Hi guys.thanks for the view of calabash I used to work at Ellas about thirty years ago and Captain John, Beck's they all ht good food. You bring back good memories thanks god bless you.
Okay just some info for ya, not sure if anyone has told you yet. The seafood hut is what is left of The Original Calabash. It use to be where Captin Nances is now. It was the best one there and I have been going to this area since the 70s. I watched all these places spring up over the years my how time flys.
Yes, but the Calabash Seafood Hut is now located across from Ella's. The last time I went there was about seven years ago. I went in there for the seafood lunch special, and seafood was not even on the options for that day. I ended up having to get a hamburger steak, or something like that. I don't remember if it was a hamburger, or hamburger steak pattie. But I was very disappointed that seafood was not an option on that day. Seafood is literally in their name. I hope they have changed this policy, since they are the Calabash Seafood Hut. Seafood should be an option every day.
we never had the chance to try ellas, we did try becks the other year, and your sitting right behind where we sat, to funny. we thought it was pretty good. that lunch special for the 2 choices is a great price, wow. i know you like your tarter with your fish, i don't think i have ever seen anyone use it on shrimp also, but good for you, we all like what we like. you have inspired me to try the flounder when we come down in aug. looking forward to it, not sure where i will try it, but will see, and let you know, lol. we really enjoy callahan's too, usually one of our stops, we enjoy little river and calabash area, we tend to stay up north since we stay in cherry grove, don't go to myrtle too often. i'm sure there are plenty of great places to see and eat too. have you all ever tried the place at the end of the street, the Mediterranean place grapevine? just curious
We have not tried the Mediterranean place. I know exactly where you are talking about, and it looks like it would be pretty good. We just usually go to Calabash for the seafood. Yes, I would like to know what you think of the flounder when you come. And if you happen to eat at Hoskins, you know I recommend it there, very highly. We generally stay up around North Myrtle, too. We did drive down to Broadway at the Beach last night. That's the only time we have been down to Myrtle Beach this trip. Many of the restaurants on River Road in calabash, offer a really good lunch special. We walked across the street and went in Callahan's, right after eating at Beck's.
@@NCMemoryMakers got ya on the place across street from Callahans, my wife has always wanted to try it, maybe one of these times we will. Yep I will keep you posted if we decide to try hoskins or if try someplace else as well. I think it being fried makes a difference to. I get ya on going to Centra MB, we usually go to Broadway if our daughters are along, but so much of the same at barefoot now Not sure if you're into it or not but try top golf sometime, bits really fun. Thanks for replying always great to hear. Maybe one of these days we'll cross paths on our trips. Take care and enjoy
That looks like some good food. We used to eat at Capt. Nance's in Calabash. But the last time we were there weren't impressed. Gonna have to try Beck's next time we are down there.
We have been to Captain Nance's, as well. Our first experience there was not great, but our next two were better. I do like the fact that you can sit out on the back deck on the waterfront at Captain Nance's. Beck's is very good, too. Thank you for watching!
If you go to any Brunswick County seafood restaurant, the only way to go is the Admiral's Platter. Who could choose just a "choice of two" or even a "choice of three"?
We ate at Ella’s October 2020 when we visited Myrtle Beach with dear friends. But, next time we are in the area, we will definitely check out Becks. Everything looked delicious. Hush puppies..the best I’ve ever eaten are in Shelby at Bridges bbq. It’s a damp, cold, rainy day here too, but love the temps. Have a safe trip home..
I would prefer having the fries and hush puppies together. In fact that would be a perfect way to separate the food. O reason to complain, when you put those two item’s together
Shrimp and flounder every day would be alright with me too. I love hushpuppies when you can actually taste the cornmeal in them. You better make Shawnasi a grilled cheese soon, lol!
The answer to this question is very long, so rather than type it all here, I'm going to put you a video link to watch where we address that. Two other people have also asked us the same question. We talked about this issue at 35:44 into the video. I'm also including the link, because it is sort of a marital testimony where we share how things came about between us. You may want to watch the entire thing, and if you do, that's great. If not, the answer to that question is at 35:44. ruclips.net/video/Ab1yu_0w2cE/видео.htmlsi=i4NDC9j72HXIP8Ld
@stepheniesmith4927 It's no problem. You aren't the only person to ask. That's one of the reasons we addressed it in that video. I only sent the video link, because it would've taken so long to explain the condition in her hand, and describe it. I hope we didn't offend you. It would've just been a lot to type out. We appreciate you watching and your kind words. Back in February, she had to see a specialist about it. We did a video on that, too. Unfortunately, there is little that can be done about her hand.
I love seafood. Looked good 😊 thx

Are you, by any chance, related to the family that the Vereen Memorial Gardens is named after?

This is a great place to get it. Thank you for watching!
@@NCMemoryMakers Sorry not related. But I knew a few of them, good people. God bless and safe travels . Beautiful couple
Love, love, love Beck's. My favorite! Always! Great lunch special!
thanks for the video review..take care...
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Thank you again for telling us about Becks we be going to try it soon
Let us know how you like it. Thanks for watching!
Another great video. Love the restaurant reviews
Thank you so much for watching and for commenting!
Been to Beck's many times!
We enjoyed our meal there.
Thank you for showing Ella’s. I’ll miss eating at Ella’s in July. I hope you went to Calahand’s too for tshirts. I too love the honey butter
We walked through Callahan's right after leaving Beck's
I love seafood too, don’t get tired of eating it. clam chowdah is how we new englander call it
Yes, chowda without the "r". My stepdad was a New Yorker, and he would say it the same way.
Thanks for watching and for commenting

We went to Beck's today and we loved it. Thank you again for the video and suggestions. We are going back before we head home on Friday.
That is great! So glad you had a good experience there. Thank you for sharing!
I could be wrong but I think a bisque is smooth and chunks makes it a chowder. I LOVE seafood but havent been able to do oysters on the half-shell.
You are probably correct. This was smooth, but there were still small bits of crab. But no lumps.
I love Beck's hush puppies.
Yes, they're very good
Praying for sunshine 🌞
Thanks for the video. Have a great day.

Never had a bad meal! Great oysters.
Looks good!
Yes, very good
food looked real good
It was excellent
Derrick yours looked 👍 glad you two had a great time
Maybe Boston or Maine, but vermonters use the r in chowder
Perhaps. My experience is people from NY and Massachusetts.
Love honey butter and flounder hush puppies.

If you liked Ella's, you will like Beck's. Same owners, and identical food.
I live in nc and have never eaten there
They have your last name. If you're in the area, give it a try.
Ellas, becks, and capt nances are all the same family....
I thought there was a connection, especially with Ella's and Beck's.
At one point Becks caught on fire. I wonder if they did the same thing with the employees?
Not sure. Didn't know Beck's had ever burned.
@@NCMemoryMakers yea. It happened in 2012 and reopened in 2013. You can Google it. I was very sad.
Ask for another plate. Simple solution

@@michellejohnson2946 I'm not sure what you're talking about, as neither of us got french fries in this restaurant. Can you be a bit more specific?
So tragic. This locals favorite.
You're referring to the fire at Ella's? Yes, that was tragic.
Shrimp and flounder every day would be alright with me too. I love hushpuppies when you can actually taste the cornmeal in them. You better make Shawnasi a grilled cheese soon, lol!
The hush puppies at these Calabash restaurants, are excellent.

The only hushpuppies that I have seen shaped like that are the frozen ones which are nasty ,in my opinion. I suppose these are homemade.
Yes, these are homemade. They are very good.
I'm sure it's good though....
It was very good, and I don't think we spent anywhere near that much.
