Never heard of a beef between SOM and KRS. Two different levels. I'm from East Oakland, grew up off both. Casual is dope. I remember when they filmed the video for "That's How It Is", at that liquor store that was on 96th and MacArthur. John (Casual) was the street dude out of the Hieroglyphics camp. He directed a few of my cousins videos. 93 til infinity is one of the GOAT productions. Man I remember when Jason Kidd was a senior at St Joe's in Alameda. We went to the game at the Oakland coliseum. After the game, it was a brawl between Hiero and some dudes from 82nd Ave "The Hill". We looked up, damn near every door on the coliseum opened with niggas yelling, "Hiero" running out. them dudes was DEEP 😂 Good times man that was so long ago. I'm 43 now man got crazy memories of back home

Saafir used to post up in from of Jim's Liquor on 82nd ave. when i was a tech i did a job at his house on 98th ave, just before he became confined to a wheelchair. i remember walking down 82nd and Mac. this was right after 93 til infinity dropped. i heard this dude ask his homeboy "you ever heard of NAS"? when my cousins lived on Sterling, way up the 82nd hill, casual used to stop by my cousin Apple's crib. been around hip hop for some years. god bless our memories
Yeah, Future Development is one of the greatest albums ever for me. Pep Love is also one of my favorite artists. Hiero definitely boasts some heavyweights

everytime i watch one of your vids i feel like im 12 y.o. again playing nintendo with friends who are no longer here. its one of the only times i can think of them and smile, its like they are here watching with me. i can remember the jokes, the days we bought certain albums at the spot on 18th street, the wise cracks, the moments when one of us figured out a line that we couldnt understand, the girls we messed with and the songs that were on.... cancer almost took me to join them but im recently cancer free(!!!) and i find myself reminiscing a lot. sorry for the rant i just wanted to say thanx for the memories. the music and the moments are in a quantum entanglement that cant ever be separated.

I recently saw that Casual interview where they took KRS line Frisco Disco line as a diss. Casuals Ain’t my Fault and KRS Hip hop vs Rap were both fire back in spring 94. Had them both taped off the radio. Great hip hop back then. These stories are incredible
I was a Chapter Leader for the Universal Zulu Nation in DC in 1993. I remember going up to a Baltimore club one night with some other Zulus to see a show that featured BDP and Souls of Mischief. I don't remember who else was on the bill. It was jam packed. Baltimore had a heavy underground Hip Hop scene and a lot of MC's came that night wanting to battle KRS. Some guys were even shouting from the audience and trying to get the attention of KRS to battle. After the show, I remember being back stage and KRS, Souls of Mischief and some local cats engaged in a cypher right then and there! It was dope. A bunch of freestylin' and back and forth but I don't remember there being any bad blood.
I'm from the Bay. Casual was always that dude. He battled everyone in the Bay. Casual vs Hobo Junction was a classic. This seems like the classic miscommunication beef. Where all it would take is one face to face convo to fix. There is mad amounts of love between NYC and The Bay. All the way back to when DJ Latin Prince started spinning Hip Hop in the Bay. Or when DJ Kevvy Kev and The Wake Up Show were the first to bring Wu Tang out to the West Coast.
I remember the Hiero VS Hobo JCT KMEL battle. Saafir was nice with it too. Friends from the West had that battle recorded on tape, visited Mississippi and let me dub that iconic moment. Still have that on High Bias cassette. Definitely a classic.

There are some hilarious stories of Saafir and 2Pac going at it on the tour bus while touring the chitlin' circuit. Mississippi is right through there. That circuit brought a lot of Bay Area artists out there. So you always find random E40, Mac Dre, Heiro, and Too Short fans out in the South. Respect.

The Stretch Arm remix to " that how it is " for me was better than the albums version but......Cas had SO MUCH FLOW. The " golden era " was truly golden because there was SO MUCH balance coming from both coast, you could really see how that era of young black people had REALLY been inspired and influenced by the previous era's because we were the same....DOPE!
