Finally a fitness focused cooking and meal prepping channel that doesn't completely demonize a bit of sugar or butter. There is a happy middle ground between dry chicken with steamed broccoli and a triple cheeseburger with fries and that's what I want 90% of my meals to be like.
Yup! There is nothing more stupid than to neglect ingredients granted to us by nature. I’d rather take in the little bit of calories coming from brown sugar than opting for Something chemical
I really admire this. This would be a 14 min video at least for the other food youtubers. And encouraging us to eat at work - damn we're overworked and need a break.

I really appreciate the small details you include in your video recipes. Like how you used milk because you needed a liquid base, but dairy-free options are fine. As someone who is insane about the details when it comes to cooking, bravo sir 👏🏻
I made these lastnight and they are super good, I recommend instead of drizzling the yogurt ontop of it after it’s done, just scoop a good amount(especially if you want more protein) ontop of the reheated slice. That way there’s a bit of cold and hot mixture and it’s sosososo good
I just found this channel and have now spent an hour on a Saturday night going from recipe after recipe. Major thank you for the quick video cuts and getting to the point. It is so frustrating watching tons of fluff and filler in other videos! Huge thumbs up!
I've made it with and without the protein powder and it's absolutely fantastic. My toddler actually finishes her portion. I like the texture of the without protein powder better but the one with protein definitely kept me fuller longer. I used Orgain almond based protein powder (because it doesn't use stevia) and I actually really liked the added nuttiness.
This stuff is sooooo dang tasty!!! Cheap, protein filled, and easy!! I have made the banana chocolate chip and lemon blueberry as well. I love that I can use these as either a breakfast or halve them for a dessert. I am losing weight and loving it. Thank you for sharing these!! 🙏🏻🥰
I give this recipe a 10/10. I’ve made this numerous times with the following changes. 1. I used zero calorie stevia brown sugar substitute instead of sugar 2. Almond milk 3. Used a whey/casein blend Came out great

I do something similar to this but not as a baked thing. Some brown rice and caramelized apples made up on the weekend can be combined with some milk in the microwave to make a very quick reheatable rice pudding-ish breakfast. For a slightly more hands-on approach reheating it in a saucepan allows you to cook it down to the precise consistency you like.

I love your recipes, man. I'm an extremely picky eater who hates 90% of vegetables and flavours/ It makes it hard to eat healthy and stay on top of my protein intake. I made a few things from your videos and loved them so much!
This is an awesome recipe, thanks for sharing. I'll be trying this for next week's meal prep. Some changes I will probably make: (1) Either cut back on the brown sugar amount, or use a monkfruit-based brown sugar substitute, (2) since the milk is mostly for liquid, I'll cut that in half and use equal parts water, and (3) rather than a sweetened yogurt for the frosting, I will mix some vanilla why protein into some greek yogurt and use that, for decreased sugar and increased protein.
I've just come off binging like 10 of your videos and I have to say, I am unbelievably impressed by so many things Firstly, you *clearly* fucking get it. Like, working, and doing all the other stuff that takes up your time and energy to make yourself better is fucking hard and you are here, making healthy eating *as easy as god damn possible*. Your workflow constantly teaches people the best order to cook things in (prep ingrediants first, cook longest things to cook first, by the time you've done X, Y should be ready to flip/take out, etcetera), and you show your work within the reasonable constraints of a kitchen, too, unlike studio kitchens like Babish, for example, with their massive quadruple ovens/stovetops and their professional line of tools. The acceptable sacrifice of technique for the benefit of saving time on meal prep, I saw that in several videos and it was so validating. Not to mention you find ways to make shit under 500 calories, but you're not a pansy about things like butter or oil or sugar. I haven't tried any of these yet but they actually look like they will have flavor and taste to them! It feels real, and authentic, it looks easy and tasty, it even seems extremely affordable, 99% of the time, and I am just blown away. I am subbed, and I will be making these for me and my room mate. EDIT: Not to mention you *include metric measurements!*
just made these today. I doubled the amount of cinnamon and added 1tsp of vanilla extract. Great as a desert for someone who doesn't like things too sweet, or as a breakfast or a snack. Gonna try the blueberry lemon one next. I'm never buying snack bars again
Great stuff, I didn't have apples at home, so I used 3 Carrots that I graded really fine and 1 banana, the result was a moist cake that tastes fantastic.
