray before the Second Sight version was released. Maybe your VHS copy of Free Willy is worth more than the much sought after bluray.
With the anime point. The way studios know what is popular is my merchandise, including the DVD/Blu-Ray sets. They already upmarket the price and have semi limited runs. That along with some rights issues many shows that aren't popular climb the ranks in pricing.
Several movies you’ve listed, I’m happy to own, and I bought most of them on release day: Dogma Dead Alive Airheads Stranger Things Season 2 4K Sleepaway Camp Trilogy w/Slips There are a couple more $100 plus titles to note that I own: Freaked Hellraiser: Deader Dutch
I have several rare movies. "The Wizard of Oz" (1910) The silent film. Most people dont know about this version. I also have a movie staring Waylon Jennings when he was young. It's called "Nashville Rebel" 1966) Plus I have "Metropolis" (1927).
In summer 2022 I bought the first print Blu-ray box set for Adventure Time. It was around $220 then. Later the most recent print went out of production, so there’s no way to get the whole series on Blu-ray other than secondhand. The first print box set is going for $600+ now.
Well it looks like im going to thrift stores and goodwill for a while!😅 You should make a video about rare VHS tapes because its crazy on eBay with the prices
I know hundreds of folks who have every one of those films. In fact, just about everyone I know has these... in DVD, that is. In blu-ray, though? Of course not. After they got them on DVD, nobody double dipped. We're all waiting for the 4Ks of 'em, thanks.
My Slumber Party 2/3 Blu-ray has been gathering dust since I picked it up new at a horror con in 2017. I finally got around to watching it at the beginning of 2023, wasn't a fan and sold it on eBay for $75 before fees. I guess the buyer got a great deal! Now checking my copies of Dogma and Dead Alive...
I missed out on Dutch when it came out. All of the other OOP titles outside a few Shout titles, I've been randomly been able to find at used stores which is always exciting to find.
Lol, I threw away the packaging for that _Stranger Things 2_ 4K set and put the discs in a regular Viva case...always hated that stuff. They're not quite as outrageous as the ones you covered here, but I'm still irritated that _Silver Streak_ and _The Thirteenth Floor_ are $50-$60 and OOP. That's a bit much for me for a single film, but they're (relatively) awful discs on top of it. Still hoping those two make a comeback at some point so I can at least get them for a reasonable price because I love those titles.
That Black X-Mas was a Canadian blu ray release. It wasn't for sale in U.S. stores. I bought it online on Amazon Canada for $9.99 when it came out. The movie Fido on blu ray was the same way....Canadian release. Try finding that one !
I picked up ST2 4k set on eBay imported (im from uk) a few years ago and it was pretty hard to buy even then and it was even pretty expensive back then. I'm just glad I got it when I did but I wish the other seasons will be released on 4k
I swear the rarest thing I own on Blu Ray is probably my OOP copy of Speed Racer (2008), which I bought online for $30. I don’t plan on ever selling it, its one of my favorite movies out there, but if people start getting in on how good it was and it somehow skyrockets in value, I wouldn’t be surprised. The DVD was cheap as chips. The Blu Ray? Not so much.
My wife “accidentally “ threw out my beloved Halloween box set from shout factory a few years back. Still haven’t forgiven her for it. Watch over your collection like a hawk.
