Companies are starting to learn. They make a Katana and Tanto, first thing we say is "Cool but can we get a Ko-gatana or extended Wakizashi?" People want a close-quarters option for the hallway, garage, office, car, etc. @@DaveN80

1566 is a good all round steel, that's why it's used in building bridges and skyscrapers. It's definitely less prone to chipping, taking a bend it do that on a really hard targets like bamboo if you're alignment is bad.

Charlie, that is a good question but always a difficult one to give a response to...This sword is a lower maintenance modern rendering of a katana....its also very light and nimble, and being Hira Zukuri makes it a very precise and good slicer but also prone to taking a set(bending) on misaligned and bad cuts, not a heavy material cutter....I have been recommending them to make a shinogi Zukuri through hardened tougher build on other renditions...so I don't know your skill level, if you want a starter sword to do some cuts with, look up a spring steel sword, like the $155.00 romance of men katana in my catalog, this modern katana is a great sword to own and use but depending on your skill level it may not keep up...luckily there are many options out there for cheaper that are good....hope this helps

As im sure you're already aware, a lot of the reason they wrapped their tsuka w/ silk is how wet it stays there all the time. They liked something that gave really positive grip when wet. Which is true in places like UK & other wet places where they would wrap w/ leather or even wire. Whereas if you look at hot & dry desert civilizations their handle materials tend to be horn, bone, metal or even just straight wood more often. Without the cordage on the handle makes it easier to clean the entrails of your enemies 😢 only if I had disposable income 😊

      >I saw some drywall screws in your target base, it could destroy the edges of your katana. You should consider gluing the base with tightbond 3 ,( a outdoor wood glue ) then remove any type of metal fasteners. Hope I didn't jinx you before you got it done, but it not only the question of when.

All good points, the side wood panels are totally not needed, just there for extra surface area and can be removed. Thanks, Jim will take into advisement

Any sword or blade can be broken with the tree of Wo and the croquette stick of doom...but this sword survived and cut well in what it was designed to do and that is good enough for me friend

I don't care what anyone says 'tradition' is a load of crap. Yeah it's cool and it's fun to know how things were done and how excellence was achieved out of dirt, but clinging to tradition is stupid.
I would much much rather see katana's that are machine mass produced, stamped out of spring steel and then cnc ground, with G10 or micarta slab grips in perfectly fitting injection molded fibre reinforced plastic sheaths than I would 'authentic' and 'unique' katana's.
It is far far better to have quality products at bottom dollar prices that you can throw around confidently rather than unique works of art that you're too scared to take off the wall, if it's even capable of doing anything.
It's a shame, I'd really love to see what knife and sword companies could come up with if they put an actual drive towards modernising a katana and creating the best sword possible with todays tools and materials rather than just marketing to weebs and hard core history buffs 🤷‍♂️

This is where we are now. With the current dwindling traditional market, modern Katanas will grow. Personally, I'd like to have both. The art piece and the workhorse. There is no need to condemn one for the other.

Sorry but tsuka isn't improved. Katana is perfection. Only maybe steel needs to be CPM M4 and that's it...

I would disagree, I'm all for a wider blade, this blade is no different in width then other production blades on the production line the motohaba is the same

Nice advertisement, but I had to cut it short as the constant intense barrage of praise was just too much on the ears (and slightly embarrassing). I hope that you made a lot of $ as I can see all the energy you spent would be worth it (to someone).

No money made, I don't profit from these products, and if I gave it praise it's because I like and enjoyed the item, thanks for watching