I find it hilarious how many people get offended by sugar and call it unhealthy, move around a little in your life, or just eat less, and you don't have to worry about it. Every time I hear about sugar, it is from either a skinny fat, or super fat person that is eating 3+ meals a day, but avoids sugar because "sUgAr bAd" ...
Great video; simple, straight to the point. I make a similar banana oatmeal protein powder breakfast bread, cut into sticks and into the freezer. They go from the freezer to the toaster oven, and I can eat them warm or take them on the go. I cut a piece of parchment paper for the bottom of my glass baking dish and I can flip it right out. I also have a pumpkin variation, and after looking at this, I'll want to make it with apples.
@@jordanmcfarren7226 I've been tweaking things as I go along, and I wanted to check one last thing. I think it turned out pretty good. Heat oven to 350F. Grease 9x13" baking dish (I line the bottom with parchment to be double certain it releases). Whiz 230g oats (old fashioned or quick) in processor with steel blade about 10 seconds to make a coarse flour. Dump into large mixing bowl. Add 70g protein powder (see note), 40g flour (wheat or all purpose), 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp table salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp powdered ginger. (1 cup of toasted chopped pecans is a nice addition for the holidays.) Whisk to combine. Note: I use straight whey isolate, unflavored or maybe vanilla. Avoid products with sweeteners, thickeners, etc, since it's just extra calories and it could change the batter. Place another mixing bowl on the scale and hit tare; add a 15oz can pumpkin puree (NOT pie mix), 4 eggs, 1 tsp molasses, 2 Tbs sugar (or use brown sugar, but I prefer this extra dark version) and enough yogurt to total 900g (a little more than a cup I think; I make yogurt a gallon at a time, so I don't pay attention to the amount I add, just the total. Use regular, not Greek. Fat content is optional; I've been using skim milk to make mine). Whisk it till smooth; I use a stand mixer for this. Dump wet stuff into dry. Mix the batter aggressively to encourage some gluten development. Dump into baking dish. Bake 35-40 minutes. Should be nicely brown over the entire surface. Cool in pan for a bit, and then turn out onto rack to cool completely. I cut in half lengthwise and then 12 bars per half. Arrange on sheet tray and freeze uncovered. The next day, put 4 pieces per zipper sandwich bag. I use them within a week, so freezer burn isn't an issue. For breakfast, I go from the freezer to toaster oven on its max toast setting. If you're feeling dirty (or for special occasions), fry the cut sides of the toasted bars in butter. I've been making a variation with 4 over ripe bananas instead of pumpkin; skip the ginger.
Thank you so much for your baked oats recipe. I like oatmeal, but get tired of it quickly. I This will definitely help me eat up my oatmeal and get rid of my crappie protein powder. I had all the ingredients and made it. Can't wait to try it for breakfast tomorrow.
This is great. I’m going to try this and substitute the sugar with stevia to cut even more calories. My main breakfast is anabolic French toasts. This will be a nice switch.
Casein protein does change the consistency of the final product, I did both on back-to-back weeks, I think I prefer whey. I also went quite a bit heavier on the cinnamon and tossed in a little stevia before baking to give this a little extra flavor, I'm thinking of adding some apple sauce as a replacement for some of the milk to really have more flavor. Also topping with sugar free syrup when you serve really makes this a nice dish for 0 extra calories
Awesome channel dude! I work on my computer and the last 2 years I gained probably 20 pounds (of fat... lol) from just being unhealthy and not eating right. Your recipes look amazing and I'm gonna try them out starting tomorrow!

Great content as always, thanks Josh! A couple of questions: - Can we use casein protein, which you seem to prefer a lot more in your recipes? - Any preference between using rolled oats or oat flower?