Godzilla vs Biollante and the the double pack that you showed really hurt me when I decided to collect all the Godzilla films. Turns out I was a year too late for the double pack (not sure when Biollante went out of print) and it is so annoying seeing all the other films lined up with those three movies being DVD not to mention the dub is the only option when watching. I hope one day they'll re-release them on blu-ray. As far as finding out about something in my collection becoming expensive I don't know of any other than them being expensive when I bought them. I guess the only thing I can think of that really expensive (all on DVD as there are no Blu-rays would be the He-Man and She-Ra sets that when you put all the box sets together makes a mural of Castle Grey Skull, Snake Mountain and whatever the Hordak's base is called; I am missing The New Adventures of He-Man Vol 2 box as that is super mega rare I only saw one listing of that and it was hundreds of dollars. I also have all three Volumes of the 2002 He-Man series and Gargoyles season 2 Vol 1 is quite pricey. The Simpsons season 6 box seems to be rare and is quite pricey if you can find the correct box as most will give you the homer head which completely clashes with all the other box sets and is cheaply made which is why they later came out with a set that is like the others but there aren't as many from what I can tell. As for video games I have a few that have become expensive. Kid Icarus Uprising(3DS case and manual), Metroid Prime Trilogy(Wii case and all inserts), not a game but related; The Art of Ratchet & Clank book and all six issues of Ratchet & Clank comic. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GC in case and all inserts), and my most expensive game is probably Godzilla for the PS4. Technically the Skylanders series is my most expensive as I have most of the characters and Lego Dimensions though I don't have that many of the figures due to it being Lego so they are already a bit pricey but I mostly wanted the Simpsons, Dr. Who and Portal packs anyway.
Biollante is a weird deal. For whatever reason, it's rights are not tied to the overall TriStar deal that the Heisei era films otherwise had. I had Biollante on VHS, and I think maybe it only ever had a Japanese DVD release. This is just from my recollection. I'm sure if you look up a Kaiju website or channel they might discuss it.
Criterion blu-ray of Rosemary’s Baby is another one that’s been out of print for a while. Kills me that I don’t have that one considering it’s one of my all time favorites.
I see that getting a 4K for sure. Plus When criterion titles go out of print it’s usually because someone else has a license or the license lapsed, so someone else can purchase it.
@@JeffRauseo It would be interesting if it got a new 4K. With the director essentially being in exile, would we get a “Director’s Approved” transfer or will Criterion supervise their own? I feel like rereleasing it at all will be met with controversy regardless.
@@JeffRauseo yeah I’m just holding out for the day it gets announced on 4k. I have the standard Paramount blu-ray so I’m content with that until the time hopefully comes. Could look really amazing on 4K if it ever happens.
I’m kicking myself for not picking up Can’t Hardly Wait on Blu-Ray when it came out in 2018 from Mill creek. Love that movie and now it’s going for $50-$60 bucks and very hard to find.
The only one in my library is Once Upon a Time in America: Extended Director’s Cut (251 minutes). It’s an Italian gold case, bought for £45 still sealed. Not sure if I should open it.
Target dropped those special edition Stranger Things seasons for $5. I bought the first and second season blu-rays from Target in the mock VHS packing for $5 each years ago.
How about old Dvds ? I have a movie called ( Resurrection) With Christopher Lambert. I have never seen it on blu ray or 4k. Its not found on dvd anymore. How much would that be worth?
I collect blurays / DVDs because I enjoy the film. Not because it is valuable. Simple rule. The films you mentioned are not my cup of tea in owning. Would never pay 250.00 for a single disc release. A OOP box set yes may consider up to 100.00 range. Remember you own your collection. The collection does not own you.
I don’t have most of these, because they’re just not part of my desired collection, except for Deadalive, the Godzilla, double feature, and Stranger Things, which I picked up because it was on sale. There’s also quite a few movies I just won’t buy until there’s a 4K version. Thanks for the list.👍🏼
Not to nitpick, but it seems like in every one of your videos, your eyes are slightly out of focus. You might either want to use focus assist if you're going manual, and check whether your eyes are showing up in the chosen focus peaking color, or see if your camera has eye tracking if you're using autofocus.

The fact that Netflix didn't even bother to put HDR grading on the Stranger Things S01 4k set says all you need to know about Netflix.

Others I am aware of that I own are Dutch with Ed O'Neill. Taxi with Jimmy Fallon, Stuck on You with Matt Damon, and horror wise Darkness Falls
Sexy Beast on Blu-ray falls into this category. Super underrated movie too.
Honestly, I saw that in the theater and it totally sucked. I should have asked for my money back.
