    I just found your video reviews of the Calabash restaurants and enjoyed them very much. We have a condo in Brunswick Plantation that we use mostly for escaping the cold Ohio weather and for a month in the fall for the great golf.. Captain Nance has been a favorite for 30 years when the boys were home with us and we vacationed at the beach. We prefer to sit inside by a window and watch the pelicans and other water fowl. Portions for the lunch special are nice size and my wife always asks for a 2nd basket of the hush puppies with the honey butter. We will be back down in a few weeks and stay for about 3 1/2 months and I can’t wait for that Calabash style seafood. Beck’s is also great, have missed Ella’s since the fire and you can’t beat the Boundary House and the price during the lunch hours. Thanks for your videos!

      You are very welcome. We are glad you enjoy your videos up there in Ohio. We hope you have a very safe and happy trip down there soon.
      We just went by and checked Ella's a few weeks ago, and the building is completely gone now. It looks as if they may be planning to rebuild? At least, that's what we've heard.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes! I meant to get back to you on that.
      So, I hope we got the same thing that you were talking about. It's called baked potato salad. We got a plastic container of it, and had it Wednesday evening for supper, along with some ribeye steaks we had purchased at Publix on our way out. It was very different than regular potato salad, but very good. It seemed like it had a lot of different seasonings or herbs in it.
      We really liked it, and would definitely get it again. Thank you for recommending it.
      It doesn't look to us like Ella's is going to be rebuilding. Even the sign they had up saying they were, is now gone. We can't tell that anything has been done with the building.

      @monicamoore111 Yes, we are sad about it. I have not officially heard they're not going to, but I just know that nothing has been done in the 2 years since it's burned. We had an annual tradition of going there, for about the last 7 or 8 years.

      We have actually talked about going there. We're not overlooking it. We have priced their menu, and they are through the roof expensive.
      We would love to go for lunch, but they're only open for supper. In fact, we had actually thrown around the idea of going for lunch this past weekend when we were there, and that's when we discovered they weren't open for lunch. And we were kind of hungry at that point, and wanting seafood.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 месяцев назад +5

      Go ahead and Google "What is the seafood capital of the world?", and tell me what comes up.
      That's not something that I made up or put in the title as clickbait. We did not give the town that name. That is what the town is called. I wouldn't have put it in there otherwise.
      And it's not just a "random place in North Carolina". It is a coastal town that is known for its excellent fishing and style of frying seafood. And also, the vast number of seafood restaurants to be condensed into such a small area.
      That's not saying there are not other good places in the world for fishing. That's just telling you what the nickname of this town is, and has been.
      I guess I'm a little surprised you say you haven't heard of it, when two RUclips channels that you watch quite a bit, have both done recent videos in Calabash.
      Somewhere has to be the seafood capital of the world. Why not a coastal town in North Carolina?