If a recipe calls for casein then you have to use casein. If it doesn’t specify or calls for whey, you can probably use either. I wouldn’t recommend using oat flour for these but I’ve never tried it.
@@maxzhu4434 Weeeeell, I still don't have any casein protein. I only used whey and now I am considering buying casein just for Josh's recipes, as I have noticed a few issues with whey indeed. So please let us know how it will turn out, you will be the first one attempting it with casein.

🙌🙌🙌
holy shit. that's an incredible recipe. like, the macro is great and you can vary the "topping" to change the flavour insanely easily. thank you.
Would it disrupt the ratios to use more protein powder?
yes. it will probably dry out your oatmeal. you would have to add more milk
I've just come off binging like 10 of your videos and I have to say, I am unbelievably impressed by so many things
Firstly, you *clearly* fucking get it.
Thank you for your support 😎
This channel should have over a million subs!
Adding lemon rind to this takes this loaf to another dimension
just made these today. I doubled the amount of cinnamon and added 1tsp of vanilla extract.
Great as a desert for someone who doesn't like things too sweet, or as a breakfast or a snack. Gonna try the blueberry lemon one next. I'm never buying snack bars again
This dude spittin
Great stuff, I didn't have apples at home, so I used 3 Carrots that I graded really fine and 1 banana, the result was a moist cake that tastes fantastic.
I find it hilarious how many people get offended by sugar and call it unhealthy, move around a little in your life, or just eat less, and you don't have to worry about it. Every time I hear about sugar, it is from either a skinny fat, or super fat person that is eating 3+ meals a day, but avoids sugar because "sUgAr bAd" ...
Finally someone who gets it
Just tryed this. Its amazing!
We used smal cut oats, for a more cakey consistency. Delicious
Glad you liked it 😎
Quick ready to eat breakfast! You got it guy thank you so much . Love your variations😊
Are you willing to share the pumpkin recipe?
@@tonybernard4444 respectfully i love u. i made them and they were really good. i love pumpkin so it was perfect
Thank you so much for your baked oats recipe. I like oatmeal, but get tired of it quickly. I This will definitely help me eat up my oatmeal and get rid of my crappie protein powder. I had all the ingredients and made it. Can't wait to try it for breakfast tomorrow.
Your a legend thank you for being concise and informative
I made these this morning for the upcoming week and plan on your Buffalo chicken prep for lunches. Thanks for the easy to follow recipes.
This is really good, I modified with steel cut oats. As you’d expect with steel cut, it’s a little more to chew than rolled oats. But still very good
I just woke up today and mind you,I’m not the type to cook in the kitchen,I just felt like it and damn this was worth the time!
Just made it and whoa. Made another batch a friend and family members to show that you can still enjoy really good tasting food while on a diet.
This is great. I’m going to try this and substitute the sugar with stevia to cut even more calories. My main breakfast is anabolic French toasts. This will be a nice switch.
I just started watching your videos, bout to change my eating habits and health choices. Thank you for sharing.
Best of luck 😎
Nice to see it in grams a simple thing but easy to follow for some and easy to track too
Casein protein does change the consistency of the final product, I did both on back-to-back weeks, I think I prefer whey.
What is the casein consistency like?
I'm curious why you didn't dice the apples - just a matter of preference? Seems like they would get more evenly distributed throughout the mixture
Really good video man. Concise and informative. No bs, just straight up. Keep it going!
Thank you 🙏
Awesome channel dude! I work on my computer and the last 2 years I gained probably 20 pounds (of fat... lol) from just being unhealthy and not eating right. Your recipes look amazing and I'm gonna try them out starting tomorrow!
Would there be any reason why I shouldn't grate the apples? Recipe looks awesome!
I like to have a bite like apple pie. You can grate them if you wish though
Damn... by far the best food videos on youtube. Glad the algo blessed me with your channel.
This channel is gold!
Thank you 🙏
Wow, that tasted so good! The whole family loved this oatmeal and I can't wait to try the others out.