Carpool on DVD is really hard to find now
I lucked out at one of my local thrift stores (mom and pop) last summer when a batch of Blu-rays appeared in the back and was rare since I always mostly see VHS and DVDs only.
The only one I have is Airheads, which I imported from the US here in Australia about 10 years ago haha
I find it funny that The Ringer staring Johnny Knoxville is like $130.
You’re kidding. I’m going to my local pawn shop tomorrow, they’ve had a copy there for about six months now but I don’t like the movie so I never bought it
@@Tomhyde098 let us know if you get it!
I bought Dogma brand new for $10 years ago. It insane how much these OOP blu rays are.
I actually have the Sleepaway Camp blus with slipcovers and Slumberparty Massacre 2 and 3 with slip. Bought them all when they were first released
Hate to be that guy, but Slumber Party Massacre II/III didn’t come with a slip 😉 I just picked it up myself for 85 bucks. I was happy with that purchase.
For some reason, the Lawrence of Arabia 4K Steelbook is nuts right now.
Never Say Never Again is usually more than $75. The one I wish I bought was Pink Panther shout factory set. That got crazy quickly…$250-$300
Several movies you’ve listed, I’m happy to own, and I bought most of them on release day:
Dogma
Dead Alive
Airheads
Stranger Things Season 2 4K
Sleepaway Camp Trilogy w/Slips
There are a couple more $100 plus titles to note that I own:
Freaked
Hellraiser: Deader
Dutch
I do have both of the Stranger Things 4K sets but I would love to have Dogma on Blu-ray.
I have several rare movies.
"The Wizard of Oz" (1910) The silent film. Most people dont know about this version.
I also have a movie staring Waylon Jennings when he was young. It's called "Nashville Rebel" 1966)
Plus I have "Metropolis" (1927).
In summer 2022 I bought the first print Blu-ray box set for Adventure Time. It was around $220 then. Later the most recent print went out of production, so there’s no way to get the whole series on Blu-ray other than secondhand. The first print box set is going for $600+ now.
I have the Black Christmas (2006) blu-ray in my collection. I knew it was rare, but didn’t know how sought after it is.
I sold a lot of dvds about 15 years ago thinking digital was “it”. I kick myself all the time for that….
Fun list! Now I just need a bunch of old VHS's to become the trend again!
I live in the UK, but have a US/Region One DVD release of Dogma. It is the extended edition that was not made available in the UK.
Divorce her
Godzilla vs Biollante and the the double pack that you showed really hurt me when I decided to collect all the Godzilla films.
@@thechairman74 Biollante is currently in the middle of rights hell. No one knows who has US distribution rights.
@@ZodsSnappedNeck I don't think anyone has the rights, and it's been that way for decades.
yep, me too. I'm only missing Biollante.
You should a part 2, I’m sure there’s plenty of oop movies that we don’t know about
Criterion blu-ray of Rosemary’s Baby is another one that’s been out of print for a while.
Damn. I have the Criterion Rosemarys Baby. Good to know!
Criterion Rosemary has been dropping in price lately
Oh wow! I have all the Godzilla 2 packs! Awesome video!
I had just bought a new copy of Dogma (dvd), while in a Walmart about a month ago! I was shocked, and only paid $16.99 for it!
I have the Godzilla one you first mentioned! Got it as a Christmas gift many years back! I'm glad I still own it!
Target dropped those special edition Stranger Things seasons for $5. I bought the first and second season blu-rays from Target in the mock VHS packing for $5 each years ago.
Original Dogma movie is very rare on DVD and worth quite a bit. Also the original The Lion King first DVD release is worth a small fortune!
I love Free Willy. Such a cool 90's family movie with a great soundtrack!
I have a full set of Godzilla that I would never sell but worth noting Godzilla vs Biollante also out of print and worth a significant amount
Thanks man! I have a literal mountain of movies I appreciate this. Gonna get to it 😅
I never knew Dead-alive was ever released on Blu-ray...
I have the DVD. Would love to have a blu-ray
