A ton of the early hip-hop records was just mfs not really saying shit. Not all of it was bad, but a lot of that shit was gabbage; it was the product of people not involved in the streets where Hip-Hop was born trying to produce dudes and make records who didn't even know you could make Hip-Hop records. Marley Marl will say the exact same thing. Mfs wasn't cutting up other records on tracks or sampling yet. Sampling didn't exist for your average dude until like '85 or so.

I don't know what to call it but all these different colored dreads or hair, tattoo, tight pants, dress wearing youngsters to a "BATTLE" with meaningful substance wit and jamming beat. Just the rappers since the middle of 2013 up to today's date.