I love what and how you doing things on your channel. Keep up the great work 💪
Thanks so much 😎
@@TheMealPrepManual I forgot to mention, that I made the "mistake" to mix the sugar and cinnamon with the dry ingredients and not with the apple slices. But it turned out just fine an maybe a little bit better for my taste😉
I also made the whole recipe with cashew milk and used casein vanilla protein powder.
Lots of love from germany ♥️
Great content as always, thanks Josh!
A couple of questions:
- Can we use casein protein, which you seem to prefer a lot more in your recipes?
- Any preference between using rolled oats or oat flower?
If a recipe calls for casein then you have to use casein. If it doesn’t specify or calls for whey, you can probably use either.
I wouldn’t recommend using oat flour for these but I’ve never tried it.
Hey planning on making it with only casein tmmr, how did it go for you?
@@maxzhu4434 Weeeeell, I still don't have any casein protein. I only used whey and now I am considering buying casein just for Josh's recipes, as I have noticed a few issues with whey indeed.
So please let us know how it will turn out, you will be the first one attempting it with casein.
i love your channel straight to the point and full of relevant information i am super excited to try these meals ill remember that i was here at 16k subs when you hit a million
thank you for your support 😎
Instant sub, checked your other videos and this is exactly the type of channel i needed
I recommend looking into a mandolin. It'll make these long and tedious sessions of slicing a lot easier on you.
🙌🙌
I've been rotating cooking myself scrambled eggs with toast and a coffee with a packet of oatmeal or sometimes cereal (very rare tbh..)
this seems like just the thing to keep things different here and there. thank you
You guys I wish I could post pictures on here but I just made this but I substituted the apples for sliced bananas and wow this is amazing
Could you replace the eggs with Greek yogurt, or is there another good replacement for eggs you'd recommend? Maybe applesauce and a tablespoon of vegetable oil?
I like some of your other baked oatmeal and the texture more than other recipes I've used. Do you have a base recipe for baked oatmeal? I would like to add add whatever dried fruits or nuts I have at the time.
Man, your channel is game changing
thank you, glad you enjoy it 😎
Deserves so much more than a million views but still awesome
Very glad to have come across your channel and website. Excellent video format, easy to follow and learn from. Keep up the great work, your channel is helping me stay fit and healthy. Also, I have found your recipes very flexible when I need to adjust for my macros. Great stuff!
Thank you so much 😎
This is fast becoming my favourite channel for food
Overnight oats are my favorite way to have oats, quick, easy, cold, and plenty of fruit mixed in.
I finally got around to making this and it is spot on. Very good. Thank you very much.
Just made it and it seems to be a winner with the family. We had to substitute a few things to make it gluten and dairy free and I'm worried that I've not cooked it properly as it was a bit wet in the middle
I've just put it in the oven.
I only had 3 apples, so I used a Banana as a substitute for the 4th apple. Hopefully it will turn out good!
should be fine 👍
Is warm yoghurt nice (from re-heating in the microwave) ? Isn’t it more tasty if you put the servings in the fridge without the topping on and after re-heating, put on some cold yoghurt?
I made this today and it's so good!
I didn't have baking powder so I just left it out and it's still amazing
I made this today and it is so amazing. Man, it tastes just like pudding! I used a chocolate whey instead as I didn't have a vanilla based one, but delicious nonetheless. Thank you so much dude. This is gonna be my go-to-breakfast every day!
Hey just out of curiosity, did it fill you up? I’m thinking about making it but I wanna make sure it’s enough
glad you enjoyed it 😎
@@reginaldhobbs6202 Yes it did! The fibre from the oats and apple really make it super filling. Its pretty much replaced my Protein Oats.
@@TheMealPrepManual thank you for the recipes. I was thinking of trying one of those food delivery places but I found your channel last night and after watching a dozen of your videos, I think I’m gonna try meal prep to save money.
@@soapyea thanks man
Try it at the weekend. But I will switch and reduce the brown sugar with honey. But I think that should work
