This weekend, my son (who is a high schooler) had the opportunity to perform Sir Karl Jenkins’ “Requiem” at Carnegie Hall with other choral students from around the world. He got to speak with Sir Karl, took a photo with him, etc. This was a huge moment in my son’s journey as a musician.

I grew up with my grandparents and we always watched a show on channel 6 (we had nine total channels at the time) at night before we went to sleep. I remember there were a couple of times when parts of the scenes in the show played this song and it was an amazing song. I can still see the memory clear in my mind as well as recognize the song. I was thinking the same thing and was slightly surprised to find out this was a choir of white people lol. Some would probably chalk it up to the drum beats, but I really do feel like they sound like an African youth choir.
