And thank you so much again. You touched on a lot of issues I have had over the years when I weighed 325 at my heaviest. I have since lost half that but psychologically it’s still a struggle for me. I get on the ride and still worry if it’s safe. I still ask the attendant to double and triple check my restraints even if they are clearly and obviously locked into place at a safe threshold. I have actually sat in the extra large big boy seats that Batman the Ride has not even knowing it was a larger rider seat. I had extra room and was moving around quite a bit in that seat while the ride was going. I was like Holy shit! But of course all was ok. I think I had the same problem as you did about the restraints. It was my stomach. When I sat down especially my lower stomach it was hard to get the restraints to fit.

I’m 290’as well but when I go to these places I’m too embarrassed that I didn’t fit as anyone else so me trying to force myself in would make me feel even worse. I’m trying to work on my weight so I can fit easily whenever I go again. I’m gonna definitely take your advice and use the test seats. Thank you😊

LOL! I remember when I first started riding roller coasters in the late 70’s as a pre teen and as a teenager in the 80s. I used to feel so sorry for larger riders that couldn’t ride. But over the years I put on a lot of weight…like well over 100lbs. As I got heavier it was harder to ride. I good news for me is my weight was evenly distributed but even so it was getting harder and harder. At least in my mind. At my heaviest I was 325 lbs and rode on Riddler’s Revenge for the first time in 2004. I remember I had a hard time getting the restraints on. I had to have an attendant help. It was a stand up coaster. You startled the stool seat and pulled the lap bar down and then a seat belt buckles between your legs and attached to the shoulder harness. Well I couldn’t buckle it on my own. It took the attendant to push with all his strength on the harness and then buckle the seat belt. It was very very tight and I felt like I was bursting out of it. I was really te thinking my decision as we started up the lift hill. That day I rode many coasters including my all time favorite Colossus. It had different trains and again I had a hard time. The attendant had to practically do a push up on the lap bar but I rode it . But here is the issue. Even though I was technically able to get get strapped in even if just barely I no longer enjoyed the experience. It was ultimately terrifying for me womdering if I was going to survive or not get injured in some way. Obviously having the retrains so tight was extremely uncomfortable and even painful and not much fun. Riding a roller coaster should be a joy and a thrill, not a true death defying challenge. Not for m anyway. I really developed a fear over the years and avoid it altogether. It’s the reason why I didn’t ride classic Colossus for the last time! But then I made some lifestyle changes and dropped over 150 lbs but the fear still remained. It wasn’t until recently that I started to get my roller coaster mojo back. But it breaks my heart that I actually could have still rode Colosssus one last time in 2014 despite my weight. I met several people that did and they were as big as I was when they rode. But thank you so much for posting and the education

Last year, I personally squeezed on Drop Tower at Kings Island, had to get the shoulder harness slammed down to get the safety belt to latch, which it did, but got stuck aftermath. One at Kings Dominion in Doswell Virginia,is forgiven, and had a test seat. I'm 6 foot 2 and 280 lbs I know I'll fit on Batman The Ride in regular seat with just a push.

I've noticed the parks usually have the measurement and weight restrictions for each ride. I've used a fabric measuring tape to get my hip measurements since i carry my weight mostly on my tummy. I'm going to Six Flags Great American in Gurnee Illinois on Aug. 5th. I'll give an update after! Hopefully i can help someone too. 😊

Hey girl ❤️ I just want you to know that Fright Fest 2022, i went to Great Adventure for the first time in maybe 4-5 years? At the time I did not know how out of control my weight got. I walked up to Nitro with my boyfriend (who I had just recently started dating) and to my surprise I did not fit. I did not take it too harshly, just threw in the “thick thighs save lives” line to hide the embarrassment. We then walked over to Batman. Again, not a thought to it, walked up to the ride and again….i did not fit. I was MORTIFIED. Absolutely traumatized (even to this day I guess you could say). Ran to the bathroom and called my mom crying. We tried to make the best of the night, but I will never EVER forget that walk of shame.
Flash forward, July 2023…. I wanted to give it a try again. I lost weight. I felt confident. I wasn’t embarrassed to try the tester seats. Mentally prepared myself for what might happen….
Then I found this video. I studied this video like my life depended on it. I love coasters. I want to ride. I never thought my weight would restrict me from doing something I love. So again, I studied this specific video. I took note of everything you said.
Then the day came when I went back to Great Adventure.
One ride after the other….one tester seat after the next, I fit. No problem.
I was absolutely relieved. I probably went 15 times from July-Fright Fest.
Basically, what I want to say is thank you for making these videos.
It really, truly, gave me the confidence to approach this situation with grace.
    Also,
The 5th row Medusa tip … *chefs kiss*

You may unfortunately have some problems with Nitro due to how the seat is designed. Definitely try the test seat out front and it has helped me to sit up as straight as possible and push myself as far back in the seat as I can
